The tl;dr is the man is a dirty compulsive liar and conservatives just plain do not care.
Looks like Corker and Trump are at it again lol.

Truth.
I always hope Corker is a sign things in the senate are changing. Lol heh
On a serious note: I always thought any shift away from trump would require taxes be passed first

By Vinci Go To PostObama broke conservatism. Trump is just a symptom of how badly.Yup. It's like the concept of a black president was something they just couldn't comprehend. Especially with that one term president shit.
If anyone can PM me the PoliGAF discord link. I'd appreciate. I was a somewhat active poster there in the last year.

Double Edit: I didn't think I'd be saying this in 2017, but thank goodness Kid Rock isn't running for Senate. (What a time to be alive...)
Trying to get a info on the Poligaf server if anyone can help. Like it here and think I'll stay but I needs my fix.

On the last page TheHunter said to PM him for that.
There's finally a way to tell if you've been quoted. Just click your profile! Pretty neat. I'm sure they'll implement a color change quote feature similar to GAF at some point.

LOL, any other year I'd be praying for him to run so that he loses spectacularly. But I'm never going to think like that again.
On one hand, anyone standing up to Trump is doing a good thing. So, welcome aboard, Bob Corker.
On the other hand, nothing we've seen from Trump has been a surprise. To go all Denny Green for a moment, he is who we thought he was. That's why we opposed him last year.
Meanwhile, this was you.

He says here he regrets it and wouldn't do it again. That's pretty huge concession from a sitting Senator.

Follow-up question, Senator: Do you now wish you had supported Hillary? Because there were two choices in that election.

A sitting senator who isnt running for reelection, the sad part is they all feel this way but are too scared of their idiot voter base to come out and say it.
By Fenderputty Go To PostHow long until Trump tweets? I need some oppo
Funny you should ask
Still waiting on whatever follows the ellipsis.
Edit:
Calling a senator from his own party incompetent.
That's not usually a good sign for a successful presidency

Tax breaks need to happen before they turn. His base seems to be shrinking, no?
By ned_ballad Go To PostObama might have broke it, but the racial resentment had been brewing for a long time.
I hate reducing this down to racism when a black man ran twice and won both times against much more well known names with even less favorable demographics than 10 years ago. This is not saying that a larger portion of the conservative base isn't racist. It clearly is.
The problem is that a portion of independents and republicans did take a chance on Obama and when he couldn't completely turn the 8 years of Bush around into a complete utopia the far-right who was never going to vote for him because he as black, was able to successfully convince the previously moderate right that it was all the black guy's fault and that everything else was a conspiracy and fake news. The far-right basically saw an opening to say, see we were always right and galvanize their base, hence Trump...
It's going to be a while be soon the more moderates will get out from under the spell and realize they have been had. I will give it to the far-right. They know they have successfully prolonged the process and chances with their "Fake News" campaign which helps the bubble stay intact.
So I guess the new word Trump has learned to reflect is incompetent.
He heard a new word and was dying to use it in a sentence, though.

Corker has zero incentive to work with Trump. The continued insults and alienation from Trump are only encouraging Corker to continue to split from him. These emotional outbursts are so weird and counterproductive.
By Fenderputty Go To PostI retroactively feel like I maybe should have saved it for an account suicide at a later date. Like after a couple weeks when the site is overrun with GG'ers.
That's my thought, although the temptation is huge.
I might not make it through the morning.
I figure giving sl&ent a shout-out on my way out is the way to go.

I don't know about normalizing, but who here wouldn't take W over Trump, though. We might not like the policies, but at least the fights would be normal.
Yes, W got us into some quagmires, but put Trump in that position and I think we come out far worse.
republicans in senate are such little bitches. you gotta back your own when someone goes after you, not turtle away in your shell. smfh
By Method Go To Postrepublicans in senate are such little bitches. you gotta back your own when someone goes after you, not turtle away in your shell. smfhThey are all afraid of being yelled at during their Town Halls. Breaks their illusion that real America loves them and what they stand for.

I know it's early, but Bush did way more damage than it looks like Trump is even capable of producing IMO.
When tax cuts eventually fail, the base will break between the hard right conservatives and the true Trump believers. I can see it coming.
By Frankish Go To PostI know it's early, but Bush did way more damage than it looks like Trump is even capable of producing IMO.
Domestically, maybe. His incompetence and short attention span is detrimental to their policy goals, but in international & military affairs, it's that same incompetence that could destroy the planet.
W could have the "nucular" codes is what I'm saying. Trump should be nowhere near that button.
By Frankish Go To PostI know it's early, but Bush did way more damage than it looks like Trump is even capable of producing IMO.The full extent of Trump's damage won't be known for a few years. We have the benefit of seeing the consequences of Bush's presidency due to it ending a decade ago.
Bush was far worse fuck that. Also Trump helped expose Republicans for what they really are, anyone who was slightly right leaning or centrist now sees the party for what it is. At least he’s done something good, albeit not intentionally

For a long time I thought he was doing it on purpose to expose them, but he ended up winning them over, and how he's stuck.

Is there any indication the tax cuts will fail? I thought they only needed 50 votes, which seems easier to get for tax cuts than healthcare. That's assuming they don't have to make cuts to medicare/medicaid/etc. in the same bill, which would probably make it dead in the water.

Corker can talk shit as much as he'd like, he knows he's safe. The rest of the Republican party won't follow suit or will just stick to insult Trump cronies instead (see: McConnell v. Bannon)

Pretty much. Of all these naysaying Republicans, the only ones to actually go against Trump on anything meaningful are Collins, Murkowski, and McCain.
I guess Rohrabacher's finally gonna get some discipline.
