he's a top 5 PG, he should have a better play for a basket..
I kinda agree with Shun Russ has to play super human to beat meh teams...
my only knock is if he cared about D at all he might not had gotten lit for 31

damn, Westbrook has 25 attemps in the finals 2 minutes of shots to take the lead or tie on the season. 25 was the highest for any player last season.
Oh after tonight he will have 29

Russ's D sucked even when he had Durant next to him. It wasn't going to get better.

Stan is the best
That's how you throw people under a bus, you throw everyone including your self.
By reilo Go To PostRuss has the highest DPBM of any starting PG by a mile…Playing the vast majority of your minutes without Kanter will do that
Just because dbpm isn't as bad as other all-in-one defensive statistics doesn't mean it's a good one.
Jokic had 27-15-9 tonight.
While no one was watching, he's gotten his WS/48 back over .200 again.
Nuggets really need to trade Jusuf Nurkic so Jokic can get 32-36 minutes a night and so Nurkic can develop elsewhere.

All I want for Christmas is for Harris to stay healthy. He makes Mudiay look like an actual player.
Would prefer to trade Faried instead of Nurkic.

i'm super curious to see if one of anderson or nene is forced by probability to average 10 rebounds each
nene probably doesn't survive more than two weeks as a starter without complaining about pain in his legs/feet though
who's the third backup? lol...harrell would probably be fine for a bit
Westbrook's USG% is three points higher than 2006 Kobe as of now.
He's going to shatter the all-time single season record.
He's going to shatter the all-time single season record.
By Moris Go To PostBoth are listed as probable.
Per Baxter Holmes:
At shootaround Tuesday morning in Charlotte, prior to facing the Hornets, Lakers coach Luke Walton said that reserve center Tarik Black (sprained right ankle) is questionable, reserve guard José Calderón (right hamstring strain) is out. Walton said everyone else is available and that he expects there to be no minutes restriction on starting point guard D'Angelo Russell, who has been playing with one since returning from a 12-game absence because of a sore knee.
Hopefully Tarik gets some run but it looks like D'Judas will for sure.
By Forever Go To PostMeh Lopez with scheduled rest tonight. They're treating him like Old Duncan. The should schedule rest for him more often so they can get a better draft pick... Oh wait

I think teams should be barred from resting stars on big games and especially nationally televised games. It hurts the league and diminishes the product.
But this stuff happening is also an argument for shortening games played or extending the length of the season, the latter which the NBA is seemingly doing.

The league can't market itself on the basis of its stars and then have them sit out all the damn time. Not when you expect people to pay good money every night to fill the arenas.

And yet, They're going to. And I don't really care. Because the ultimate goal is to win a chip, not make every fan happy. And that argument trumps all the others.
Then gate receipts will decline and they'll start facing the same issue the NFL is. Why pony up big fucking money to see the best play if they're going to be announced as resting just mere minutes before tip-off? You can watch them in 4K HD at home on your 70" TV and spend the same amount on a 6-pack of quality as on 16oz of shitty Miller Lite and save yourself the headache and money.

I don't disagree.
the NBA IS an entertainment product, but it's real people going through a real grind of a season. We all know the season scheduling is broken. It's not good for anyone to do the grind that NBA players do. Hell these are supreme athletes and it hurts THEIR body.
The fault isn't the teams or the players or the NBA's. It's everyones. Everyone wants as much money as possible and so they're ALL to blame for not just stepping back and going "Ok, really, we need to cut it back to 68 game".
The players won't do it because it WILL cut into media revenue (the primary source of salary).
The owners won't because it will decrease the value of their franchise (not as much gross income).
And the League is beholden to both of those parties, and the cut it gets to fund it's own programs.
So yeah. It's shitty. It slightly lowers the appeal of shelling out $$$ for a ticket. But the player / franchise is there to win chips.
Ticket prices should be slashed or something. In what other avenue of entertainment do you go to a concert and they're like Jay Z ain't here please stay and enjoy some lesser act tho. I didn't pay all this money to see someone else. Counter argument would be it's a team but at those prices they came to see Lebron dunk. All these stadiums gonna start looking empty like Atlanta always does.

At festivals they regularly don't return gate takings if one of the lead acts cancels. "You bought a ticket for the festival, not jay z".
It does feel like something that needs to be addressed. And the fans compensated. How you do that though ....
It's not a festival though. It's a one time concert. A festival involves several acts you want to see. If you're a big Kyrie fan good for you. Don't be obtuse about it. People aren't going to risk spending time and money to be told the person they came to see isn't playing.

I don't even think that's a legit argument, basketball isn't like other sports where players don't have such a huge impact. You put Tom Brady on the Eagles and nothing changes, we're still a trash team. You put LeBron James on the Nets and that team is probably making the Finals, ECF at worst.
Everyone knows this too. Players, fans and owners.
Everyone knows this too. Players, fans and owners.
Not to mention what fan would be satiated by "no LBJ you bought tickets for Cavs." K. Great product. Thanks for taking my money. People are just going to stop showing up.
The clashing of priorities is just going to make for an inferior product. It's either entertainment first, or sports first, you start mixing it up too much it just becomes shit all around.
By Tea Go To PostAre you being willfully stupid right now?Are you?
The argument by the team / festivals is actually proven and solid. People HAVE tried to sue festivals before and got told to go away.
Am i saying the argument is necessarily JUST or FAIR? No. It's not. Not in the slightest.
I'd be SUPER pissed if it happened to me. To the point that it would prejudice my purchasing of tickets again.
But how do you compensate the fans. And remember, once you set this precedent, it will be held against you. I could see an instance where Fox Sports (or what ever local providers the teams have a deal with) could pounce upon it.
I don't mind rest, but there needs to be more foresight and communication with the fans about them so they can be informed. Rest days shouldn't be happening so often that you shouldn't be able to make them known with a few days notice.
