blazers are fine in many ways--the development of dame and CJ along with what they accomplished last year just has people putting them 2-3 years ahead of where they should actually be right now
the turner and crabbe contracts should not have happened--they should have looked to get a first, even a super late first, for crabbe, or even at worst a second, and they should have been patient--now they have to put their hopes in a god tier scouting job in the draft

Who was gonna hand over a first round pick for a RFA? And like I said, cap space is use it or lose it. They're in the same position signing AC/ET as not signing them cap wise (because they're over it regardless of their contracts) and under the tax. Long-term they need to fix their forward rotation and someone like AC could be the catalyst.

Well if you give bird rights in a trade then I'm pretty sure there were contending teams who'd love to go into the lux tax with a good player rather than not have the option of getting such a player at all and having to rely on late firsts to improve the team.

if zaza gets in via the fan vote (50%) and he doesn't get in on the media or player vote (50% together) then who breaks the tie?
Somewhere, 3SP is hammering out a lengthy "not his fault/here's why his .328 record shows he's actually great" defence.

people are smart enough to get high votes for giannas and to troll with zaza but somehow not smart enough to not vote in dwyane wade into a starting guard slot

Me, my girlfriend, my family, and like 12-20 basketball players have all gotten this year's stomach flu virus.
Why is it so powerful this year? This is fucked up :(

its gotten to the point where we need to invent new accolades--maybe its only for a year even, but when there's this quantity of individual accomplishment then the league needs to do something to acknowledge that

Don't worry. Justin Bieber will step in and knock Wade out of the #2 spot.
But I think the answer to your question is that it's a cumulative vote between smart fans and casuals. The Zaza thing has to be somebody's botnet or something.
By reilo Go To PostBecause they're losing games while he's out? Unless you forgot that Portland was one of the 9 teams to beat (actually blow out by 20+) the Warriors last year off of Damian's 52?Aminu being the backbone of anything is a terrible sign.
And it's not like CJ's been devoid of 30+ games this season playing next to him.
Plus their recent improved D goes back to exactly to what I've been saying: Aminu is the backbone that defense and he came back healthy when Lillard went down.
But naw... I think you at least listen. Dame on sale would get more than Deron Williams easily.

Pels fan/blogger Kumar told me that AD is the best PnR defender this year. I remember him being so terrible at it, so I went and looked it up and, yup, he's holding opposing roll-men to the lowest ppp in the league (minimum 30 possessions on the season):
http://stats.nba.com/players/roll-man/#!?sort=PPP&dir=-1&Season=2016-17&SeasonType=Regular%20Season&OD=defensive&CF=Poss*GE*30
AD might have finally moved into the category of an honest-to-goodness good defender this season, guys.
Also, E'Twaun Moore has been an absolute beast defensively.
For what? Jabari Parker or Andrew fucking Wiggins? Parker is on a Top 10 defensive team and has a negative defensive rating. If Portland's problems are defensive, how does getting guys like that make any damn sense? Even Rodeo doesn't like Wiggins. I'm hanging up.

Its their long-term potential with their current assets.
Most likely, but I don't see how getting someone like Andrew Wiggins solves our long-term issues.
But then again, it's just another day ending in the letter Y where people want to shit on Lillard for no reason.

I remember when you said Damian won't be shit after Aldridge left and that Aldridge was the reason for his success, so, cool gif.

By Smokey Go To Postreilo sounding like prime gondoI'm like the anti-Gondo on this one. Gondo justified the trade of Harden at every opportunity. I'd stop watching the Blazers for a long while if they traded Damian for someone like Wiggins or Jabari. People don't realize how much he means to the team (and the teammates) especially as he's having his best season as a pro.
There's worse fates in this league, like trading away Chris Paul so you can suck, end up drafting Anthony Davis, still suck only to repeat the same mistake once AD gets disgruntled (not far off).
I'd rather Portland attempt to fix the problems by figuring out how the surrounding pieces don't work, rather than operate on the ridiculous premise that Damian is the problem. He wants to be here, he made Portland his, and that's a rare thing to find in today's NBA -- something I literally went through with LaMarcus 18 months ago.
By Smokey Go To Postreilo sounding like prime gondoLeast his FO is willing to spend.
It also sounds like prime rockets who try to convince the world Ariza is shit.
are we sure the pelicans haven't had a 5 year cap penalty
like, its impossible not to be able to max out a good player to come and play with AD in New Orleans right?
I mean cmon

This is the opposite of the OKC situation, if anything. They thought they could cheap out on a star player on the rise and then they decided to just pull a "our way or the highway" over him because they thought they could replace him with a few cheaper moving parts. And look how that turned out.
By Smokey Go To Postreilo sounding like prime gondoits really a lot like the Utah situation - except much less playoff success and there's no coach being shot in the back
So the answer to Portland's problems is to do what Utah did and then be a sub-40 win team for the next five out of six seasons before they actually make the playoffs again? Why would I want that? Deron got traded cause he was a disgruntled coach killer that didn't want to be in Utah anymore but let's gloss over that.

You should trade MKG while there's still time. Maybe next year he'll make the leap or forever he be your (overpaid) Aminu.
By DY_nasty Go To Postyou typing jittery as fuck right now lolYeah, but you're spitting some nonsense.
Trading Lillard fixes nothing. They're better off trading their supporting cast around him.
