One key word. Non-binding plebiscite. Fucking fuckers. Literally the biggest waste of money here $122 million when we have this "Conservative Government" (conservative on perceived values but fucking spend til they're caught with their pants dropped) tell people to have a "respectful" debate (respectful my ass).
The only thing this "debate" has provided is further tensions and divisions among the community and retarded Christian groups talking up shit and dragging the whole fucking kitchen to their argument which has NO substance to the actual debate.
All the plebiscite asks if SSM should be allowed. Then you get trash Christian commercials throwing fucking tangents into their argument. Heck, I'm straight as fuck and even have a Catholic upbringing and am more than happy to support SSM on the grounds of believing everyone is equal and should be equal. Not to mention we're meant to be living in a secular society, but we know that all BS.
Fair enough if some people don't want SSM because of their religious upbringing (or they don't believe in equality), but don't for one fucking second drag children into arguments about telling society that children of single sex parents will be considered a lost generation when you have all these fucking idiots out there who desert/break up their own families and have children growing up with single parents! (Not to mention other plethora of crap that has been mentioned).
Honestly, the currently Australian Government since 2013 has been one of the most destructive Governments in recent times in Australian politics. Heck, they're not even bother trying to hide how fucking corrupt they are. What's even worse are the idiot sheeple out there who believe in the nonsensical crap that's put out there!

A lot of people are ill-informed and lied to and think that allowing gay marriages means your religious establishment has to marry gay couples and will get sued if they don't. Basically they don't understand the difference between religious and civil marriages.
There's also a minority of people, probably in rural areas, who aren't exposed to LGBT folks and think it's just a "choice" people make
