As Drew Magary said on Twitter the other day: anyone who supported Trump deserves to have it follow them to their grave.
So Trump is gonna force an investigation into "voter fraud" including being registered in multiple states, which isn't illegal nor a sign of voter fraud.
Investigation into Russia though? Zilch.

Spicer having to fall on multiple swords at once when having to make these briefings is good TV though. He won't make it.

He kinda has too now. He got destroyed in the media yesterday for telling false hoods regarding his loss in the popular vote. He's gonna look like a fool when nothing is found though. Not sure which is worse for his ego ...

Terrifying to think our only hope in 4 years is the Dems. Will 4 years be enough time for them to figure out why they lost and come up with a new strategy? Looks unlikely.
New bill in VA proposes to assign EC votes by (gerrymandered) congressional districts inside of the popular vote.

just posted on GAF--there's no way the dems can get the majority of EC votes with this mechanic in place for the state
and if something similar happens to other battlegrounds then there's no chance of really being competitive moving forward

Iranian immigrants to America are the most successful immigrants other than Indian immigrants. Iranian immigrants are upper middle class on average and don't "take my jerb."
Even ignoring how racist this policy is, this is such a fucking dumbshit economic policy.

They can be challenged in court and some of them are unenforceable.
For instance, he can say we'll build a wall, but if he's.got no budget to build it with. It's just a piece of paper with his stain on it.
Russian inroads into Serbia itself are worrisome. It hardly seems coincidental that the provocative train Belgrade dispatched to Kosovo was manufactured in Russia. The presence of Russia’s intelligence services in Serbia is unusually large and conspicuous, and they have recently established a spy base in the country’s south whose obvious purpose is monitoring Western activities in the region. Two months ago, Russia, Belarus and Serbia conducted joint military exercises on Serbian territory, termed “Slavic Brotherhood,” in a show of anti-NATO force.http://observer.com/2017/01/nato-deploying-troops-poland-baltics-vladimir-putin/
Most important, Moscow recently gifted Belgrade modern weaponry, including 60 armored vehicles (half of them T-72 tanks) plus six MiG-29 jet fighters. That doesn’t sound like much, and the MiG-29s are Russian air force surplus, but they’re a game-changer in the region. The arrival of the Russian aircraft, expected this spring, will make Serbia the only ex-Yugoslav country to possess modern jet fighters. Croatia, a NATO member, has a dozen dilapidated MiG-21s, which are generations older than the MiG-29, and thanks to years of neglect no more than a handful of them can get airborne. Without Atlantic Alliance aid to Zagreb, Serbia’s new jets will dominate the region.
The greatest concern right now, however, is the threat to the Balkans posed by clandestine Kremlin spy-games that I’ve termed Special War: espionage, subversion, propaganda and terrorism. Back in November, operatives linked to Russian intelligence attempted to stage a violent coup in Montenegro, the tiny ex-Yugoslav republic on the Adriatic which is seeking NATO membership, and politicians in Belgrade who are less than enthusiastic about getting in bed with Moscow consider such shadowy assassins to be a threat to themselves too. Given Putin’s habit of disposing of people he dislikes in unpleasantly nefarious ways, this appears to be a legitimate worry.
What Putin wants in the Balkans seems plain enough, namely political chaos that will distract the West, which made itself the region’s ward in the 1990s.
Ugh.

Look, there is a realpolitik/Henry Kissinger esque argument for keeping Bashar Al Assad in power, as incomprehensibly gross as it is. But to release a statement that categorically supports one of the worst war criminals of modern times is patently absurd beyond belief

She's way out of her depth out there.
That being said, I don't disagree with her taking the meeting and SOME of what she said about having to take that meeting, planned or not. However, her statement regarding it all could've and should've been examined better before release.
War criminals are everywhere. You have to talk to them. Its politics.
That's what I'm saying. I believe that what's going to keep children from dying in Syria is the war ending. And the quickest way to do that is to acknowledge that Assad is here to stay. Unless we're really willing to challenge Russia on this. (We're not)
But to act like Assad has broad based support in Syria is literally doing propaganda work for a mass murderer

Currently they are just press releases.

Its dumb, and its clearly her first time working with a mass murderer (like the US and its allies are above that now lol...) but its something that always ends up happening. That broad support picture has to get painted in order to move forward, like it or not. I wouldn't even call it propaganda as much as awkward capitulation. Propaganda is giving her way too much credit. Again, she's an opportunist before anything else.

But at this point, what's realistic for Syria? The intervention option came and went long, long ago. This is what moving forward is gonna look like more or less. It sucks, but that's the situation.
Some people are jumping all over this but its pretty much wasted breath at this point. And that's because of the choices of a previous administration.

But my problem is, she's capitulating for nothing. We've got literally zero leverage here, so it's not like kowtowing to Assad and Putin will get us a better deal. Who does this benefit? Not us, certainly.
By HasphatsAnts Go To PostBut my problem is, she's capitulating for nothing. We've got literally zero leverage here, so it's not like kowtowing to Assad and Putin will get us a better deal. Who does this benefit? Not us, certainly.Anything that pushes Syria along, further from the previous, otherworldly violence is preferable I guess. I don't think its as calculated as many are making it out to be. She got a meeting with Assad, quickly spouted something that certainly could've used more cooking before putting it out for the press.
Like I said though... she was out of her depth in India, and she's certainly out of her depth in Syria as well - but this is going to be a common theme for a lot of the less-than-experienced people thrust into the international diplomatic game under Trump.
I guess I should've made my point clearer. Making Assad happy is not going to end the war. Signaling to our allies that we will stop supporting the rebels and eventually doing exactly that will. Her spouting Assad talking points goes a long way to making sure the first thing happen, but doesn't mean shit for the second, more important thing.
The last thing I want to do is sound like I'm defending her too much I just think that the whole thing is overblown. She could've polished that statement a hell of a lot better, and her more or less consistent stance on Syria after we let things escalate past a certain point hasn't changed at all.
Just one problem: Mr. Langer, who lives in Boca Raton, Fla., is a German citizen with permanent residence status in the United States who is, by law, barred from voting, according to Mr. Langer’s daughter Christina.christ
“He is a citizen of Germany,” she said, when reached on her father’s cellphone. “He is not a friend of President Trump’s, and I don’t know why he would talk about him.”

Like that makes any fucking sense at all but that's directly out of Spicer's mouth today.
Our country is a joke.
He also admitted to ABC that "all" of the people who voted illegally voted for his opposition. Which is a pretty astounding thing to admit if you're trying to get a controversial policy though.
