Maybe Trump just gave a banker authorization to all military missions the military wants to do regardless of what it is

The Senate Leadership Fund, a PAC aligned with McConnell, has also stepped up its effort to embarrass Bannon. On Wednesday, the PAC’s Twitter account mocked Danny Tarkanian, a frequent candidate now challenging Sen. Dean Heller (R-Nev.), for suggesting that they both pledge to oppose McConnell as majority leader.
The SLF tweeted a 2016 headline from the New York Daily News — “Anti-Semitic Trump campaign CEO Stephen Bannon not a big fan of ‘whiny brat’ Jews, ex-wife says” — with space for Tarkanian’s signature.
“Do we need any further evidence than Mitch McConnell and his cronies reducing themselves to using left-wing talking points to attack Steve? It’s pathetic to watch,” said Andy Surabian, a senior adviser to the Great America Alliance and Bannon’s former deputy at the White House. “Every poll shows Mitch McConnell is an albatross on the Republican candidates. If McConnell truly cared about our Republican majority in the Senate more than he cares about his own power, then he would step down as Senate majority leader today.”
Re: Bush approval...
Y’all are acting like the deification of Reagan didn’t happen not long after he left office. There’s a whole lot of thirty-something’s across the entire political spectrum that view the 80’s in a positive light...not because of Reagan’s policies (I’m sure they exist, though), but because they are nostalgic for that era and everything associated with it.
With the emergence of Trumpism, we can only compare recent eras to our current strifes. Hence, we believe that Bush the Person is much better than...whatever this thing is that’s in office now. It’s like saying I “approve” of me receiving a temporary wage garnishment as opposed to losing my job completely.
I’m sure that if the poll phrased the question like, “do you feel that Bush is better, worse, or about the same as Obama?” as an example, that positive approval rating would turn into a negative.

At this stage it'd just be something else to add to the current backlog.
This President is the best at scandals. Tremendous.
As normal as that approval rating for Bush Jr. is, it's also a clear counter argument for accelerationism.
People love status quo when they aren't getting royally fucked by it. And when they are? They love the old status quo.

Weren't there articles going about a while ago how he wanted to give far more control for okaying these missions to the generals?
Edit: Yup, here it is:
Trump officials believe loosening the permissions process can help turn up the heat against ISIS — and counterterrorist-focused agencies like the military's Joint Special Operations Command are lining up new targets in anticipation of more numerous and more rapid approvals.
One model being considered is pre-delegating authority to Mattis on extremely sensitive operations like hostage rescues; for raids or drone strikes against pre-approved targets, that authority could be pushed much further down the chain of command — all the way down to the three-star general who runs JSOC. If his teams spot a target that's already on the White House approved high value target list, the elite force will be able to move into action, informing the national security apparatus of the operation but not having to wait for permission. Yeah, I agree with this. I hate people that throw shade at Democrats just because of polls like that. It's obvious why Bush is seen in a better light compared to Trump, but most people who lived the Bush years won't forget what he did, and being nostalgic about a decade sometimes have nothing to do with presidents. Most of the country remembers their lives in the 90s fondly, despite Clinton.
Obama will very probably get both historical and popular praise in the long run because both him and his years were relatively stable and hopeful compared to Bush and now Trump, for different reasons. They were the years the information and tech revolution really took off (notwithstanding the negative consequences that might have brought about), the golden era of tv shows, gay marriage finally being legal, no major scandal in the White House etc. Of course, a lot of what brought about Trump is a consequence of that era, but Trump will be blamed for all this, not Obama. For the most part.

“Obama was cautious, he was analytical, he always wanted to see all the sides of the story before he took any action — possibly to a fault,” said David Rothkopf, the chief executive and editor of the Foreign Policy Group and the author of “Running the World: The Inside Story of the National Security Council and the Architects of American Power.”
“I think Trump is the opposite of all those things,” Mr. Rothkopf said. “Also to a fault.”

Of possibly marginal overall interest, but the leading Dem candidate for Governor in Oklahoma is resigning his house seat and ending his campaign.
This sets up a primary showdown between Drew Edmondson (whose family includes former congressmen and governors, but who is as centrist as could be) and Connie Johnson, a black woman who is a DSA member. Oklahoma did go for Bernie in the 2016 primary and Johnson's bona fides seem legit.
Could be an interesting test case for the feasibility of populist leftist politics on the state level.

Trump is no worse now than he was a year ago, when the Access Hollywood tape came out, or two years ago, when he suggested that the United States institute a Muslim ban. He has always been combative, boorish, ignorant and mean-spirited. He’s flip-flopped on every issue from health care to abortion to the Iraq War. He perfected the art of the Twitter insult long before he was considered a serious candidate for the presidency. There is certainly nothing new we have learned about Trump in the last couple of months. Indeed, all of his faults were on full display from the moment he announced his candidacy in June 2015.
Asked Tuesday whether he’d support Trump if he had it to do all over again, Corker said, “I would not do it again.” Sorry, senator, you missed your chance to do the right thing last year.
It’s one thing to debate the various aspects of Trump’s agenda, such as it is. It’s another thing entirely to look the other way all through 2016, and then, in 2017, be offended by Trump’s crudeness or worried that he is irresponsible. #NeverTrump conservatives (and yes, Democrats) were sounding alarms about the dangers of Trumpism all last year. Corker told us to shut up.

If there's one thing I've learned from working in government, it's that people like her are all too happy to willfully repeat the same mistakes over and over again, and that's an understatement.

Trump is old as dirt so it wouldn't be until the second term. I don't view either of them as ideal, but nobody else has really stepped up yet. Not that I expect that to happen until closer to 2020 though. Both Biden and Bernie poll ridiculously well against the orange turd.

Why Whitefish Energy? One clue could be that it’s based in a small Montana town, Whitefish, where Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke coincidentally happens to be from. “Everyone knows everybody,” Zinke’s office said in an email to the Post denying he had anything to do with Whitefish’s contract, though he did admit knew the company’s chief executive, Andy Techmanski. One of Zinke’s sons even worked as a “flagger” for Whitefish over the summer, he conceded.
