By Smokey Go To PostDid a fresh install of W10 and moved back to the Creator's Update. As part of the fresh install, I decided to wipe all of my drives. There was too much stuff spread out across my 3 drives, and I've been wanting a clean start for a while anyway.I thought Witcher 3 saves were cloud based with GoG Galaxy?
Only regret is the Witcher 3 save file. I know my time was in the upper 20 hour range. Won't be replaying that again, gg.

Does anyone have any experience setting up Murmur? Should be straightforward, but for some reason I can't get it to work with my public IP.
I haven't, but I assume you've read this wiki entry: https://wiki.mumble.info/wiki/Running_Murmur

Smokey, how's that Corsair cube case working out for you?
since Dell and their stupid proprietary cases, I wont be able to put 3rd party cases on those T7600 chassis.
Planning on getting a dual socket Supermicro mobo.
I think i'll finally have time this Summer between gigs to start building.

Still going strong. Love the dual chamber design. Thought about Enthoo for a while, but I like the layout of the Air 540 too much. I think the only way I'd upgrade is if I was going to a CaseLabs or similar brand.
cool thanks, I'm really digging the 540, but I really wish Fractal Design made an ATX/E-ATAX Cube.
I like Lian Li, but lol but they need to fly kites with those prices.

So, I have a feeling that my pc (or certain parts rather) are knocking on death's door, so I'll need to get something sooner, rather than later. I'm using this
http://techreport.com/review/31846/the-tech-report-system-guide-may-2017-edition/10
as a buyer's guide of sorts. I do a lot of editing in Premiere and the rest of the adobe products, so it's mainly for that, but...I want to be able to run some games and stream too. So, I'm not sure if I should focus on AMD or Intel gear? I don't particularly care which. I also only have a budget of 1k (I was looking at the sweet spot builds) and already have a monitor to use.

So I sent my K70 in for repairs. I've been using my super old Logitech UltraX Media keyboard in the meantime and I think it might legit be the worst typing keyboard in the world. I have no idea how my hands survived using it for a good couple of years. The keys are so hard to press it's literally painful to, not even joking. Logitech have come a long way.
By Kabro Go To PostLooks like we have another ryzen candidate.Yup. Look into the Ryzen processors, Eldritch. they have more cores for a cheaper price than Intel which really helps your Adobe products run faster. The cores are a little slower than equivalent Intel chips, so it may hold your fps back a little if you are gaming with a 1080 or better. Worth taking a look in your case, though.
e: more cores is more important than small increases in clock speed/efficiency for you
bought a logitech g102 (known as g203 in europe and america) mouse, love it. simple design, no tacky gamer jet fighter look and it feels very nice.

Would have gotten that, if it weren't for Logitech scrolling wheels fucking me over too many times now. The whole reason for getting a new mouse was that happening again.
Got this instead now
Had to get used to it after a g502, which is one of those hyperXxXGamingz mouse that looks terrible, but really is quite comfy. Don't really miss the g502 anymore though.
Tempted to get this table, but I'm not sure what I will do about using two sets of keyboards and mice...
Will also have to get a hanging net or something to hold all my accessories.
e: it has a mousepad that covers the entire surface of the desk

If only I knew this was a one-day deal.
By Phoenix RISING Go To PostIf only I knew this was a one-day deal. You can get a Zowie mouse like what Wooden linked in his post for less than that and it tracks every bit as good. I recommend it unless you need the extra buttons, lights, or wireless mode.
e: all those different models are just different casings to fit different sized hands and hand grips. They all use the same internals.

I don't think the scroll wheel problem is exclusive to Logitech, every mouse I've owned by different manufacturers develops that problem eventually after a few years.
g900 is 2ugly4me
Seems like a nice mouse though. But this time after several mouses of that kind from Logitech, I just wanted a simple lightweight one.

Anyway finally bought a new monitor. It's not here yet, but been watching over about 10 different +144hz ones just waiting for one of them to go on sale. XL2540 was the first one, and I am not well happy to enter the 240Hz master race now.
I used to use my wacom quite often as well, it was a nice replacement every now and then. But haven't had it plugged in forever now, I really should just sell it.
does this windows 10 creator update make alt-tabbing out of games take longer? I never used to have a problem, now with the CU it takes like 30 seconds to tab back into CS

It's due to the CS update apparently. I got the same problem (not 30 seconds, but certainly increased a lot).

I see a bundle on th 17-7700k where they throw in the ROG MAXIMUS IX HERO on Amazon. Nice savings, but going for the MSI Z270 SLI Plus.
Sis's build Parts List - italicized means decided/getting

CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) Intel - Core i7-7700K 4.2GHz Quad-Core Processor
CPU Cooler: CRYORIG H7 Tower Cooler For AMD/Intel CPU's
Power Supply: Will look for towards the end of the build (Corsair brands come up alot on your list). May need a 650W one.
MOBO: MSI - Z270 SLI PLUS ATX LGA1151 Motherboard
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 with 8GB GDDR5
Memory: 16GB (Maybe Corsair Vengeance RMB?)

this shyt crazy
Their new strategy is renaming Xeons

RIP X79, 4930K
Priced at $1,999, the 7980XE is clearly not a chip you'd see in an average desktop. Instead, it's more of a statement from Intel. It beats out AMD's 16-core Threadripper CPU, which was slated to be that company's most powerful consumer processor for 2017. And it gives Intel yet another way to satisfy the demands of power-hungry users who might want to do things like play games in 4K while broadcasting them in HD over Twitch. And as if its massive core count wasn't enough, the i9-7980XE is also the first Intel consumer chip that packs in over a teraflop worth of computing power.
If 18 cores is a bit too rich for you, Intel also has other Core i9 Extreme Edition chips in 10, 12, 14 and 16-core variants. Perhaps the best news for hardware geeks: the 10 core i9-7900X will retail for $999, a significant discount from last year's version.

The next CPU down the stack is compelling as well. The Core i7-7820X is the new 8-core / 16-thread HEDT option from Intel, with similar clock speeds to the 10-core above it, save the higher base clock. It has 11MB of L3 cache, 28-lanes of PCI Express (4 higher than Broadwell-E) but has a $599 price tag. Compared to the 8-core 6900K, that is ~$400 lower, while the new Skylake-X part iteration includes a 700 MHz clock speed advantage. That’s huge, and is a direct attack on the AMD Ryzen 7 1800X that sells for $499 today and cut Intel off at the knees this March. In fact, the base clock of the Core i7-7820X is only 100 MHz lower than the maximum Turbo Boost clock of the Core i7-6900K!
The Core i7-7800X is another interesting part. With a price tag of only $389, it has 6 cores, 12 threads, 3.5 GHz base clock and 4.0 GHz Turbo Boost, 28 lanes of PCIe and the same quad-channel memory interface we see in the processors above it. This CPU is only going to be $50 more than the Core i7-7700K that we see as Intel “mainstream” flagship CPU, a quad-core processor that runs on the Z270 chipset. And at that price, it is $10 UNDER the MSRP of the Ryzen 7 1700X.

Well, I'm glad I didn't wait and went with the 7700k. See you in ~4 years, 8 cores / 16 threads.
In other news, my K70 is back from the repair shop. Looks like they simply replaced the whole thing, including the wrist rest. Good guy Corsair.

Noticed that when my PC has been on and unused for a few hours, I get mouse-lag to the point that it needs restarting when I'm playing a game
