Stop griping, and start watching those videos, because you have only one more hour to prep yourselves before the ladies' short program at the Internationaux de France begins.
Skate order for those interested (most interesting skaters bolded; all times CET):
18:22 : Lea Serna (France)
18:29 : Nicole Schott (Germany)
18:35 : Starr Andrews (USA)
18:42 : Alena Kostornaia (Russia)
18:48 : Mae Berenice Meite (France)
19:02 : Yuna Shiraiwa (Japan)
19:09 : Maria Sotskova (Russia)
19:15 : Mariah Bell (USA)
19:22 : Wakaba Higuchi (Japan)
19:28 : Kaori Sakamoto (Japan)
19:35 : Alina Zagitova (Russia)
All the chatter right now is about the showdown between Kostornaia (whom I talked about above) and Zagitova, the reigning Olympic and world champion. Rumor has it that Zagitova may have a triple axel or quad that no one knows about (much as Kostornaia did a few weeks ago, when she won Finlandia), but I haven't seen the practice skates to confirm.
The ISU is actually streaming it on Youtube in many areas around the world, including the UK: https://www.youtube.com/user/SkatingISU.

By Perfect Blue Go To PostDamn there’s no Canadian? The Grand Prix events, like today's Internationaux de France, feature only a small subset of skaters; watch the whole series, and you'll be able to see all the big names, but one event will have only a smattering.
Skate Canada was last week, and the Canadian ladies finished 10th, 11th, and 12th in a field of 12.
At least you still have Keegan Messing, Gilles & Poirier, and Moore-Towers & Marinaro for other disciplines, but it's definitely a time of rebuilding for Canadian skating after the previous generation of Patrick Chan, Kaetlyn Osmond, Virtue & Moir, and Duhamel & Radford all retired.
Kaiya Ruiter on the junior circuit is promising and has the most infectious smile:
Got up early this morning to watch the final. Then I’m going into uni to grade my students exams. So I’m already guaranteed disappointment today.
By Hitch Go To PostI'm missing it so I can get up in time for the Liverpool game :(?? Aren't you in the UK?
By Laboured Go To PostVery impressed by SA so far.Garces doing them a lot of favours
Shit. But I just came from 3-2 down at 86 minutes to score a 94th minute winner on FUT Champions so it's not all bad.
By FortuneFaded Go To PostThey are engraving the name before the match is even over. Fucking hell.Lmao that's incredible
By Kibner Go To PostLmao that's incredibleThere was 2 minutes left and England would have needed multiple tries.
A sumo wrestler might be forced to retire because he breached corona protocols. Went out for dinner with friends(some say fans) instead of going straight home.

Abi. Only been in the top divisions a few years. Really long arms.
Was responsible for getting all rikishi banned from instagram late last year when he posted an image of a younger wrestler tied up.
You might be interested to know how the current basho is going. Do you remember a Mongolian Ozeki called Terunofuji? He dropped all the way down to the second lowest rank with knee injuries, diabites, and kidney stones. Finally made his way back up to the top divisions and is currently tied for the lead at 11-1. Is gonna fight the co-leader, the new Japanese Ozeki Asanoyama tomorrow. Hakuho was tied for the lead but lost for the second consecutive day against Mitakeumi today.
If you are ever looking to catch up then I recommend this guy's videos. Usually around 15 minutes long and his text commentaries are pretty fun. Plus they are now usually from the NHK English feed.
Thanks! Hakuho has been so dominant for so long. Probably the 🐐of all sumo.
I remember the name Terunofuji. That's an amazing story!
Not surprised the national sumo org banned all wrestlers from using Instagram after one of them showed something to make them look bad.
Man, Asanoyama just doesn't ring a bell for me. I really do need to start watching again. Thanks for the video link!

Asanoyama has been around a few years, i think it was the May basho that he won last year.
If you haven't been following recently then in January the lowest ranked wrestler won the tournament, a guy named Tokushoryu. Won it with a 14-1 record. Although, both yokozunas were out.
Pretty good time to get back into sumo. Hakuho still dominates, but there are plenty of guys who are now good enough to beat him and just need to improve their consistency. There are also four former ozeki in the regular ranks, so you get good fights all over the place. There is also this tiny little guy called Enhou who is from Hakuho's stable who has some of the most exciting fights around. Dude is 5ft6 and weights under 100 kg. Has beaten ozekis and dudes around 200kg.
Hakuho rather predictably calling in injured after back to back loses.
Gonna be an interesting final two day after yesterday's big match up.
Great final day in sumo live now. https://www.twitch.tv/mbovosumo
Terunofuji vs Mitakeumi. If Teruno wins then he is champ. If Mita wins then we will have a three way playoff with the winner of Asanoyama vs Shoudai.
If Terunofuji wins, then it will be the second time this year that the lowest ranked wrestler wins. Will be his second championship(yusho).
If Asanoyama wins, then he begins his run to be Yokozuna. Will be his second yusho.
If Shoudai wins, he might be promoted to Ozeki. Otherwise will have to wait till September to try and get enough wins. Will be his first yusho.
If Mitakeumi wins, then it will be his third yusho. Should be promoted to Ozeki if he gets enough wins in September.

Is there an app or something I can sub to for sports like cricket and rugby?
I know there’s FuboTV which has a lot of sports but when I used to sub 2 years ago it was $40, now it’s $65 because of Disney
Being in America it feels limited in your options unless you’re watching the major 4 sports leagues

if you have a vpn, try rugbypass.com. It streams pretty much all rugby from what I remember. Not sure its cost.
By DiPro Go To PostNovak crowning his GOAT clown year.I said it in the football thread but people claiming it's 100% not his fault or something are a bit nuts
When has anyone seen a tennis player give a ball back to the umpires by whacking it that way. Novak was a little mad he just got broken and hit the ball in frustration. He didn't mean to hit her but definitely played a dangerous game hitting the ball like that and the right decision was made imo
By Shanks D Zoro Go To PostYeah, but she didn't need to go to hospital or anything. The rule is nothing to do with whether the person you hit goes to hospital or not
Unfair.
Fact is, novak controls his anger and he'd still be in it
The fact that he's whacked balls around in frustration for so long he's been lucky it took this long to happen.
"it's going 15mp/h"
"She barely got hurt"
"If she's on the court she should keep eyes on the ball"
"It ruins the tournament"
These are all Irrelevant excuses I've been hearing. It would have been one of the worst decisions in tennis and a controversial decision to not disqualify him, pundits and tennis officials agree, as well neutrals that watch tennis
When it was suggested to him in the past he laughed at the idea of him hitting someone and being disqualified
The rule is applied correct and deserved to be DQ.
But
Bedene hit a camera man with a ball literally last week and got a warning.
And all line judges are cunts anyway just replace them with Hawkeye live

Aki Basho starts today with no Yokozuna, so should be a wide open tournament.
