I haven't posted MLB stuff because I've been in SuperBowl mourning, but some of the things I've read... Jesus
Fuck Loria, thank God he might be gone from baseball.
Indians signed LHP Boone Logan to a one-year, $5.5 million contract.Great signing, allows Cleveland to stagger usage of Miller and Logan.
The deal includes a $7 million option for 2018 or a $1 million buyout. Logan is a strong addition to a bullpen which was already a tremendous strength. The 32-year-old southpaw posted a 3.69 ERA and 57/20 K/BB ratio over 46 1/3 innings with the Rockies in 2016. He held left-handed batters to a 142/.222/.255 batting line.
Mets re-signed LHP Jerry Blevins to a one-year, $6.5 million contract with a $7 million club option for 2018.Great deal, Mets really revamped the left side of the pen with Smoker, Gorzelanny, Edgin, and Blevins.
The contract was agreed to last week and then finalized Thursday after Blevins passed the necessary pre-signing physical. The option for 2018 comes with a $1 million buyout and Blevins has the opportunity to earn another $100,000 each year through performance-based incentives. The veteran southpaw posted a cool 2.79 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, and 52/15 K/BB ratio in 42 innings last season out of the New York bullpen.
Jung Ho Kang has agreed to enter an alcohol treatment program. This is kinda sad, the dude was blowing up and now suddenly his life is in disarray
The news comes from Kang's agent, Alan Nero. A joint panel headed by MLB recommended that Kang enter a treatment program following his third DUI arrest in December. Getting treatment could reduce any potential punishment Kang receives from the league. Pirates GM Neal Huntington previously said he expected Kang to be ready for the start of spring training, but it's unclear if Saturday's announcement changes that. The 29-year-old was removed from South Korea's WBC roster shortly after his arrest. He has a February 22 trial date in South Korea for his December DUI arrest and must be present at the trial in Seoul; the Pirates' first team workout is scheduled for February 17 in Bradenton, Florida. Obviously that is going to create some conflict. The DUI arrest was Kang's third in his native country, and in this latest incident the 29-year-old had to be tracked down by South Korean authorities because he fled the scene of an accident. He's in real trouble, both in his native country and possibly with Major League Baseball.
Starling Marte told MLB Dominicana that he's moving to center field in 2017.McCutchen went to being one of the worst center fielders in baseball somehow. Hope he's not breaking down.
Marte has primarily played left field since arriving in the big leagues, though he did start nine games in center last year. This means Andrew McCutchen will be moving to one of the two corner outfield spots. That will be an interesting transition as McCutchen has never played anywhere but center field since debuting in 2009. McCutchen has never played anywhere but center field in the major leagues. Starling Marte will take over in center, with Gregory Polanco moving from right to left field. Most advanced fielding metrics scored McCutchen as one of the worst defenders in baseball at any position last year. He suffered a down year offensively as well – delivering a sub-par .256 batting average, 24 home runs, 79 RBI and six stolen bases. He played through some nagging injuries that may have hurt his performance. The 30-year-old will aim to return to form as a perennial MVP candidate when the season gets under way.
Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports reports the Dodgers have agreed to a one-year, $3 million deal with free agent right-hander Sergio Romo.Romo wanted to stay out West, plain and simple. Five teams wanted him, including the Mets.
The contract is pending a physical. The Dodgers have been linked to Romo for days, so it's a hardly surprise to see him land in Los Angeles. Romo has closing experience but worked as a setup man last year in San Francisco. He'll occupy a similar role in Los Angeles, working ahead of ninth-inning anchor Kenley Jansen. The 33-year-old posted a respectable 2.64 ERA while providing 14 holds last season. According to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports, Romo took "significantly less" money to sign with L.A., so he must have really wanted to be a Dodger.
ESPN's Buster Olney reports that Joe Smith will make a $3 million base salary in his new one-year deal with the Blue Jays. Was also a Mets target, stunned they didn't pursue him.
The deal includes $500,000 in performance bonuses. Smith, 32, is coming off a 3.46 ERA and 40/18 K/BB ratio over 52 innings between the Angels and Cubs last season. He had some uncharacteristic issues with the home run ball in 2016, but he's capable of being a competent bridge to closer Roberto Osuna.
Royals signed RHP Jason Hammel to a two-year, $16 million contract with a mutual option for 2019.Good re-signing, but the Royals aren't the Royals anymore.
The deal was reported over the weekend and it became official Tuesday after Hammel passed his physical. According to Rustin Dodd of the Kansas City Star, Hammel will make $5 million in 2017 and $9 million in 2018 while the mutual option includes a $2 million buyout. The Royals emerged as a fit for Hammel after the tragic death of Yordano Ventura in a car crash last month. The veteran right-hander put up a 3.83 ERA over 30 starts with the World Series champion Cubs last season.
Brian Wilson is hoping to pitch again as a knuckleballer.Dafuq?
This is exactly as odd as it sounds. Wilson – who once consistently sat his fastball in the mid-to-high 90's – has not pitched in the majors since 2014. He tinkered with a knuckleball on the side during his big-league career, though, and has been honing the pitch in the interim. On Wednesday, he threw a 30-pitch bullpen mostly consisting of knuckleballs and within the last month, he has thrown for "at least two teams," according to Yahoo Sports' Tim Brown. Wilson turns 35 in March. It's a longshot that he makes a major league bullpen via his flutterball prowess, but late career renaissances with the pitch are not impossible. Look no further than R.A. Dickey, who only began throwing it when he was in the vicinity of 30 years old.
According to Forbes, Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria has a $1.6 billion "handshake agreement" to sell the team.
There were reports earlier this winter that Loria was shopping the franchise, and it sounds like he has found an offer to his liking. Forbes says the unnamed buyer is a "real estate developer based in New York" – the profile fits, but we can probably rule out president Donald Trump. Loria paid just $158 million for the Marlins in 2002 and then opened a new $639 million publicly-financed stadium in 2012. Good things happen to good people? At least Major League Baseball might finally be rid of the guy.
Fuck Loria, thank God he might be gone from baseball.
Blue Jays signed LHP J.P. Howell to a one-year, $3 million contract.Toronto beefed up their pen with Smith and Howell.
The deal was agreed upon in late January and then finalized Thursday after Howell passed his physical. The soft-tossing southpaw posted a 4.09 ERA and 1.40 WHIP in 64 appearances last season for the Dodgers, but he held a dominant 1.97 ERA over 200 appearances with Los Angeles between 2013-2015. He'll work as a lefty specialist for Toronto.
How bout fuck face Loria making big bread off the Marlins and Ivanka Trumps father-in-law being a part of the investment group purchasing the Marlins.
Mad upset the Jays couldn't get Logan nor Blevins. Oh well. I'm okay with Howell, good player even if he's weird af.
Guess we will fight for the wildcard this season.
Guess we will fight for the wildcard this season.
Brandon Phillips traded to the Braves..
The second baseman is headed to the Atlanta Braves as part of a three-player trade.
The Reds received left-handed pitcher Andrew McKirahan and right-hander Carlos Portuondo. McKirahan, 27, appeared in 27 games in relief for the Braves in 2015, posting a 5.93 ERA. He had Tommy John surgery in 2012 and again last year. Portuondo is a 29-year-old Cuban whose only American experience is 17 games between Class A and Triple-A last season.
By blackace Go To PostBrandon Phillips traded to the Braves..Like... I don't get this move for the Braves. The Reds have been trying to deal Phillips for awhile so they can promote Jose Peraza for Dilson Herrera (*sniff*). The Braves are rebuilding for the new stadium.... and get a 35-year old Phillips? I'm trying to breakdown the prospects to see how good they are.

I am willing to see how it will work in the minors and the WBC first before I shit on it.. I don't think I like it tho..
I do understand why the MLB is looking in this direction tho.

By Perfect Blue Go To PostYo so how about that stupid proposed change to have extra innings start with a runner on second?
It's awful.
10th inning starts with runner on 2nd.
11th inning the fielders go bare handed
12th inning starts the home run derby.

It's buying time for Albies to get ready at AAA Gwinnett. Jace Peterson, the penciled-in 2B, is the definition of nobody. BP is old, and his bat can produce baseball-card numbers but not real numbers (his .730ish OPS last year is about the best you can expect), and he doesn't really field well but he's better than Peterson and the 2 "prospects" are nobodies. And the Reds are paying all but 1 million of BP's salary.
It's a whatever move. It doesn't move the needle either way. Braves basically get a meh player for free.
By blackace Go To PostIt's a new stadium hype move… nothing more
Who in the world is "hype" about Brandon Phillips?
By Enron Go To PostWho in the world is "hype" about Brandon Phillips? He was a Georgia highschool standout and his family still has big ties in the area... like I said it's a Wade coming home type move
For those of you in either of the mlbGAF fantasy leagues that I still run, I just set the draft dates and times. Tell the others on gaf, twitter, facebook, whatever if you know anyone else.
NEOGAF Baseball - Saturday, March 25 @ 8:30 pm EDT. Keeper deadline is March 22. same keeper rules as last year, pick your top 3 guys. Whatever round they slot in as determined by yahoo rank, the system will automatically draft them in that round for you. If you have more than 1 keeper slotted for a particular round, the lower rated player simply gets auto-picked in the next round for you. (For example - my top 3 keepers are all first round picks - so my first selection in the draft will be round 4).
mlbGAF Fantasy Rejects - Sunday, March 26 @ 8:30 pm EDT

Major League Baseball and the players' association announced their agreement on pitchless intentional walks, and the change took effect with exhibition games starting Thursday.
If a manager signals the plate umpire for an intentional walk, the umpire will tell the batter to take first base.
Two other rule changes were announced Thursday. An addition to rule 5.07 formalizes an umpire interpretation and prohibits a pitcher from resetting his pivot foot or taking a second step toward home plate during his delivery. If the pitcher violates the rule with a runner on base, a balk should be called. If there are no runners, a violation should be considered an illegal pitch under rule 6.02(b).
A change to rule 5.03 requires base coaches to remain behind the line of the coach's box closest to the plate, and the front line parallel to the foul line prior to each pitch. A coach may leave the box to signal a player after a ball is put in play.
Some new rules..
I can't wait for the first misinterpretation of a manager calling for an intentional walk to an umpire.

Investigation finds Jose Fernandez was operating boat in fatal crash
Investigation finds Jose Fernandez was operating boat in fatal crash
MIAMI – The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission concluded in its nearly six-month investigation that former Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez was the operator of the speeding boat that crashed and killed Fernandez and two others in the early morning of Sept. 25, 2016.Fuck...
According to public records obtained by ESPN on Thursday, the FWC's final report confirmed alcohol and drugs were involved. It also concluded that Fernandez violated multiple boating laws, including Boating Under the Influence Manslaughter, Vessel Homicide and Reckless or Careless Operation of a Vessel.
Fernandez's blood alcohol level was .147 and there was "noted presence of cocaine," according to the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner's toxicology report.
Desperately need a replacement owner for one of the gaf leagues.
