By WWCHGT Go To PostDMo stuffYeah, I had read about this yesterday. Bev seems to be on good terms with him, but I don't know about anybody else. Missed training camp, missed a quarter of the season, gets Harden's Drew League mate Bobby Brown cut from the team. Expected to get paid, and I assume he expects to get minutes (to the detriment of the development of Capela, Harrell and Dekker). Hope he doesn't mess up this team's chemistry.
Capela/Nene/Harrell/Onuaku
Anderson/Dekker/Wiltjer/Motiejunas
Ariza/Brewer/McDaniels
Beverley/Gordon
Harden/Ennis
Roster composition is all out of whack.
By rodeoclown Go To PostOnly about 40 more pressers to go this year where Thibs blames everybody else.Thibs seem like kind of a dick. Or maybe he just lacks self awareness. It's like he didn't realize he's coaching kids basically.
But he won't change anything. His rotations, his schemes, nothing will change. Well, he probably makes some trades, but then we're just bringing in new players to this black hole of suck.
By domino Go To PostThibs seem like kind of a dick. Or maybe he just lacks self awareness. It's like he didn't realize he's coaching kids basically.I think he expected it to be easy. Just plug the players into his systems and they'd win like they did at the end of last year, only better.
I get some of the frustration since his three "core" players don't play a lick of defense, but rather than admit that he hasn't been coaching them right, that his systems don't fit this roster and he hasn't been able to adjust and play a style that suits them, Thibs just casts the blame on the players.
It's every single loss. I'm frustrated just as a fan, so I can't imagine what it feels like to be one of those kids. Sam Mitchell had some real flaws, but I'll be god damned if he wasn't out there taking bullets for his players every presser.
For the record, they played better defense under Smitch (110) than defensive genius Thibs (111.8).

The combined age of 3 of the T-Wolves starters is 63 so they are supposed to have growing pains... blasting them in the media is bush league
By blackace Go To PostThe combined age of 3 of the T-Wolves starters is 63 so they are supposed to have growing pains⦠blasting them in the media is bush leagueIt's after every loss now. It's crazy. After last night, Thibs said, "Everything is on the table." (Except changing to a pick and roll based offense, probably.) He's literally threatening their jobs. Like LaVine wouldn't want to go play for somebody else that wouldn't hang him out to dry to the media.
I didn't think I'd miss Smitch, but players liked him and he actually changed his schemes when they weren't working. I remember hearing that Wiggins was upset they let Mitchell go like they did and I kinda get it. Sam wasn't screaming at him for every mistake.
That's a neat chart. Lakeshow need to get healthy ASAP and take advantage

There's like 1 bit about the Twolves that I can't get out of my head. In some interview (I'm sure you've seen it rodeo but maybe not. I linked it below) last year Mitchell was talking about getting mad about LaVine throwing a bounce entry pass with some english in a situation that you'd obviously throw the entry pass up high. And at first he was mad but then Zach said he just didn't know or really think about it. And Mitchell said he had to step back when something went wrong and consider if the young guns just didn't make the right decision OR if they didn't know what the right play was because they'd never been taught it. And how making the right play is a matter of creating the right habits and tendencies. And unlearning in the bad ones

And that's a lot of rambling to say I just don't see Thibs being that kind of coach. He isn't a good fit. Now I'm not familiar with the whole tenure but I think it may have been better to let Mitchell coach em up another year. But I guess the front office thought the players were further along than they actually are?

Monty Williams only threw his players under a bus once with NOLA and I think he publicly apologized for it the next day. I miss him, even though he was just an average coach, I liked him a lot.
By domino Go To PostThat's a neat chart. Lakeshow need to get healthy ASAP and take advantageMonty went through something very similar and changed his off-season practices to start with the very basics and fundamentals so that he doesn't have any further incorrect assumptions about the skills his players know.

Ricky Rubio on reeling Wolves: 'It's just awful'http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/18248106/ricky-rubio-says-minnesota-timberwolves-playing-no-heart
Point guard Ricky Rubio and coach Tom Thibodeau agree in their assessment that the reeling Minnesota Timberwolves "lack heart" after yet another loss Friday night.
The Detroit Pistons had their way with Minnesota's struggling defense, hitting 14 of 29 3-pointers in a 117-90 victory as the Wolves lost for the seventh time in the last eight games. Fans booed early in the fourth quarter as the Pistons finished off a 31-10 run that sent most toward the exits.
The Timberwolves, mired in a 12-year playoff drought, haven't won at home since Nov. 17.
"We can accept making mistakes and [when we] don't make shots," Rubio said after the game. "Playing with no heart, with no desire, it's just awful. Right now, it's just bad.
"And it seems like we didn't care."
A "very concerned" Thibodeau said "everything is on the table" as he looks to fix things, including lineup changes for the 6-17 Wolves, who next face the Golden State Warriors on Sunday.
"I'm going to keep coming. I don't go away," Thibodeau vowed. "I'm going to look at everything, re-examine. Something's being missed. It's got to change.
"Something is not right. We have to find the answer to that."
Wiggins didn't even have heart as a highschooler getting trolled by journalists--you expect him to care now?
By livefromkyoto Go To PostSorry man, it doesn't get any easier from here.Holy fucking shit.
The Wolves don't even have another winnable game until the 19th vs Phoenix. They're probably going into Christmas 7-22.
But what will Thibs do? At best he probably starts Bjelica for Dieng. He's way too damn stubborn to think he won't win games his way. I've seen nothing to indicate that he'll make serious changes to his schemes. He gets housed by opposing coaches during games because of his unwillingness to make adjustments.
Thibs' in-game management is actually shocking. Awful rotations, a complete inability to calm his team down (probably all the screaming and sour face when they mess up), a downright refusal to call plays that go against what he wants from his motion sets. He's a miserable game manager. His idea of stemming the tide when the momentum starts to turn is a Wiggins isolation (see also: long jump shot).

I've never watched a Wolves games where I didn't hearing Thibs. It's actually impressive that he's able to drown out all the other sounds.
I can only imagine how quickly the players got tired of his drill sergeant yelling.

When you're 10 games under .500 and he's throwing you under the bus to the press, I'm guessing it's not as fun.

I don't think Thibs has really done anything to deserve the ability to do this, either. Chicago is ancient history. His Minnesota track record is Kris Dunn, playing the wrong scheme and a record that's one game better than Dallas, who doesn't even want to win games this year.
we got cleveland on a b2b?
these last 30 days have been a joke. but at least, if we don't get any injuries during this obvious hazing from the league, then we should be pretty solid going into the playoffs
