By The Frankman Go To PostSmokey, is there any way I can contact Hazaro on GAF? I know he answers questions and shit on messenger, can't find anything in the thread.
Don't insult a war vet with electroshock therapy, reilo.
i used to have him on steam
but i can pm if you want
By diehard Go To Postpeople trying to demonstrate 144hz and HDR on a youtube video is still funny to meSame but add wide gamut for people that don't have that kind of monitor.
Eh, you can still get a general idea, if you know what you're supposed to be looking at. The brighter brights are quite apparent even in a YT video.

By Smokey Go To Posti used to have him on steamIf you can do that so I can get e-mail or IRL, anything where I can chat with him real time would be perfect. I have 3-4 weeks to finish this build and I am hoping to get some things ironed out.

We 8K now
8k = 16x 1080p
Battlefield 1 (medium - high - ultra): 30fps ~ 60fps
CoD IW (normal - high - ultra): 30fps (Single GPU)
Crysis 3 (high - very high): 30fps ~ 60fps
Forza Horizon 3 (high - ultra): ~30fps (Single GPU)
MGSV (high - extra high): 10fps ~ 60fps
ROTR (high): ~30fps

they make 4k sound trash after seeing/playing in 8k lol
kept mentioning it when I had them but...2x 1080Ti is top tier af
First configuration that was too fast for my resolution and current setup. They hitting 60 fps in BF1 with a few setting modifications.

yeah
downsampling will have to do unless you splurge for the 8k dell monitor
forza horizon 3 looked insane even with YT terrible quality.

industry moves on this stuff at such a slow pace too
I need to look at where wireless tech is headed. At this pace I don't know if internet connections will be able to keep up with improving video quality.

Forgot to post that Acer announced their top end monitor, the Predator X27. Same specs as the Asus 27AQ, but may be a few hundred cheaper
funny thing is i saw on another forum how Acer actually gets the better panels from AOU, and not Asus.

That ugly double chin. Nobody asked for it. Would pick the Asus on looks alone, if I was in the market for a 2K€ monitor.
New work setup. Keyboard is an MK Fission w/ Cherry Silvers. Keycaps are double shot PBTs that I snagged from Massdrop. Makes my eyes so happy.
Got sick of yet another logitech mouse wheel failing on me, and went with Zowie EC2a after people recommending it. Looks super simple which is a plus really, but a bit less comfortable to hold for me. It's lighter and better to use for FPS games though.
Now just to decide on a new screen. Want 140hz at least, so thinking PG248Q with G-sync. Only struggle is it's not 1440p, which another of my screens is. But the 1400p monitors with 140hz are fairly fucking expensive or really big, I just want another 24".
Then... To upgrade my 970gtx soon. But currently I am pretty much only play CS and then a bit of Persona here and there.

You may want to look into the return policy of where you bought the Zowie mouse from so that you can try out the different versions. They all use the same internals and other parts; the only differences are the shells. It would be worth spending the time to find the one that is most comfortable for you.

Thanks for the advice, but it's not uncomfortable, and is a pretty perfect fit for the size of my hand. But I just do prefer the more shaped models like the logitech 502 that I used before, for causal web browsing. I did have a look at the bigger version which was clearly too big.
Yeah, so, the Iiyama 27" IPS 1440p monitor I recently acquired turned out to be pretty damn good for the money. I thought I'd keep it (I still might) for a year or so, see how things shake out with HDR and the yet to be rumoured / announced high-refresh ultrawide monitors.
However - and despite the disappointing release of the HP Omen X 35 and AOC's counterpart - the need to scratch that ultrawide itch is still there. I'm thinking about passing the Iiyama to my little brother and buying a mid-range 21:9, something in the 500-700€ bracket. One that's good enough for gaming and general use, to see how I like dat aspect ratio. I feel like it's the last piece of the 'new PC' puzzle.

By diehard Go To PostMicrosoft is so fucking stupid. "Windows 10 S" ….
What's the problem?
Microsoft is really aiming this at the education market, and its goal with Windows 10 S is to have a wide range of PC partners creating devices that run this new variant of Windows 10. Devices will start at $189 this summer, and all machines will ship with a free subscription to Minecraft: Education Edition. Windows 10 S will also be free for all schools that are currently running Windows 10 Pro PCs, and include free Office 365 education with Microsoft Teams.
By Smokey Go To PostWhat's the problem?"Really aiming this at the education Market" ... Proceeds to sell $1000 consumer device pre-loaded with said OS.
The Windows Store is trash, this is basically RT all over again.. only it can't run on extremely cheap ARM based devices.
That feeling when the only audible thing in your case is the old HDD you're keeping around because you were too cheap to ditch. That terrible, terrible feeling.

My PSU is now the loudest thing in my computer. I'm probably going to replace it with an HX850i, i really really should just get a Seasonic Prime Titanium but being able to use Corsair Link on my PSU might just be too tempting.

LG 34" Curved Ultrawide FreeSync Monitor 34UC88-B @75hz on MassDrop for $650.
It is on Amazon for $860, so that's a pretty good savings.
e: appears to have a 15ms input lag, which isn't bad.

By Smokey Go To Post15ms is…. bushes for a monitor? For a TN panel, yeah, it would be well below average. For an IPS monitor (which this is), it's not bad. It also only goes up to 75hz so you are losing just a single frame. It wouldn't be noticeable to 99.99% of people.

HPC is a fundamental pillar of modern science. From predicting weather, to discovering drugs, to finding new energy sources, researchers use large computing systems to simulate and predict our world. AI extends traditional HPC by allowing researchers to analyze large volumes of data for rapid insights where simulation alone cannot fully predict the real world.
Based on the new NVIDIA Volta GV100 GPU and powered by ground-breaking technologies, Tesla V100 is engineered for the convergence of HPC and AI. It offers a platform for HPC systems to excel at both computational science for scientific simulation and data science for finding insights in data.
In this blog post we will provide an overview of the Volta architecture and its benefits to you as a developer.

“We need to find a path forward for life after Moore’s Law,” Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang said at the beginning of his annual GPU Technology Conference keynote. But Nvidia isn’t hesitant to throw around more iron to make its ferocious graphics processors even more so, as evidenced by the reveal of the first product based on Nvidia’s badass next-gen Volta GPU.
Nvidia’s high-end “Pascal” processors still rule the graphics roost, though AMD’s rival Radeon Vega GPUs are scheduled to launch before the end of June. Volta helps Nvidia take some of the wind out of AMD’s sails before Vega even hits the streets, even if the Tesla V100 GPU is focused on data centers.
This beastly GPU—both in size and capabilities—boasts a whopping 21 billion transistors and 5,120 CUDA cores humming along at 1,455MHz boost clock speeds, all built using a 12-nanometer manufacturing process more advanced than that of Nvidia’s current GPUs. By comparison, today’s Pascal GPU flagship, the 14nm Tesla P100, offers 3,840 CUDA cores and 15 billion transistors. The GeForce GTX 1060 has a quarter as many CUDA cores as the Tesla V100, at 1,280.
To fit all that tech, the Volta GPU in the Tesla V100 measures a borderline ridiculous 815mm square, compared to the Tesla P100’s 600mm GPU. Monstrous.

At this point you should just be on a buy/sell/buy/repeat cycle with every hot new GPU that comes out every year. This whole "sell my current GPU in anticipation of the next Titan" shit you're doing is nonsense lol
The amount of tech deals you Americans get is frankly disgusting and shows utter lack of respect for the world the rest of us live in.

Before starting the game, open task manager and flip to the performance tab (the one with all the graphs). If you right click on the CPU graph, you can change the view to show all the logical processors.
Play the game for a minute and then go check those graphs to see if something is being more heavily utilized than it should.
I'm assuming you have Windows and your drivers all up to date? Also, what OS are you running? Do you have other programs going at the same time as those games?

Have you OC'd the cpu yet. If not you're being bottlenecked. The duos could be a result of your GPU utilization depending on how hard the CPU is working at that time.
When you say maxed out , does that include AA? Most benchmarks online won't include AA in their settings, it can totally kill framerates.
