By faridmonBy XulutovEditors are simply amazing !
Their first album one is (one of my favourite albums ever!), their second one was ok, but the rest are just horrible. Never was I fan of a band that fell of so fall so badly (well them and The Strokes for me)
If never heard of them
try listening to "Wild Beasts - Wanderlust"
very unique.
By pilonv1Can't stand Tame Impala personally. Much prefer something like Ball Park MusicI also do not like Tame Impala so I looked up Ball Park Music and I like this. Thanks.

By faridmonveterans such as Cut Copy and Architecture and Helsinki and you have a little country with massive talent in music.
I still remember hearing The Owls Go on the radio in... 2003. Fuck I'm old, Jebediah celebrating 20 years makes me feel positively ancient
By LiniusFoxygen's debut was quite something. But I guess also due to personal differences between band members it never got much further than that. And they have a terrible live reputation. There was more potential there.
I saw them live, and they were just boring. No charisma, no energy.... they just played their music which was by itself devoid of any character.
I personally thought their first album was alright. I can see why some consider it really good, but it hasn't grabbed me since, but yeah, their later discography just became mundane as they just went on.

Lol
They were quite unknown in Europe until they released their 3rd album ''In case we die'' that's when I got hooked on. Jebediah is an old band though so I can you anxiety, lol
Maybe in my top 5 album of the year and its only March!

By faridmon Go To Post Balthhazar are actualy coming to birmingham for a gig. Are they worth seeing live?
If you like their music it's very worth it. They're even better live than on record. I've seen them four times in 2013 and 2014. Enjoyed it every time.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZAVGvwF2jk">Here's one of their songs live at Best Kept Secret 2013. And there's a lot more to find on Youtube in professional quality. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BwBxvjHp2r8">Whole BKS gig. Here's https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQIqY6eyVN4">live at Ancienne Belgique. And last but not least performing their biggest hit live at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aKMTjwfF3cI">Lowlands 2013.
Hmmm, you say that they are good live if you are familiar with thier music? well, the problem is, that I don't know anything about them, so I am wondering if they are enjoyable going in blind, as you have mentioned previously, their last album is good, so I might get that beforhand.
Those performances look good, but I am actually worried that they might not perform that widely given the fact that they are not playing in a festival, amd they are playing in Birmingham where they might be relatively unknown.
EDIT: actually the ticket are quite cheap and they are playing in a very small, intimiate venue. Fuck it; I am going.
Well I'm not really saying they're only good if you know their music. Just reassuring that if you know them you will love them no doubt because they're great live. But obviously if you don't like the kind of music they make you won't like the gig :P
And hey, if it's cheap and at a small venue you probably can't go wrong anyways. Get a beer, enjoy the night and have a blast maybe.
Well, I didn't know if thats what you meant, since a lot of bands I have seen live are only as amazing as they were, only if their material is known beforehand. But yeah, I am going now, might as well get their album there!
On another note, We Were Evergreen just posted this on their facebook:
A new album? Single or just track? Whatever it is, I am certainly excited. Loved their debut and looking forward to hwatever theycook next.
For the first two singles of the album you can check out their bandcamp page.

By Linius Go To Post I've tried listening to that Satellite Stories album from begin to end but it's not for me. It's a bit too bland and cheery for my taste. Though I admit having double standards there since I dig CHVRCHES and Purity Ring for example. Guess it really comes down to the sound.
I personally its anything but bland. The folky flutes adds a lot of depth to otherwise a genre that is known for its forced Powerpop hooks. The vocals are quite washy, while cheery, have certain shoegazy nature. Its not heavy, nor is it tuned to compliment the elctro-synth background, ala, Passion pit. The only thing I would complain about it is that its abit too busy in certain trakcs, which goes againt their original goal of being a minimal synth band.
I suppose this type of music is not for you (Do you like the likes of Passion Pit and early Cut Copy?) but to be fair. CHVRCHES and Purity Ring are not comparable to Vagabond (Or have you gone back to their previous albums which I think it was quite average). They are completely different type of music, as those two are more aligned with Chillwave inspired synths while Vagabond is very heavy electronically fused guitar play. It is entirely possible to enjoy those two band and not Satellite Stories :p Personally, I don't like them both because of their Poppy nature as well as the base drop they rely on which Is taken from East London's style of Urban Electronica.
Honestly its in top 5 album so far this year and we already had so many amazing album this year:
In no order, top 5 this year
- Transfixation by A Place to Bury Strangers
- Rat World by Menace Beach
- Vagabond by Sattelite Stories
- The Dark Black Groove by White Ash
- Era by Echo Lake
By psychintellect Go To Postman, why did I ever listen to Yellowcard when I was younger? they are/were so bad.
Meh, I used to Listen to The All-American Rejects and I still do like them to this very day despite their emo nature. Yellowcard aren't so bad if you listen to them knowing their themes!

Oh I can still listen to My Chemical Romance's and Panic at The Disco's earlier stuff no problem. Sum41 as well.
Yellow card just sucks! :p

Haha, fair enough.
I used to listen to them as well, but haven't heard that name in a very long time.

This is fucking great, great rec.
By dark_prinny Go To Post Hi indie SL&ENT don't know if you ever listened to Vetusta Morla. They are a Spanish indie band and I think they are pretty good cjeck them out if you don't mind music in Spanish.
They've got some relaxing stuff. thanks for the recommendation even if I dont' know what they're saying.
Speaking of not undersanding a single lyric, I've been going through Animal Collectiv'es discography and without a doubt Strawberry Jam is their best album.

Wow, they sound great. Love the accoustic guitar and how it blends with the bass smoothly. Not big fan of the vocals though. Thanks for the reccomendation.
I do listen to a lot of Spanish indie bands actually, but none of them sing in spanish. Believe it or not, Spain, currently is the most active country in the Post-Punk Revival and Dance-Punk scenee/Genre. Some of the bands amazing bands everyone should listen to are:

Nice! I've been reccing it to anyone that is willing to listen and got a lot of positive responses.

Is this first you listen to them? because I think their previous album Worship is even better. My favourite album the year it came out and had a nice balance between noise reverb and Post-punk Melodies. While I love Transfixation, I really miss their bass/GUITAR driven melodies that was present in their previous recordings. Their new record doesn't even have a guitar play, its just noise!
Really excited by it actually. ''Piss off'' is such an apt single as well! The track seems to be a perfect middle ground of punkish attituude of the 80s and Franz Ferdinand signature of hooks and melody. Love the vocals as well. Really excited by this project (except that I am not big fan of one-off projects, but I can't resist for this one)
They are doing a small tour together, but it seems the tickets seems really expensive. Ypu going to their gig in Amesterdam Linius?

I actually though you were intrested since you are one to shell out big bucks for projects such as this, but yeah, the tickets over here is around £40 which is above me.
Speaking of which, I am off to see A Place to bury strangers. Really excited to see them live. Missed them like 4 times but this time They are here for me to experiences ehier crazy antics live. Can't wait to go crazy!
Well I do pay up for things like this. The Replacements for example. But it's just that I'm not the biggest fan of FF anymore, so I can't really justify myself spending that much. Especially knowing that Sufjan Stevens and Blur are still due to announce gig dates. So I'd rather keep my money around for now. Might have to travel abroad for Blur again.
Have fun tonight!
