Time to buy an articulating wall mount.

Anyone have experience with either? Leaning towards the Ergotron, but the Amazon one is pretty much a 100% copy and 30€ cheaper.

By Kibner Go To PostAmazon Basics line has done me good in the past, though I have no experience with their wall mount.Yeah, I keep hearing good things about the Basics line, which is why I'm considering it. Ergotron are kind of a staple of monitor mounts though and the price difference is small enough. Not sure I'm digging the chrome look, but since it'll be hidden behind the screen ...
The Ergotron is butter smooth, I don't know about the Amazon one.
The HD version of the LX is the undisputed king of articulating arms, but it's 2x the price, which I really don't feel like paying for something I might not be tinkering with at all after the initial setup. At least not for another year or so, when I plan on going full retard with a flight / space sim setup.
My getlist for the rest of the year is a 144 hz monitor, elite controller for my pc and a 1080 and probably a new computer chair

looks like i9 processors and x299 will be released on june 26.

Deus Ex and Hitman play as expected, with the latter particularly enjoying the 10 fast cores, but Total War is well off the pace. The game appears to suffer from unexplained stuttering, and once again, the latest BIOS saw average FPS climb from 48.2 to 74.9. Core i9-7900X goes on sale in a matter of days, and it remains to be seen whether or not these performance irregularities can be ironed out in such a short space of time.

Nothing worked, then I had a look at the card itself, had some dust on the fan.
Cleaned it up, all good now. Must've been overheating.
By Kibner Go To PostYup, and the DAS is merely an average to above average mechanical keyboard.
I'm sure I could have gotten something with more functionality but I adore the look of it and the fact it's not lit up like a christmas tree. For a first mech keyboard and what I use it for it's perfect.

The DAS uses MX Cherry switches which are the standard for mechanical keyboards. Some companies have their own custom variants of the Cherry while others use completely different switch technology.
I have bad finger joints so I have tried so many different switches to find the ones I like most. Sometimes, though, I have to compromise on the switch to get the layout and form factor I want. I can't have everything. :(
Guess how I spent my last 3 hours?
Most of the components in my sister's build have come, with the case arriving tomorrow. All she needs to order is a WD 2 TB Black HDD and a EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 Superclocked Gaming ACX 3.0 GPU; both out of stock everywhere. So I was pirating her old Dell XPS 720 and found a EVGA GeForce 550 Ti... back in the day that was one of the best mid-tier value GPUs. Now my machine is in the middle of a planned upgrade for years, my rig uses the integrated GPU (no video card, 1st major problem). So I went to see if the card is even viable with today's gaming; unlike my sis I do play new stuff. The results are kinda surprising:
On high settings, you're getting anywhere from -50-60 FPS, and Fallout 4 on high like 30 FPS. That's not bad for a card you could buy for like $25 today lol. Decided to take it out of her old computer and install it into mine... everything worked but I needed to install the drivers so I could display correct resolution, which took me into the 2nd major problem of my build: insufficient space on my SSD. I have like 500 MB of space on my SSD left due to not realizing Office installs on the C: drive, so even though the card works I can't install drivers for it. Oh well.

Hah, that's pretty good for a six year old card. The x50 and x60 series are really nice budget card lines from Nvidia and have been for a while now.
By diehard Go To PostThe GTX 1060 6GB is a good alternative. I'm assuming your budget is around $250?
I have one in my laptop. It's legit.
By Lupercal Go To PostChecked the cables, monitor gpu etc..Welp, it's officially dead now.
Nothing worked, then I had a look at the card itself, had some dust on the fan.
Cleaned it up, all good now. Must've been overheating.
Image went away again with sound still going.
Hooked up the PS4 to check, it's definately the monitor.
Dusted it out in/outside, still no luck.
I think my panel must be burned out.
Ordered a 144 hz display then. I deserve it.
Might try and fix the broken one to use double screen.
The power draw on the i9 is fuking insane. I'm disappointed tbh. Was waiting for this release for a long time and I might as well hang on to my 4930k. Everything about this is rushed to hell. AMD seems to have really spooked them.
By Zabojnik Go To PostFuck the temps on the 7700k.OC or in base mode?
By The Frankman Go To PostOC or in base mode?Just in general. Even with all cores at 4.5ghz it sits as high as 70-75°C in Aida64, which doesn't leave much room for overclocking. And it's not like it runs much cooler when gaming. Was checking it earlier in Prey. With CPU utilization at 30-40% max, it was hovering around 68-70°C. I'm running the fans on my BeQuiet! Dark Rock 3 on what Asus calls the Silent profile and they don't go higher than 1300rpm iirc, but still. It's a big ass cooler and I was expecting better. I see why delidding is so popular with the 7700k, lal. The chip doesn't appear to be a silicon lottery winner either, I think I'll play around with OC a bit longer and look to settle at 4.7ghz < 1.3v.
Not that I really care. I'm not much of an overclocker by nature, I much prefer low noise to 5-10fps gains.
Oh, ffs. The damn 1060s are being snatched up now, too?
lmao. My timing for this endeavor sucksssssss.

By The Frankman Go To Posterrrr…. why are 1070 cards suddenly being priced up over 200 dollars? Did something happen? With the spike in bitcoin pricing people are buying up cards in hoards. First it was the RX 580/570 but since supply is now constrained people have moved on to others cards. I read that 1070 are a good alternative for mining.
It's gonna spike even more when 3D rendering make the switch to GPU rendering.
There's a few GPU-based rendering companies out there, but when Arnold, the Film industry's leading CPU-based rendering engine switches to GPU based rendering soon, you'll see the spike go higher, i reckon.
VFX studios gonna be snatching up GPUs for their render farms.

GPU's don't work well at all for Bitcoin, they work for coins that use algorithms like Ethash that was designed to not work well on ASIC's.
The EVGA 1070 card I was waiting on went from $419 to $699 across multiple sites. I'm seeing that from a few other companies too, I have to look for a new card now. So far Asus, MSI, and Gigabyte seem to be the least untouched (sorta) of the Trusted companies, so I'm looking at them so far.
EDIT: How do you guys feel about Asus GPUs? I've heard some hit or miss stories with them in the past, but alot of their 1070 cards I'm noticing are under $400 or are around that price after rebate on NewEgg. The ASUS GeForce GTX 1070 Dual has some good reviews from what I see...

Had the 1070 strix and 1060 dual. Didn't have a problem with either. The issue with Asus is if ya shyt fuk up their customer service is woat

Kinda why I wanted to go EVGA since I've dealt with them for a long time; since she ain't OCing I think I will take the plunge though.
EDIT: You're fucking kidding me the Dual/Turbo/half the Rog Strix 1070s just went out of stock on NewEgg WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON???
EDIT 2: Ok just talked to a NewEgg rep who said it may be a stock clearing issue, check back in 30 minutes to see if they go back In Stock. Fuck this shit.

might lose out on KP, hours from drafting Ntilikina
and feeling the inflation on GPU prices.

Yea, I'm not happy about this GPU situation either. For all of this, I might actually try and scrounge a few more dollars and upgrade some parts. That is, until this machine finally has it. At that point, my hand will be forced.

By diehard Go To PostI think he is trying to get a 1070 @ $350Heck, 1070s are like $450-700 here now. The card I was looking at went from $409 to $639 overnight. It's now "generously" listed at $544.
EDIT: Another EVGA 1070 I was just looking at that was $449 just shot up to 606 right now. Somebody is buying up tons of this shit.
I unplugged a HDMI cord to output through my TV then replugged it into my monitor and am now having a lot of aliasing issues. I'm not sure how well this plays but heres an example
Any idea what's wrong. It says I'm on my usual resolution. I'll notice artifacts too like on the Overwatch logo when I boot the game up.
I restored defaults on Nvidia control panel and that might have fixed it?

If the monitor or video card has multiple plugs, you may have used a different pair than before. That would change your video settings.
Question: I'm buying 16 GB memory for an MSI Z270 SLI Plus mobo. The rating says it takes DDR4-2400 MHz, 2133 MHz, 2800 MHz (O.C.), 2600 MHz (O.C.), 3000 MHz (O.C.), 3200 MHz (O.C.), 3600 MHz (O.C.), 3800 MHz (O.C.). My question is this: If I buy DDR4-3200 memory (going by Hazaro's PC Thread), I don't have to do anything to make it run at that frequency right?
You may have to enable XMP (extreme memory profile, iirc) or something similar in the mobo bios to get them to run at the rated speed.
By Kibner Go To PostYou may have to enable XMP (extreme memory profile, iirc) or something similar in the mobo bios to get them to run at the rated speed.Ah. I'm wondering because I'm trying to see the benefit of DDR4-3200 vs the base 2133/2400. There are some slight gains in some games, but it most it's largely unnoticeable. And again, she's not playing the games where a large difference is made in that, plus DDR4-2400 RAM is priced cheaper.
EDIT: "• Supports Intel® Extreme Memory Profile (XMP)**" Yep you got it Kibner. Thanks!
