Green was the first person in congress to call for Trump's impeachment btw.
And he got absolutely KILLED for it.

By SleazyC Go To PostThe WH will continue to make excuses and the GOP will give stern warnings but nothing will come from this. I expect sanctions to roll out eventually but because the implementation seems to be left in the hands of the WH we might see some "creativity" applied here. The GOP are gutless. Flake and Corker at least took a stand...too bad it was after they announce they aren't running for re-election. Trump is a bully and their all scared to stand up to him.
Republicans are shaping up to have to use DACA to get Democrats' support for the spending bill, because they probably can't even do a simple thing on their own. DACA will, of course, lose even more Republican support, because Republicans are abhorrently evil.
For example
When HuffPost asked Ted Yoho (R-Fla.) on Tuesday about Ryan potentially including DACA in a year-end spending deal, Yoho said “he better not.”
“You gotta get rid of DACA. DACA needs to go away,” Yoho said.
Rep. Raul Labrador (R-Idaho) also said it would be a “big problem” if Ryan included those immigration provisions in a December omnibus bill. “That’s true leadership, I guess,” Labrador said facetiously.
It was clear that Republican's position on DACA was weak since that Schumer/Pelosi deal went through.
Dems have too much leverage in December for them to ignore it now.

DACA situation is just batshit stupid and evil. I mean, im amazed this isnt more of an issue. There are thousands of DACA people that are better than 90% of the rest of people. They have their own businesses and got education and went through all the bullshit to get there, all from a young age where they speak perfect english and are actual job creators. Seriously you just want to start punching people.

Yes, it's ridiculous. Differ about other immigration issues, whatever, but people who were raised here from childhood? They're as much "American" as anyone else in this country, there shouldn't even be any question about it.

Yeah. White + "Christian."
You know, my mother and father are super religious Christians. My mom apparently didn't vote and my dad admitted to me he voted for Trump. I yelled at him for a while (over the phone, they in NY im in FL, the irony), and at the end of the day my plea was just like, 'how can you of all people vote for Trump i don't get it.' Cause my dad is the sweetest guy. And once i painted him the picture well enough with some links he straight up was like 'i think i made a bad mistake here, sorry.. I must say I was pleasantly surprised by the White Evangelical support number dropping into the 60s in the Fox News poll. That's a positive development.
To be frank, that number should be 0, but at least it's better than the 81% that went for Trump on election day.
I mean there is also just a level of complete bullshit in these groups, im just speaking to the notion that 'ALL' are bad, which never turns out to be the case anywhere. I think this is all a product of people not having to care about who the president is cause shit's been stable. I went months not giving a shit when Obama was president. Now like every day im curious and worried. Everyone is freaked out and the magnifying glass is everywhere. Truly free societies don't have to worry about their governments.

During last year’s election, a company subsidiary gave $225,000 to a pro-Trump super PAC. GEO gave an additional $250,000 to the president’s inaugural committee. It also hired as outside lobbyists a major Trump fundraiser and two former aides to Attorney General Jeff Sessions, one of the president’s most prominent campaign backers. GEO Group, meanwhile, has had newfound success in Trump’s Washington. The company secured the administration’s first contract for an immigration detention center, a deal worth tens of millions a year. And its stock price has tripled since hitting a low last year when the Obama administration sought to phase out the use of private prisons — a decision that Sessions reversed.

You'd think that fuckin motherjones blowup piece would have ended shit like this but fuck it.
I thought my mother was at least not going to vote for Trump. I was under no illusion that she would vote for Hillary, but I recall her at least hinting that she would vote third party. Found out afterwards she had voted Trump. Called it a choice between "crazy" and "crooked." I was like "mom, you got both."
By Fenderputty Go To PostI'm lucky to have a union father and fairly liberal family. Extended family … whew
My extended family is large, because my parents came from large families. Got a lot of aunts, uncles, and cousins. I'm trying to count on the top of my head how many of them have expressed any liberal tendencies.
So far, I'm up to 1.
That said, I've not heard (or seen, courtesy of Facebook) many of them voice any political leanings at all. But the majority of those that have are quite conservative.
Oh hoho. You don't wanna know the shit i know. On my mothers side there are like 14 aunts/uncles. Most of which are either cops/fireman. On long Island. I've heard some of the most racist shit you wouldn't believe. Ironically, the racist ass that got the highest on the food chain eventually became liberal. Was amusing to watch that. He sat on conference calls with Obama. I am actually glad i escaped to Florida, and it makes my parents going rogue all the more impressive. My sister is a liberal sweetheart living in NYC going for phd. Wish i was her.
I've been pretty lucky.
For Kansas my family isn't that bad. One of my cousins was hesitant to vote for Obama, but did in the end. My grandpa was a huge racist when he was young, but by the time he died his best friend was an old black man he'd worked at Boeing with for decades.
We really don't talk race issues much. Even with so much of my family being brown or mixed race. Me and some of my younger cousins are some of the noisiest.

We're all varying degrees of Liberal. Some veering towards the conservative end of Dem, but not by much.
But then you go to my grandpa's side in Nebraska and the only ones still alive are all Trump loving Republicans.

My family is quite liberal with me and my two sisters the most progressive. My father is your typical Filipino centrist/left leaning. I didn’t really ask him how he feels abour Duterte but he thinks Trump is an idiot
Moving to SF makes me feel quite at home with all the progressive friends I made here. Miami can be quite hard right especially with the Cubans who live in the rich parts (Coral Gables, Miami Shores,Kendall)

My family is just my brother and mother. Both are Bernie or Busters, both claim to have voted for Johnson... I only trust one of them when they say that, though.
Ugh.

Seriously you just want to start punching people. The real reason why Trump went after DACA
Not because it made sense to. It's just because he could.
He has no political capitol with congress. Isn't getting his wall. Didn't get his ACA repeal. Doesn't seem like he'll get his tax reform. Or any of the ridiculous things he promised
But he went after DACA because he could, because it was an EO, and he had the power to over turn it himself to show he was doing something
That's how petty and small he is. The logistics of DACA applicant's situation doesnt matter.
What was funny is seeing all his fans try to rationalize it. It was all bullshit. Made no sense to fuck with it the way he did. He just did it so he had something to do and prove to his base he was doing what he said he would do.

I really despise Trump because he’s so abhorrent and destructive, but part of me is glad he’s around because I believe the end result of this will be a viable third party. So my hope is that we have a real break down of hyper partisanship with will result in our democracy actually working again.
Also that literally has to be the most oniony report I’ve ever seen.

All that talk about the incredible ability of the brain and cant even remember how much you cut from one of your voucher program. Going into the week before the election, I had my mom convinced not to vote for Trump. She was never going to vote for Hilary, but I thought I had convinced to write in Jeb Bush (she loves the Bush's). I explained to her that the state we live in (Maryland) was going for Hilary no matter who she voted for, so her vote said more about who she was than anything. If she wanted the man who was in those Access Hollywood tapes to be the leader of our nation, than that said some awful things about her moral compass. She was all set to do that until a week before the election, when the leader of the women's bible study at her church spent the entirety of their bible study explaining that the only right as christian was to vote for Trump, regardless of his moral failings or complete lack of qualification because "Hilary hates babies" and Trump was a republican which means he loves them. I tried explaining to her that Trump really doesn't care about abortion and was only using it as an issue to manipulate voters like her, but it was no use.

Didn't Trump declare the opioid thing an emergency months ago? Or did he just say he was going to and then never actually asked anyone to follow through with it and didn't sign anything? Likely the later, per the rule of "dumbest explanation of any Trump situation is the most likely reason." What exactly is going to happen, and how exactly are we supposed to fund any of it, anyway?
*Insert standard reminder that it's interesting that Washington mysteriously cares about an epidemic that largely impacts white people and has given zero fucks about any other controlled substance abuse for 30 years beyond throwing countless minorities in jail for minor drug offenses*

It blows my mind that Gillespie may pull this off based on fear mongering around MS-13 and confederate statues. There is no point where Republican voters will leave their party short of 2008 style economic collapse.

The statement by the president came in response to a question as he spoke to reporters outside a national security briefing at his golf club in Bedminster, N.J., where he is on a working vacation.
“The opioid crisis is an emergency, and I’m saying officially right now it is an emergency. It’s a national emergency. We’re going to spend a lot of time, a lot of effort and a lot of money on the opioid crisis,” he said.
A White House statement issued Thursday evening said that Trump “has instructed his Administration to use all appropriate emergency and other authorities to respond to the crisis caused by the opioid epidemic.”
And then.........nothing happened.
