lol @ vet contract shit
there was a guy in wiz gm board who argued the well was gonna dry up in a couple of years--I agreed most non tanking teams would be in the tax, but that it wasn't going to lead to unlucky free agents accepting less money--once the bar has been set they aren't settling for less and this guy disagreed. I said it's more likely something would be done in terms of the economy than for future salaries to diminish, and now this shit comes out lol
one thing I'm confused on though--the language is a bit weird. Teams are already able to go over the cap to keep players that they have bird rights too--so what exactly is this doing?

By diehard Go To PostThe same. But triple doubles continue to be overrated. In the three games prior, Harden had 9,9 and 8 rebounds. Against the Kings, our starting C had 2. Harden also played 39 minutes against Dallas and spent the last 6 of those trying to get 2 rebounds, lol. Wish he spent less time chasing Russ by boxing out his own team mates, and focussed more on minimising his turnovers.
More importantly, our backcourt trio generated 29 assists last night, team shot 50% from three and kept the opposition to under 100. Didn't think Beverley was that important to us, but the team has played pretty well since his return.
ok so basically this thing allows bird rights to be used on an early extension
I don't know that this necessarily helps teams to keep their own guys. It's helpful for stuff like the Harden extension that happened recently, but I'm not sure a team like the Kings isn't pressured more by the existence of this sort of thing. Cousins can't put the question off until the summer of his free agency anymore for example, the extension is available now, and if he declines to accept it then it's hard to legitimize not trading him asap.

By Dark PhaZe Go To Postlol @ vet contract shit6 years at up to 35% of the salary cap. It's a lot of long term money that is not otherwise available. It is also limited to only one per team.

Oh, looks like some more information that came out and now teams can have two designated vets instead of just the one.

heard something about an all-nba requirement though--I'm starting to get down on that type of shit as a requirement
So, yeah, a team can have two players taking up 70% of the cap for six years if the signing periods line up right.

most 2nd option players on small market clubs hardly even deserve max, let alone this shit
brad beal with a 6 year max fucking please no
this will be useful when we get cousins however

By Dark PhaZe Go To Postmost 2nd option players on small market clubs hardly even deserve max, let alone this shitI think for it to apply when you get Cousins is for it to be a sign-and-trade. Unless they ruled that out in the CBA, then you may have to wait a year after he signs it or something before trading for him.

Hold on, the Knicks vs GS?
The horror if the Knicks manage to win this game. The horror. Pls win this game pilon.

Look away Kibner
Pelicans PG Tim Frazier says he's expected to miss 7-10 days with a bone bruise on his right wrist from a fall in Tuesday's fourth quarter. Frazier was wearing a brace around his wrist after Thursday's shootaround.
By p s y Go To PostLook away KibnerI don't expect to have nice things in my NBA life so this doesn't faze me.

2016 has just been too bad of a year to have sports stress added to it
Jazz up to 3rd in defense even though our second best defender has been hurt for the entire season so far.
Not bad.
(The difference between 3rd and 10th in defense is minuscule right now though)
