Finished the first run of Sherlock Holmes Adventures up until The Final Problem
The character is much less of a socially broken knobend than he's presented as these days. Bit weird how Doyle tries to make it sound like Moriarty was a constant presence overseeing the whole thing when there's not a single shred of an indication of it, was clearly done in retrospect.

130 pages or so into the Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle
Wasn't really feeling it at the start, then I was liking it a lot, before it took a turn into something that I thought I'd love, and then immediately pivoted into some bullshit that seems like it'll just olbliterate the sense of mystery by overexplanation and needlessly raised stakes.

The old up tight Sherlock comes from the old bbc show. The only person to really play him right recently is Henry Cavill lol

I did not enjoy this book but lol
I’ve heard they’re wish fulfillment bullshit
Used my Audible trial to download Children of Time
Have about twelve audiobooks on there, only paid for maybe one of them

Getting back into reading instead of trying to play Nintendo Switch on my commute. Going through a few books I bought but never read, starting with The Rage of Dragons by Evan Winter
By s y Go To PostMight start reading a Brandon Sanderson book out of respect for his work ethic lolWas it worth it
Sanderson's books range from fine to great.
Stormlight Archive is his best series by far.
Mistborn Trilogy (era 1) is great.
Warbreaker good.
Skyward good.
Haven't read the second Mistborn Trilogy yet but the dude has so many books lol. Kind of confusing.
They all share a Universe as far as I know though.

Busy with this one at the moment, just in the beginning but the pages are already flying by because of how well written and paced it is imo

Also, Children of Time is getting a 4th book - Children of Strife. Likely out this year. Adrian is a writing machine. Favorite author right now.
We are going on adventure is still the best space horror bender I've been on in ages.

Need a book from just the Corvids POV.
Finally got to reading Rendez-Vous with Rama because Villeneuve was interested in adapting it.
Very hyped to see this on a big screen with Villeneuve's attention to detail and visual style. Maybe after Messiah.

Going to have to hunt down the remaining 3.
The way Mona Lisa Overdrive ties in everything from the first two books of the Sprawl trilogy is really dope.
Don’t have to read them. Clarke didn’t have any intention of turning it into a series but then Gentry Lee convinced him and made it a more modern narrative story.

Give in and read Fourth Wing at the constant prodding from the grilfriend.
Pretty good, lots of ideas from better series but it's a fast and enjoyable read imo.
A better writer could make this the new Harry Potter but she already blew about 4 books worth of story in the first one.

Fourth Wing sold over 2 million copies. It's Romance novel so they fantasy arcs were just there to get you to the next romance scene.
By blackace Go To PostFourth Wing sold over 2 million copies. It's Romance novel so they fantasy arcs were just there to get you to the next romance scene.Yeah basically, but there is something there atleast besides the generic vampire v werewolf schlop she reads.
I'll probably read the next one Iron Flame and see if she can keep it up.
Going to wash it down with Pachinko first because I saw there's a series out and I want to read the book first.
By Lupercal Go To PostYeah basically, but there is something there atleast besides the generic vampire v werewolf schlop she reads.I guess the point is I doubt it could be HP big because it doesn't have the range but it's doing very well. Didn't Amazon pick it up?

Amazon is doing a show and there's also a movie planners iirc

She put together an interesting world/universe
Finished the second one and it's not as good as Fourth Wing.
Lot's of disjumbled story threads that depend on "twists" but I can see the ending coming a mile away now.
Now time to finally dive into Stormlight Archive book 4 because I ordered the newest one.

By Lupercal Go To PostFinished the second one and it's not as good as Fourth Wing.ah that's too bad. I feel like Rebecca Yarros is heavy into discovery writing (Like GRRM) which tends to lead to too unrelated story threads.

On a mini-streak this week as I am traveling and have a lot of free time to read.
Finally finished Kafka on the Shore. Really good but not my favorite Murakami.
Started a Call for the Dead, my first Smiley book. Really enjoying it.
Neuromancer is next as soon as I finish Le Carre.

By blackace Go To Postthe old 80s historical mystery book?Yeah. Sounds interesting but if it requires a lot of knowledge of religious and geographical history I'll bounce right off of it.
