By KingGondo Go To PostGotcha.
Hope they can continue to put out stuff even close to as good as their last album.
Since that's my absolute favorite record since Suburbs, I doubt it. Not even a dig either. Just that albums as strong as MVotC don't come along often.

By PSYCH! Go To PostMvotc is their weakest album thoIt's not very often that you come across an objectively wrong opinion, but this right here is one of those times.
By GringoSuave89 Go To PostThe Black Queen's debut album is available now. Five tracks in and I love it.
Just got home and started listening. It's so fucking good.

That's just wrong. The themes and ideas explored in MVotC is miles ahead of what's in VW and Contra. And the music has never been more confident as a result.
Disagree. Hannah Hunt is a top 5 VW song though. I Couldn't really vibe with the rest of the tracks. It's their Reflektor.

Reflektor is regressive musically and you can mostly tell they weren't completely in control of the material aside from a handful of songs.
VW's never written anything as intimate as "There's a headstone right in front of you/And everyone I know" or "Through the fire and through the flames/You won't even say your name/Only 'I am what I am'/But who could ever live that way?"
I hate the idea that artists have to "grow" their art, but the fact that they're wrestling with ideas usually reserved for a Dylan or a Neil Young record is pretty remarkable, and it's even more impressive just how confident they are through it all.

Oo need to check this out. He has a show near me next week. Need to listen to this and decide if I want to go.
For anyone into converge/the armed, the new Arms album is fucking great. Been listening to it on repeat for a week. Stream for free, or pay what you want to download https://armsfl.bandcamp.com/album/blackout
Haha well it's not quite the same as the lines aren't connected, but even the verge stole it from somewhere https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Penrose_triangle
By reilo Go To PostWow great rec on The Black Queen. Although why do they use the Verge logo?

My new jam friend described it as
"its like a guy is wigging out hard and really into the track, grunting and howling with enthusiasm right next to you on the dancefloor"

By Enron Go To PostNada Surf released an album last week, its pretty good.
Wait, what? Awesome, there's my company for the weekend. Also the new Explosions In The Sky is out today. I listened to it while in bed yesterday so I was half asleep but I liked what I heard even if it's a tad bit different from their usual stuff.

I just don't know how I feel about the new album yet. Its obviously not as good as Dangerous Days, just going off of what was released so far. Anyways, check the vid for Sentient.

Venger is amazing - but I think reilo may have been to say it.... it really feels more like a movie OST than a real album. Dangerous Days was a hard act to follow though.

I can definitely see/hear that.
It has a film-esque feel to me. Kinda like how I could visualize Kissland playing out from start to finish. I don't know that I like this more than Dangerous Days though (or Carpenter Brut's Trilogy for that matter). I had to warm up to the jazzier sections, but I fuck with them now.
Does James Blake talk go here? His album is fucking amazing.

I'm convinced VERS/US is the best track and it got left off the album entirely. Really feeling some type of way.

Yea. I don't know why it was left off either. They put it on the bonus album, but I feel like it would have fit in sequence on the full version. Song is gdlk.
A.K Paul - Watchin U (demo)
FUCK
He's gonna be on NAO's debut album that releases on 7.29.
I really hope The Paul Institute wasn't just for that Landcruisin single.

I don't know why it took me this long, but I really love The Vaccines' English Graffiti. It's quite different from say, What Do You Expect From The Vaccines? but I was instantly into the album the moment I hit play.
By P-SY Go To Postenjoying the new Blood Orange album.Oooh, I'll need to check that out.
Catching up with this thread/site after a long ass time. So much great synth-pop/rock being posted rn. Also the bass in that new Justice track GOD DAMN.
Some cool new/newer stuff I've been listening to recently:
Jank - Wut I Liek Abt U
Jank - Caitlyn
PUP - DVP
The Happy Bullets - The Vice & Virtue Ministry
^^^
This one is old as hell but I just found out about the band and they're awesome.
