they're doing just fine
you seen their earnings reports?
Smokey also be like, "have you seen Microsoft's earning reports? They don't need to fix anything about the Xbox."
By diehard Go To PostYes, they are just being dicks. G-Sync dies if they do that though.Other than them being dicks, is there maybe some hardware limitation on nvidia cards preventing Freesync support or is it 100% dick move on nvidias part?
there's nothing stopping them
they like to make money
its like ms opening up xbl, which they did, for cross platform play.
why would sony do it

Was told to consider reading this thread http://www.overclock.net/t/1591590/xeon-hacking-and-overclocking-x79-x99-beyond-x58/0_100 and seek out Xeon procs that are 8c/16t. Apparently they are compatible with some messing around on X79, and they are relatively cheap

What are you considering using it on/for? That's a Sandy Bridge part, it are you going to have to have a pretty huge good overclock to compete with like an i7-4930K for bang for your buck.
Is anybody using Outlook for email? Which version is the considered the best these days? I've been on 2010 forever, think it's time to move on, lol.

speaking of xeons,
I'm also planning to get 2x 2687w but I'm leaning towards 2670 v2 because its scores higher in passmark and 3d render benches
while having a lower watt, 115w vs 150w.
but diehard, didn't you say one time that v1 and v2 xeons weren't compatible?
this whole time I was thinking they have different sockets.
so my understanding is v1 and v2 use the same socket mobo
while v3 / v4 have another, correct?

Yep, v1 and v2 are socket 2011, v3 and v4 are socket 2011-3. Maybe i said you cant put a v1 and v2 in the mobo together?
ah ok, maybe I read it that way before.
lol i've purposely ignored v2 Xeons just because of how I read your post months ago.
I'm definitely gonna go 2670v2 now.

I want a wireless, mechanical, ergonomic keyboard. I doubt it will ever happen unless I jury rig one myself. I've been tempted to do just such a thing. Especially since my current ergo keyboard of choice has a ton of empty space in its shell.
Hmmmm.... found this thing. It is an adapter that changes any USB (and various other input types) to a bluetooth connection for $40. I would prefer a different transmitter type than bluetooth, but can't find one. This would definitely solve my issue as I can connect it to my PS4 and Steam Link. Battery life is roughly 10 hours of use per charge, depending on how much power the keyboard needs. It uses a standard mini-USB cord to charge.
By data Go To PostI can't tell if I'm supposed to buy a 4k monitor or a 122hz monitorI'm waiting till I can get a nice gaming monitor that does both and HDR on a VA or better panel for $1,000 or (preferably and likely) less.
How is the Steam link? I've got that new 4k tv and I really want to play my controller based PC games on it but I'm wondering how much of the quality is lost through wireless. My PC is close enough that I could technically just get a long HDMI cord and replace it, but I dont want to do that every single time I want to play something on my TV from my PC

My PC is close enough that I could technically just get a long HDMI cord and replace it, but I dont want to do that every single time I want to play something on my TV from my PCQuality is similar to the good 1080p Twitch streams. It's not perfect, but only really shows in fast moving games that also have stark color separation.
It adds a very slight amount of input lag with my setup (dual band wireless connection from PC -> router -> cat6 connection from Steam Link), but not noticeable unless you play a competitive fighting game on it. I think it's about 13ms for me; I can't remember exactly. Performance and quality can be worse if using wireless on both ends or better if wired on both ends.
Reminder that it is limited to 1080p, 60 fps and does not support HDR. It does have three USB ports and can pair with bluetooth devices.
If you have any other questions about it, please ask.
so my brother got an AMD 295x2 two years ago and paid $500. Today he sold that card for $860. Life isn't fair.
The new Power play tech looks cool from Logitech. Not dumping my G900 tho. It holds it's charge well and when it's time to reload, I plug USB cable in and can keep using it while it charges.
Started playing around with overclocking yesterday, followed a nice guide from Asus. So far I'm getting 4.7ghz stable on 1.25v. I think I'll settle for 4.8ghz at 1.3v max, if I can make it work. I've got more than decent cooling with the Dark Rock Pro 3 and temps are already up there in the mid 70s.
powerplay is the worst thing I've ever seen
there's a cable 2cm from the mouse
how is that useful
I'd much rather just have a dock

By ReRixo Go To Postpowerplay is the worst thing I've ever seenYou don't need to worry about it? Honestly, it'll be much more useful when they figure how to power both a mouse and wireless mechanical keyboard with it. Wireless all the things. I'm okay with charging just my G900 with a cable (might get around making a DIY dock one of these days).

I wish people would stop buying all of the fucking graphics cards. :( What's a decent alternative to the RX 580? I hold no allegiances to these companies, so I don't care if it's an AMD card or Nvidia.
By diehard Go To PostThe GTX 1060 6GB is a good alternative. I'm assuming your budget is around $250?
If It's possible, then yes.
Friend of mine just built this rig and put it on FB. Has following specs:
Case: NCASE M1
CPU: Intel i7-7700k
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-L12
RAM: 32GB DDR4 Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000MHz
SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 1TB
Motherboard: ASRock Z270M-ITX/ac
GPU: Nvidia GTX 1080
PSU: Corsair SF600
Fans: Noctua NF-F12 x4
The monitors are Dell 24'' UItrasharps
Beast machine. It's hard to not be drawn towards doing a small power rig like that especially as I look at the huge (but great) Air 540 on my desk.

After buying and then quickly re-selling my cloud 2 headset, as I absolutely fucking hated it, I started searching through whatever I wanted instead (had to have microphone). So now I finally got my Steelseries Arctis 7 after a 40% off sale.
Quite impressed so far. I have seen a fair few complaints about the headband not very comfortable for them (apparently for people with giant heads, it sits real tight), but none of those problems for me. Sound quality is so so, good for gaming, not for music. But I got my Denons for music, so not bothered at all. Microphone according to people in my discord wasn't very good, but whatever, my experience with them is way better than with the cloud 2 shit headphones.
The reach for the wireless stuff is very impressive, I could even go down stairs with my garbage and it would still work fine. But it's not bluetooth, so again not exactly a headset made for listening to music on your phone or whatever, but not bothered by that really.

I had an old pair of steelseries for a long time. They were great, but kept breaking. Had 3 of them (they replaced them twice!) and couldnt bother sending them in a third time, so hoping these lasts a bit better. Their customer support was fucking great though, just replaced it with no questions asked and got a mousepad each time as well in the shipment.
Now I just kind of wish I bought a steelseries keyboard as well, to not have all these different driver and control boards.

Still rocking the Sennheiser 363D as my main headset for both PC and console gaming - https://en-us.sennheiser.com/gaming-headset-pc-363d
Going on 4 years now, had them since launch. There's a revised model out (373D), but don't feel a need to move. They're great. Only knock is the wires which is when I went with the G533 for a while, but had to end up taking that back some time ago, as the mic wouldn't work for whatever reason.
Probably just stick to Sennheiser moving forward.

2 weeks into my DAS4 keyboard and I can't believe how long I went without a mech keyboard. I really do miss some subtle key backlightingbut I don't miss the LCD screen from my G15 that much.

240hz is nice and all, but really the difference from 144hz to 240 is a lot less noticable than 60 to 144. I love the one I bought (Benq Zowie XL2540), but unless you play way too much CS, or old school Doom or Quake, or something like that, it's hard to recommend getting over other screens.

I'd imagine there's very little perceptible difference when gaming between 144hz and 240hz.
Yep it isn't huge, but it can certainly be spotted if you just spend a bit of time in a quickly moving game.
