I apologize for the hijack/sidebar but can someone point me to where my account options are in the interface? I'd like to add my avatar. Thanks!
Sanders going cold on Corker and Flake. Says Corker's just ginning up headlines. Says Flake leaving is probably for the best.
By Script Kiddies LLC Go To PostYeah…no. He doesn’t agree with Trump, but he will absolutely co-sign on all of the destructive policies and actions of the Republican Party. Trump is just one symptom of the party, just as much as he is.We will see as he basically said he would spend his remaining time defieing the president if it wasn't good for the people. If he doesn't oh well.
I am the farthest thing from a fan of Jeff Flake, but there is a lot of truth in his speech even if I do not necessarily believe he will put actions to his words. Trump is not just dangerous in the way a Republican is dangerous (which is still pretty dangerous). He is a existential threat to this country if allowed to continue.

By Fenderputty Go To PostI'm not sure I would call it a slam dunk. It is Arizona after all
Well, I said it should be. If Dems play their cards right. Scott Brown won in MA, which is far bluer than AZ is red, under similar circumstances.

Thanks, without an avatar that spot in the top bar wasn't standing out as actually being an interface to anything.
Would prefer to see such a speech followed up by actively working to build a bi-partisan coalition against Trump: To stop him, to hammer home how ineffectual and abhorrent he is.
But, as others have stated, he will go back to voting the party line - rather than acting as a beacon of resistance against collusion with the man-child leading us into the darkest of timelines.

If a Republican Congressman wants to actually show they're trying to do the right thing and really believe Trump is dangerous, they'll join in on one of the calls for impeachment.
By ClownsAreATen Go To PostUnless Flake actually does something besides take his ball and go home this isn't meaningful.Exactly. Like good words don't mean shit when all they are is words.

This is true, but if he’s gonna vote down party lines, which Trump is the said leader of the party and sets the agenda, then his words are worth diddly and he is still enabling said threat.
Yes, this logic checks out. Republicans don't like it when their party controls all three branches of government because Trump is a boor.
Jesus Christ, I swear some Dems make me want to root for Republicans. At least Republicans are ruthless and clever. People like Lieu are fucking pathetic.

So why are we complaining about republicans showing cracks in the wall? Is it because the whole thing hasn’t come tumbling down yet?
By TheMikado Go To PostSo why are we complaining about republicans showing cracks in the wall? Is it because the whole thing hasn’t come tumbling down yet?I think most would expect if these senators hold such views, they wouldn’t vote for the thugs Trump wants. Now, there’s severe overlap here since Trump is an idiot and doesn’t know policy to make it, so he piggybacks republican agendas or whatever Stephen miller slips on his desk. So I’m not going to expect these guys to vote for everything, I’ll be surprised if all of these senators dissenting currently end up voting for this tax plan.
By TheMikado Go To PostSo why are we complaining about republicans showing cracks in the wall? Is it because the whole thing hasn’t come tumbling down yet?
Because if they had any dignity they would be at this point of cracking.
By TheMikado Go To PostSo why are we complaining about republicans showing cracks in the wall? Is it because the whole thing hasn’t come tumbling down yet?Because the Republicans saying there are cracks on the wall aren't gonna do anything about it. We already knew there were cracks. Hell they're not even cracks anymore, they fucking giant gaping holes. Pointing out they exist is fine and good but saying something and doing something are two entirely different things.

I think what I’m saying is every step closer is progress. Should they be doing more? Yes, should this have been done? Yeah. Just glad progress is being made.
By TheMikado Go To PostI think what I’m saying is every step closer is progress. Should they be doing more? Yes, should this have been done? Yeah. Just glad progress is being made.I'll agree, but when you're dealing with people taking babysteps to solve gigantically obvious problems, it's hard not to get frustrated, especially when the people making the babysteps have nothing more to lose in doing so. It's not the act of courage the MM lauds them for. It's basic human decency at best.
Alleged cracks in the GOP foundations (in the Senate especially) mean absolutely nothing unless and until anyone actually votes against Trump's shit. McCain's health care vote has been the only actual unexpected standing on principles this past year. Collins and Murkowski are just are brave of course, but they weren't really a surprise. Beyond that it's all been party line for cabinet and judges.
This is what we're up against. Corker and Flake speaking out against Trump? No time for that, let's talk Hillary Clinton.
Edit: what Rumble said.

Uh ohhh ... something bad ... quick bring up Clinton stat.,
How many years have to pass before the right inst immediate triggered by the simple mentioning of their names?

Amazing even when members of their own brainwashed party make big news they completely ignore it and go full Hillary bullshit.
By ned_ballad Go To PostAren't Fox News' ratings doing pretty bad? I think people are kind of bored of Clinton news.
I know MSNBC is doing well, but I can't recall if that's at Fox News's expense or just new viewers.

I follow Hayes too!
By FreezePeach Go To PostAlso i never realized how blunt Hayes' twitter is for someone with his own NBC show.
Case in point
There are no "baby steps" being made. Flake and Corker are opportunists.
Republicans support abhorrent policies across the board. Their objections to Trump are primarily based on aesthetics, not policy.

He’s even more so blunt in person. Honestly a lot of these folks are. Wesley Lowery is HILARIOUS as shit in person, and I wish he was more able to express himself in public like that but he would get Jemele Hill’d in a heartbeat lol

There is no progress being made. It’s like that one weekend NFL owners “stood in solidarity” with their players and the next week you were told if you didn’t stand for the anthem you’d lose your job.
You guys really need to read between the lines and see things for what it actually is and stop taking empty words as truth
Lmao, Spicer is now a fellow at Harvard teaching folk about alternative facts. wtf
