Been through new Grimes once and new Floating Points once.
Grimes is fun. Its the natural progression for her.
Floating Points is sensational. Really loving it.
Also Depression Cherry > Thank Your Luck Stars
Days of Candy >>>>>

I love Days of Candy
But the dreamy guitars of Elegy to the Void are just the greatest, I wish they'd venture more into that 'shoegazy' kind of guitar sound

New Grimes is fucking trash like the single she put out for it.
Beach House and Grimes with huge disappointments this year.
shame.

That's too bad. I have really enjoyed all three.
The biggest shame is that we have to wait for the new DIIV album till 2016 for some reason. They already played half the album at their live shows. Even at a show I saw earlier this summer. It was planned for this year :(

By reilo Go To PostThe new Grimes album is a delight. She's new to me so this is taking longer to connect with me than her earlier stuff like Visions.
Definitely gonna give it a few more spins before I judge it though.
I found the new Grimes album pretty mediocre, but I'll give it a few more listens later.
What's wrong with the new Beach House though?

Kill v Maim is a banger.
I'm glad Grimes moved on from that boring lo-fi bedroom indie pop shit. Put me to sleep with its blandness.

It really is amazing. Incredible how many different versions of songs he has. And they are all great. Mainly because the lyrics are just timeless.
Visions of Johanna is spectacular.

lol. just noticed this. Was during the Arsenal game.
I know we don't really have a pop thread.. so thoughts on Adele's album?
I Miss You is the best record on this album.
Listening again this morning, the production is phenomenal in that song. And of course I looked up the producer and it just so happens it's the only track on the album produced by Paul Epworth of (Rolling in the Deep) fame.
It feels like the least safe song on the this whole thing, with an almost 'Burial' -like introduction and an interesting rhythmic drum progression. There's a sense of confidence and intimacy to it that the rest of the album does not display. I would have liked to see her go more in this direction rather than all the overly dramatic, schmaltzy piano love ballads.

Beach House released ANOTHER album last month? I just stumbled across it on Spotify and read up on it.

I don't know about this video, but this is an amazing cover.

Also I don't think that counts as indie/alternative, but far as can tell this is the only music thread that isn't hip-hop, SO FUCK IT.

H. Jon Benjamin recorded a jazz album! One small problem: he can't play piano.

That was hilarious.
I just discovered Nocow and loving it. He does mostly IDM but also does some nice Dub Techno 2 of my favorite subgenres
By Fenderputty Go To PostThat was hilarious. The album is actually good too. Doesn't outstay its welcome, the other musicians are good, and Jon's playing is charmingly bad, not abrasive.

I was wondering how an entire album would be. Like it it would wear out it's welcome in a song or two. Might check it out.
By Perfect Blue Go To PostNEW CHAIRLIFTI feel like all the good songs have been released already. Listened to the rest of the album this morning in the car and nothing outside the singles really did anything for me.
YES
By KingGondo Go To PostMan, EL VY's first album is great. Been stuck on it lately too.
Really like it too. I love Berninger's voice
So Rostam has left Vampire Weekend but will continue to make songs with Ezra and VW and Ezra just announced the next Vampire Weekend LP with the Working title "Mitsubishi Macchiato".

By KingGondo Go To PostI really like VW but I kinda assumed it was Ezra and three tagalongs. What was this guy's role in the band?Co founder, Ezra handled the lyrics while Rostam handled the music and production. Rostam is also a songwriter and has helped write a ton of VW songs but has also worked for other artists.
VW is/was Ezra and Rostam's band.
