Sonos is good stuff. Wish the price barrier of entry wasn't so high, but they're easily the best to do it.
Yeah the fact the very cheapest speaker is 200 bones is a steep entry point. The overall product is superb though, setup was as beautifully "it just works" as you could ever ask for, didn't even have to re-enter any passwords or anything, my Apple Music account just immediately works fully.
The reviews I read all agreed that the entry level speaker is a good buy though. It's good enough that you don't need the Play 6, which is like 500 bucks, and apparently it sounds better than the mid-level speaker too.

Has their desktop app improved at all? Been two years since I used it and it wasn't very good back then. It does things really well of how you can connect multiple sources (Spotify, Google Music, Apple Music, SoundCloud, etc) but the overall UX is pretty poor. Not sure if they improved it.

Supposedly it's been improved a lot reilo though by how much I can't say because it's my first foray into wifi house speakers. I would say it's a lot like iTunes which isn't a great thing but at least it's familiar enough.
