Cleff the Japanese dub for FFXV is good not just because the actors are better but there's clear direction on it. I feel the localization is poor. In the English subs, the characters are saying totally different things than what they're saying in Japanese, and it's all unnatural language for young dudes to use. Where the Japanese lines are astonishingly believable. They talk and react exactly how you would expect those characters to behave in that world in that situation. There is legit chemistry and no silly puns.
That said, assuming you can't understand the J-dub you still have to read the subs, but at least you're getting half the superior option.

It's not similar to Carnivale thematically but has a sense of place that's wholly it's own like the dust bowl was for Carnivale. Which is rather impressive when you consider the show flits from Wild West to futuristic control centre.
