By Woodenpapangus Go To PostI watched the first Twilight movie and … ehm… It wasn't too far off, the 3 Harry Potter movies I watched. All of them poop shit.Watch Breaking Dawn Part 1.
By Vivalapizza Go To PostLukakus first touch in and around the box is poor.I'd be very interested to see him in a team where the opposition plays so deep that the striker's first touch has to be spot on
Maybe Chelsea would just bypass that though and use him as a battering ram

No I'm good. Also fine with not watching any more Harry Potter.

I don't know if it's been mentioned but Jenkinson's move to Crystal Palace has reportedly collapsed over "personal terms".

By Hitch Go To PostI'd be very interested to see him in a team where the opposition plays so deep that the striker's first touch has to be spot onThat's why I rate Kane higher than Lukaku. I feel like he gets marked down tighter, and tends to come against teams that sit deeper. Which is why I think Kane can look a bit useless at times, when his first touch is off, nothing comes off.
Maybe Chelsea would just bypass that though and use him as a battering ram
By Hitch Go To PostI'd be very interested to see him in a team where the opposition plays so deep that the striker's first touch has to be spot onMy hope is that him being surrounded and supported by better players might mitigate his clear flaws at Everton. Wooden is right though about his shit attitude. He seems like a bad teammate on tape. On paper he's clearly world class. Only Aguero has more league non-penalty goals over the last four years.

By Laboured Go To PostAny Top Boys considering playing Long War 2 mod for XCOM 2? It's out.I'm considering it.
All I need to know about Lukaku's attitude is that he saw Torres, Eto'o, and Ba in the squad and didn't think he could compete with them.
I don't want him back.
Let Costa leave and use the funds on Griezemann and James. Done.

There's been a heap of journalists lately suggesting Chelsea are gunning for Morata, though I've got no idea if that's actually substantiated or just because of the former connection to Juventus/Conte.
Either way... You'll be alright.
I personally do hope you're able to keep hold of Diego. I'm well aware he is a controversial figure and that he's loathed by many but I think the man adds a certain flare to the EPL which it's sorely lacking - as well as being a magnificent footballer in his best of times.
Would be a great loss.

It's not like we were thrifty last summer (without CL revenue as well) anyway - bought a 30m+ striker just to keep him on the bench.

Kessie is on and I would love that after watching four of the games that he scored in recently.
But they're saying new world record numbers for Griezemann and Real would expect their money back on James. That's not us anymore. Double time now that we're about to destroy and build a new stadium.

I'd be more than okay with Morata, Kessie, Bakayoko, and possibly another wingback or two and someone to compete with Pedro and Willian.
The new stadium costs are not accounted for when they calculate FFP so it shouldn't really make a difference to how much we spend on transfers.
Lukaku ain't world class
Numbers are good but he doesn't, yet, have that edge that means he delivers in the crucial moments
He's more Giroud than Aguero

selling Lukaku a bit short there, he's prolific in an Everton set-up that isn't geared towards creating a boat load of chances. Backed up by Hazard and Cecl, I reckon he would be quite effective - Drogba-like
By Vivalapizza Go To PostLukaku ain't world classZlatan has a history of not delivering in "crucial moments", too. Not sure why a 23 year old should get knocked for that. No one claimed Lukaku is world class but at the very least he is a very good player with bags of potential and the only reason he seems to get flak is because his attitude rubs people the wrong way which to me is eerily similar to the shit talk David Luiz got just because of his hair.

I didn't say Ibrahimovic is world class, so why that comparison I'm not sure.
I don't know much about his attitude but that is not similar, let alone eerily similar, to someone's haircut. Your attitude is a fairly big factor in how well you do.
And I did say "yet", acknowledging that is he is still a young player.

A spokesperson for president-elect Donald Trump's inauguration committee told CNN that Friend of Donald Kanye West was not invited to perform at the real estate mogul's inaugural because 'Ye's music wasn't right for the "typically and traditionally American event." Tom Barrack, chairman of the Presidential Inauguration Committee, told CNN's Erin Burnett that the inauguration wasn't a "fitting" venue for West, who famously met with Trump in December and posed for a stiff photo at Trump Tower afterwards …
"He's been great, he considers himself a friend of the president-elect, but it's not the venue." Kanye, who was born in Chicago and performs a style of music, hip-hop, that was invented in the United States on the streets of Trump's New York in the late 1970s, performed at MTV's Inaugural Youth Ball in honor of President Obama in 2009. "It's going to be typically and traditionally American, and Kanye is a great guy, we just haven't asked him to perform. And we move on with our agenda," Barrack added.

By Diego! Go To PostI know we made an effort at the start to abide by the rules. I am not sure what is going on now though.IIRC Roman wants the club to be self-sufficient, which it seems to be doing. I remember reading last season was the first time we've made a profit.

Why don't all transfers to better teams work out then?
You can just as easily make the same arguments in reverse. All Everton do is feed Lukaku, it's easy for him to look good there.
The fit is determined by the players characteristics, technical and mental.
By Ciaran Go To Posthe said on paper world class, not actual world class.

Im not sure that makes much sense tbh. And not sure why you would put stock in that. That just sounds like a player with high potential, or perhaps some other issue like injury or a shit team/manager.
Pogba is a not a good comparison either because at least he has been playing and proving himself at the top level for the last few years. Lukaku hasn't done that.
By Perfect Blue Go To PostJust saying Zlatan never gets knocked for flailing around in big games throughout his career but that same criticism is used against a young player with very little, if any, experience in playing in big games.I think Ibrahimovic has had that criticism attached to him for a long long time.
It's not just about playing in big games which is why I didn't say big games. Lukaku has often failed to produce for Everton/Belgium or missed simple chances at key moments, like 'easy' games at home or simple chances late on in matches.
My idea of world class goes out of the window with strikers
I couldn't really say that any of Aubemyang, Lewandowski, Suarez, Aguero, Costa, Griezmann, Ibra and Higuain aren't world class, but I try to restrict it to 4 players per position.
At least Benzema has done the decent thing and removed himself from that group.

I don't think Roman is interested in sitting on a big pile of cash and there is only so many #prospects Emenalo can sign to send out on loan to make more money.
What a weird list of players at the top three
By Wedward Go To PostDoes FFP even matter anymore?I don't believe it is or ever was. The club is profitable since winning the Champions League and continuing to buy players and then selling them off at a profit is the formula. Patrick Bamford just two days ago sold for four times what they paid for him.
I was under the impression that Chelsea's decision to stop spening so big was not related to FFP.
It's not that much of a reach that Roman would get antsy and splurge on a huge signing but it's also unlikely. We're competitive with a new manager who is winning with largely the same group of losers we had under Mourinho. The pieces are there to keep that up but depth needs to be added.
If we can sign 3-4 players for under £100m, bring one or two loanees back to contribute and then sell/cut over paid deadweight like Fabregas, Matic, Ivanovic and Terry that would make a huge difference.
If Costa goes to China all bets are off though.
By Hitch Go To PostMy idea of world class goes out of the window with strikersThis term gets through around a lot but there are clear arguments that can be made that put at least Lewandowski, Suarez and Aguero ahead of the others names mentioned there. Mostly consistency, which is imo the critical factor when it comes to the very best players.

Costa is a good player, sure, playing very well right now. But he was so shit last season I couldn't fairly say he's as good as those others.
Since Ibrahimovic has been mentioned, I think you could set him apart based on the fact he's been playing in a joke league and not done much out of it for the last few years.
Similar arguments to be made against Higuain also, and maybe Griezmann who has apparently been really crap in lots of important games for Atletico.
