Sheriff in a NC county tried to scuttle a FOI request. Let's see how that went.

Yeah looking for a new home, I'm guessing most didn't make it out of PoliGAF to here, probably on discord.
That Senate lunch with Cheeto is gonna be something else.
So is this where we are now? I don't even know what discord is it how to use it. I'm too old for all these new fangled forum formats.
Can someone add this link to the original post as it makes things easier to follow:

By ned_ballad Go To PostObama might have broke it, but the racial resentment had been brewing for a long time. That's the thing. I think, deep in their heart of hearts, people who harbored some sort of racial lean felt that it was inevitable that we would one day have a PoC as president. They just assumed that day was far, far away.
And under normal circumstances, that was probably a fair assumption.
But Obama was not a normal circumstance. Policy judgements aside, it's difficult to say he isn't an exceptional human being. So exceptional, in fact, that he took that "one day, it will happen" and bent time, resulting in "today, it can happen".
And when it did, these people didn't know what to do with that - and it broke their psyche, amplifying whatever latent (and not so latent) racism they possessed.
So yes, it's not Obama's fault, and these people are reprehensible for their racial hatred, but he nevertheless shattered their worldview because he was so insanely talented.

I've been here for a couple years posting at GAF too. Hopefully people post in both. Couple of the regs popped their head in yesterday only to ghost out lol

Looks like he's definitely just gonna pretend he never recused himself, huh?
By Randolph Freelander Go To PostBecause of course.
It was last years playbook, but Clinton deflection is still their go to.
That would be Thom Tillis, owner of a league leading 96.0 Trump Score at 538
Edit: to be "fair" it's a 15 way tie.

I say stick around. This place seems cool. The GAF thread had some boundary-testing crap going on and the way the community and mods dealt with it was very cool. Earned my respect instantly.
Is there any polling or general consensus on the tax proposals that Trump put out? It's being sold as a "job creator", but I feel like most people want a "wealth creator" right now. They're trying to pass this off a boon to the middle and lower classes but are people falling for that shit?

Right? That's a little bit of progress
Underrated comment.

Not sure which thread this should go in, but the more I think about Kelly's statement, the madder I get.
I am mostly speaking to it as a PoC, but when in this country's history have women of color been held as sacred? Black women were literally bred like cattle and women have only had the right to vote for 100 years. Not even going to get into how women are treated in the work place or pay disparity.
And the dude has the gall to act like all vets were treated the same when this country spat on vets of color for so long. Shit, MALDEF and the American GI Forum were founded by vets because this country shat on Latino vets for so long that they had to bamd together. White people act like we enjoy having to spend our free time and disposable income advocating for our rights.
So for him to go out and defend Trump while dehumanizing and lying about CongressWOMAN (I wonder why she isnt sacred?) is beyond shitty.

I agree, I'm going to stick with this forum. I don't see any reason not to. I don't mind the slower pace, it's actually kind of nice.

Dude got mad, then went right alone with playing politics for Trump who was politicizing his dead son. Kelly is a shit stain. Shit stains look fuckin' ace next to orange cheeto though.
Toward the end of my time at GAF I think it was amplifying my anxiety.
This place has a good pace (especially now that there are more members) but it doesn't stress me out with the insane amount of activity that GAF had.

Glad to see poligaf back. And embed tweets is a game changer. No more having to quote them and the link.

I don't like this. Not one bit: http://thehill.com/policy/technology/356887-fcc-eliminates-local-studio-requirement-for-broadcasters
Basically, news stations are no longer required to operate in the communities they server. They can now do it remotely. So, if the news stations want to save money, they can shut down the local stations. Meaning, no more local tv in small towns for politics, weather, sports, etc.

It was only a matter of time before local Television went the way of Radio. The stations were already all bought up, they just needed someone to allow them to do this.

God I really hope we can swing Florida blue next year, my GF is public school teacher and shes about ready to quit because of the b.s. the state politicians push down.
On the Jeff flake news, that was a seat dems were expected to pick up right? I guess making it an open election increases the chance of going dem? Also hope this doesnt mean hes going to capitulate and vote with trump the rest of his term.
By RumbleHumble Go To PostOh hey guys, nbd, Jeff Flake just not seeking re-election is all
So either Dems will take that seat or we'll get whatever positively insane Republican that survives the awful primary voters.
