(CNN) – Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 went down over the southern Indian Ocean, Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak said Monday, citing a new analysis of satellite data by a British satellite company and accident investigators, and apparently ending hopes that anyone survived.more at link.
A relative of a missing passenger briefed by the airline in Beijing said, "They have told us all lives are lost."
Razak based his announcement on what he described as unprecedented analysis of satellite data sent by the plane by British satellite provider Inmarsat and the British Air Accidents Investigation Branch. He didn't describe the nature of the analysis.
But he said it made it clear that the plane's last position was in the middle of the remote southern Indian Ocean, "far from any possible landing sites."

The families involved must've gone through hell the past week or so.
This kind of event needs closure and Im glad this is over for loved ones.
RIP to all lost.
The worst part is all the terrible media coverage the past two weeks, when this was always the most likely outcome.

Someone enlighten me. Why in these press conferences are they speaking english? I know USA, USA, USA! But there where only 3 americans on board. The majority were chinese and malays. How can chinese, malays and other countries who had people on board understand what is being said? Is this press conference for the united states consumption. I mean i know english is used for business all around the world but I can only imagine if it were reversed and we had to listen to a chinese spoken press conference about an american airlines plane that crashed in the carribean would be irritating.

Australia is involved, the US is fascinated by it, and Singapore is right there too.
