The Getaway was good. Not really similar to GTA in any way other than similar gameplay themes tbh. Story took itself way more seriously and it was a very narrowly focused game. The Getaway is more akin to Mafia 2 tbh.
The Getaway was one of the first games I remember with health regen. Get shot a bunch and just lean on the wall to make it all go away. Game was shit.
