Rose has troll-level master excuses, like when he was cutting apples in his bed and that was how he stabbed himself..
It doesn't really matter what actually happened, if you think the way Rose handled the situation had nothing to do with his playing time and the reported argument he had with Hornacek you're being naive.

EDIT:
New York Knicks guard Derrick Rose was not with the team for Monday's game against the New Orleans Pelicans to deal with a family issue, according to ESPN's Ramona Shelburne. So he leaves the team and only tells Noah like 1 hour before tip... huhn... ok.

By Apollo Go To PostI sure hope this is family shit and Rose doing anything nuts.
I, uhh, don't know about hoping for this.
I'm personally hoping that Rose just bailed because he's sulking about getting benched.
By IWMTB19 Go To PostI, uhh, don't know about hoping for this.Rose seemed his usual emotionless self after the Friday game and played the next night, was fine. If it's not a family issue, it's definitely not something pedestrian like him sulking unfortunately.

Look at that last 10. We trending up son. With teams finally settling in I don't see the Knicks catching anyone ahead of them if they keep this up. But they could be passed by a few of the teams below them. I'd like to get to that 7th spot and have a 15% chance at number 1.

Honestly the Knicks could get a quality PG at 7. Draft express has them right outside of that PG with upside bubble right now at 13 with Frank Ntilikina at 12 going to the Magic. If they do tank I think they should try and trade either Lee and/or O'Quinn for a late first or youth. Especially Lee he didn't sign up for this bullshit.

There was that and he recently compared him to a dude who used to perform in blackface in minstrel shows after shaq came after him for his new cut.

Tops 3. If we give a pick to philly this year we send our 19' first unprotected to magic keeping our 18' pick. If we get super lucky and keep our pick this year, we send two second rounders to magic in 17' and 18'.

Bert Williams (November 12, 1874 – March 4, 1922) was a Bahamian American and was one of the pre-eminent entertainers of the Vaudeville era and one of the most popular comedians for all audiences of his time. He was by far the best-selling black recording artist before 1920. In 1918, the New York Dramatic Mirror called Williams "one of the great comedians of the world."
Williams was a key figure in the development of African-American entertainment. In an age when racial inequality and stereotyping were commonplace, he became the first black American to take a lead role on the Broadway stage, and did much to push back racial barriers during his long career. Fellow vaudevillian W.C. Fields, who appeared in productions with Williams, described him as "the funniest man I ever saw – and the saddest man I ever knew."

We're gonna have the worst record in the league. Hopefully we don't fuck up and draft the next Beasley.

Last two games man! lol
Though I agree ... it's way to early to say he's playing like a #2 pick after two solid games in a row.
how is it that there isn't a single non-embiid rookie averaging even 10 ppg on at least 40% shooting

Simmons isn't playing. Ingram is like 10 pounds and is affected by a light breeze.
Hield is getting close and could be there by the end of January if he keeps up his current play. His beyond trash start created a huge crater that has taken him a long time to slowly crawl his way out of.

A lot of these dudes are super young and still learning to play. I've seen a lot of improvement from some guys over the past month and I hope it continues that way. Then you have guys like Papagiannis, Skal, Maker, etc who don't even get PT.

Players don't get fined for an excused absence for a family emergency.
Welp there you have it...... Hopefully they don't sign his ho ass long term.
I just don't get why you don't take 25 seconds to send a text. Family emergencies happen and are excusable. Letting Kerr or PT upset you and dictate how you act is only going to affect your earnings potential down the road.

This is a league where Rondo is still getting contracts. GM's are idiots.
I'm not willing to dogpile on Rose just yet, the situation still has lots of question marks all over it. Hope he didn't have some sort of breakdown.

Struggling to find 1 and 2 years contracts isn't earning your max potential though. If Rose wants to hop team to team trying to find shitty one year deals he's on the right track.

I mean his best chance was a deal with the knicks that maybe coincided with Noah's. However, between this, all those advance stats that show how he has been playing bad lately, the fact that Jennings might be a better starter next to KP than he is...... He should try his best to get a 2 year deal with the Kings........

Right, but isn't the above all the more reason to act as professional as much as possible?
What the Knicks do at the guard position will be fun to watch, Rose and Jennings are UFA. Best case scenario they nab George Hill or draft an NBA ready PG.
I still wouldn't call a Rose deal out of the question just yet, Coach is probably in hotter water than Rose.

Another interesting phrase:
Coley Harvey ESPN Staff WriterThat's... not what you want to hear when you talk about an athlete. That reminds me of the stuff Woodson used to say about JR Smith.
Jeff Hornacek says that as long as Derrick Rose is in the right mental state, he'll start Wednesday night at Philadelphia. The Knicks coach hasn't seen anything in conversations with Rose to suggest the guard isn't in the right place mentally.
I'm telling y'all, he was gonna get demoted to a bench player for last night's game and Hornacek wants to run Jennings as starting PG, and Rose didn't want any of it.
By reilo Go To PostI'm telling y'all, he was gonna get demoted to a bench player for last night's game and Hornacek wants to run Jennings as starting PG, and Rose didn't want any of it.
Totally possible, probable even, but I'd hate to shit talk Rose only to find out something serious went down with him or a close family member.
We would've known by now, and the fact that the Knicks opted to fine him? If "family emergency" was the case... why not come out and say it? Put out a real quote by a FO member and call it a day. Instead, PJ and management has been dead silent on this. Either PJ is a giant dick (probable) or Rose was throwing a hissy fit because of a demotion to the bench. There's more evidence leading to the latter (benched in consecutive games in the fourth, reported arguments with Hornacek) than the "sick family member" story.
If the Knicks were still over 500 and Rose was playing well and not getting benched for undrafted rookies do you really think he disappears on game day without the knicks getting notified? Hell no. Rose said he didn't pick up the phone when the Knicks were blowing him up because he "needed his space" thats such a fucking red flag. This situation reminded me of the whole apple cutting thing, Rose is just a weird dude. And hes not even good anymore! Forget not resigning him they should look to move him now. I thought this fiasco would get the Knicks to see that but the fact that Rose is not being suspended is terrifying to me. They better not resign him man...
The fact that Hornacek is quoted that Rose would start "if he's in a good mental state"... like wtf. If Jennings starts the next game, this shit is gonna explode further.
We didn't get "official" word on Hibbert's severe depression til way after the fact, sports world isn't exactly up to date on mental health issues. I'm gonna chill til details come out. NY media will have the word before the weekend most likely.
