I knew Raptors had a good December defensively, but I didn't know they'd played well enough to get into the top 10. They were pretty rough that first month.
Bebe factor.

I am sure that I will called out by name when they have another decent game despite getting smashed by the Magic
By chandlerparsons Go To PostHouston's top 10 material for sure 👀Knux, our teams are beasts, low key. Just need some better offense and we be straight.
The Wolves won a couple games without Zach LaVine and I'm seeing some takes I would describe as hot.
Which is weird when Zach is better than Wiggins. Send this post back to my 2014 self.

I don't watch many TWolves games, but I was impressed by Rubio's game (well, his passing) during the Rockets game. Does he get to handle it as much when LaVine's around?

Does he get to handle it as much when LaVine's around?Well, until last week, Ricky was fairly marginalized. He would often bring the ball up and then only create when the sets drawn up for Towns or Wiggins didn't work. But losing that Jazz game was this turning point where Thibs finally got fed up with Andrew Wiggins, ball handler, and it's been all Rubio orchestrating everything since. Zach played most of that Mavericks game and Rubio still dominated the ball.
The raw assist numbers are there, obviously, but it's also things like his drives per game are way, way up. It's just nice to see him playing his game again. He makes everyone look like a million bucks in a pick and roll. Nikola Pekovic sees the riches in his bank account and nods from his table full of meat in Montenegro.
By blackace Go To PostDamn shame if Wolves fan turn on ZachI think a lot of it is the defensive deficiencies that the Wolves have when playing Wiggins and LaVine together. Yes, neither of them is a good defensive player, but I have way more confidence that Zach can make himself into a not a negative on that end than I do for Wiggins.
I don't know if it ultimately is an either or choice, but if it is, I mean, Zach has the track record here of improving his game and tangible progress.

I'm glad Thibs is utilising him more.

For me, the most important impressive thing was his turnovers (or lack of them, rather). 17:1 ast/to ratio seems bonkers to me, as I watch Harden hover around 2:1 night in, night out. Media / D'Antoni can label him a PG as much as they want, but I don't think he has it in him to take care of the ball like a true point guard should.

I'm glad Thibs is utilising him more.As Ricky has gotten older, he has worked really hard to cut down on the silly turnovers and things like no look passes just for the sake of being slick. This year, he has a 3.46 ast/to, second only to Chris Paul for pgs. Over this win streak, he has 46 assists and more steals (10) than turnovers (9).

He's an incredible two way player, but he can't shoot so people outside Wolves fandom don't appreciate him.

whose fault is that?
By rodeoclown Go To PostHe's an incredible two way player, but he can't shootIncredible two way player but he can't shoot, score or even be a threat to score? Nah. I like Ricky but I wouldn't call him incredible.
By rodeoclown Go To PostRicky is shooting 49% from midrange. He also sports a .445 ft rate. He can score.
🤔
Rubio's problem has always been that he can't finish around the rim (he can't or doesn't? use his left hand so he often tries to lay it in awkwardly) and he doesn't shoot it from distance well. But he's always drawn fouls and he has gotten to the point he can shoot okay from mid range.
I mostly don't buy the argument that his reluctance to call his own number is a problem or hinders the team in any way when it's literally never been an issue.

By chandlerparsons Go To PostPortland posting a 114.5DRtg last night after averaging 109DRtg for the season 👀
Where's Houston!?

109DRtg. Interesting.
By blackace Go To PostI am sure that I will called out by name when they have another decent game despite getting smashed by the MagicOr how about TWELVE games since Aminu came back which includes playing Spurs, Raptors, Warriors and Cavaliers in that timeframe?
Losing our pick this year is gonna suck but I was watching Dennis Smith and Lonzo Ball draftexpress vids......Fultz looks so much more well rounded.
I'm watching Duke/Louisville college B-Ball and I'm coming to the realization when Grayson Allen comes to the NBA he's going to get "tangled up" with the wrong player and absolutely get his shit pushed in. And I would not shed a tear.
Like Duke is down 6 and he's gotten "tangled up" like 3 times, flopped twice.

By blackace Go To PostDidn't they lose most those games?Weren't we talking about defense or you gonna deflect some more? And they beat the Cavs but you weren't hearing it. Look, the ultimate point is that you can puff your chest all you want about a bad defensive game or two, but over the course of the year if they're healthy the Blazers aren't as bad defensively as chandler's lame drive by posts have you believe. I wouldn't be shocked if Portland finished ahead of Houston in that category despite their putrid start.

They like him offensively, but I guess he kinda plays the pick n roll like shit on defense in the D league

Pre-Beverley return (26 Oct - 16 Nov: 11 Games): 105.4 DRtg (22nd)
Regular lineup (17 Nov - 17 Dec: 17 Games): 103.3 DRtg (8th)
Post-Capela injury (18 Dec - 14 Jan: 14 Games): 109.3 DRtg (22nd)
Is the injury excuse only valid when you use it, or nah?
In case you hadn't realised, I'm being facetious whenever I use your stupid eye emoji. Don't think Houston are top 10, but I don't think we're the worst like you gloated about after a handful of games, either. If we finish somewhere around the middle with only 3 dudes on our roster capable of playing a lick of defense, I'd be happy.
Wait, I was the one that said that? Bro, the entire world thought Houston was gonna be trash on D. I don't know why you're singling me out, I don't even recall speaking on it.
By etiolation Go To PostAlmost the entire league is trash on defense.
That explains a lot
Wow. We're .500 right now but apparently 2 games ahead of where we were last year this time.
As one of the worst shooting teams in the league and our defense is nowhere near where it should be.
Also, Wall deserves an all-star bid over Kemba now.

It was like, 'how many games until I can point out how trash Houston is?' The answer was four, apparently. It's pretty much the only reason I quote Portland DRtg/DBPM stats. It's funny in the same way Raptors fans point out their pancake schedule and then immediately proceed to lose to the Suns.
