I think the main thing you'd get from trading Melo is not having his contract for that many years, on a team that isn't competing in that time period.
The idea of floating him to the LAC isn't terrible, but you're not getting blake or CP3 back.
Boston might, But making salaries match will be ... difficult with out giving up half a team.
But NYK probably aren't netting the haul that BOS got for PP/KG.
And ... it has to be a big market and one where lala will be happy. Because of that NTC. So even mildly possible teams like Indiana and OKC aren't happening.

Eh he could stay or Go. I don't even think the knicks need to worry about cap space either to be fair. They have some time with KP. In fact the current structure of the contracts is good if the goal is to try and lure someone good during KP's prime. That was all pre this new CBA so idk if it still works but Melo doesn't need to leave for the future to be brighter. They just need to not be good now.....
