By giririsss Go To PostI don't know about won. But they suns got good value. and those Heat picks were always going to be value picks with little to no protection.
^How the deal really went down
Sam Hinkie had such a good relationship with the press that he can get forced out of his job, see the team finally look like an NBA team after he's left, and then get all the good PR for it.
It's rare to leave a job, have the workplace suddenly get better and then get credit for it. Hinkie is more a genius at marketing than team building.

Well... people aren't stupid.
The 76'ers haven't got any players since Hinkie left that make any difference. All the difference makers are the ones he drafted and set up for.
I mean, to lay that out as "relationship with the press" is unfair to the man.

It's almost like 100% of the team's improvement came from Joel Embiid who was picked by Sam Hinkie.
Hinkie picking Embiid and his broken foot over Aaron Gordon, Dante Exum, and Noah Vonleh was pretty pretty great.

And having the patience too. Like ... we've seen GM's get flak and heat for drafting an injured guy, and then sort of forcing them to play to alleviate the heat on the GM.
Hinkie stood firm. Cost him his Job. Probably got him 10 more.

Yeah I actually wonder how long before a team hires him to try and replicate philly's tank philosophy. Maybe the Pels since they need to do something..... anything to get Davis some help

They have no draft picks for the next n years.

That would be Hinkie's job to acquire some.
I don't think Hinkie needs to be a tank GM. Dude sounds relatively smart .. if left of field.
I guess the good thing about the 76'ers job was he got to bring in A LOT of his own people. And i think that would be something he would have to do because of how he works.
Not re-hire lackeys. But ... he might struggle to turn a set in stone FO to his way of thinking.

Hinkie got fired because of the Okafor pick. Not the pick itself but what it meant. Jah going apeshit in Boston, allowed the league to step in and get Colangelo involved. Jah not fitting and making us worse, made it hard to defend any of the naysayers. Hinkie's introverted ways was then put on blast and it was a wrap. Mudiay sucks balls RN but considering Brett had dudes like MCW and Ish Smith look servicable, I imagine Hinkie still has his job right now.
Didn't Hinkie still have the chance to work for the Sixers... weren't they going to make him a co-chair?

They got vets which they lacked. Sergio is a more reliable PG to set up their bigs than what they had for years. They let guys like Ish Smith go when they could run the system. They finally said "Okay let's try,", which is a different message than what the players had been receiving.

This is complete nonsense. 100% of the optimism around the team is Joel Embiid. No one would be praising Philly right now if they were winning like Brooklyn without any of their prospects showing star potential.
I'm just so happy that Joel seems healthy
so tired of big men with such potential never getting right

holy fuck @ montrez harrel's stat line. 28 points on 12-12 shooting. This is the second insanely efficient game I've seen from him.

I am pretty sure a Jazz-Grizz playoff series would be the worst thing ever. It would undoubtedly go 7 games with neither team reaching 90 points in a game.
