By blackace Go To PostBaystars 4 life… But as long as it isn't the Giants I am happy
Yo fuck Yomiuri for real.
Kansai keeps it real, Hanshin 4lyfe, Col. Sanders for kami status.
Never root for Kyojin. 2009 and 2012 so hard losing to them... 2012 especially cuz that is when the San Francisco Giants win too...
I don't want to lose Ohtani to the MLB yet tho, I am still amazed that the Fighters managed to convince him to stay all these years after taking a chance at drafting him.
The Tigers are crazy, I'm still puzzled why they decided to draft Ohyama first this year.

By Apollo Go To PostWho is going to get Otani?
Depends on the terms of his contract whether or not his contract can or will get posted for bidding to MLB teams. His value hasn't ever been any higher and I hope the Fighters can hold him a couple more years since he's only 22 years old and has probably the highest ceiling for a left hand starting pitcher after getting drafted 4 years ago.
He was originally going to skip NPB and go straight to MLB, but was somehow convinced to get drafted to stay in Hokkaido to develop his skill set and grow into his body before going straight to MLB. 4 years later, at 22 his body and game is looking better. A lot of teams are pretty interested in him and the last Fighters legend that went to the MLB is Yu Darvish, who won us a title in 2006 and plays for the Rangers.
Dude has really big upside and a lot of MLB teams are really high on him and he himself has a really intense desire to play in the MLB, more than any other player before. He's only 3 professional seasons in and just came of a pretty legendary season in NPB this past year, dude had 1.86 ERA and his batting was no slouch either. I'm stanning him pretty hard but you have to wonder how much better he can get and how he can improve in America. He's a two-way player who excels at both pitching and DH on off days.
The biggest barrier is the $20 million USD compensation that needs to be payed to the Fighters if he gets bidded out, which is not nearly enough money to how much value he is the the franchise at the moment.
I wouldn't be surprised if he is on his way out now, but I'd think 2017-2018 might be when he finally goes.
I remember how much speculation there was when Yu Darvish was going to be posted to the MLB and that dude was a legend to the franchise for years. Literally the minute after Darvish was up, Tanaka (Yankees) got next.
He will never DH in America. However, if he can hit MLB pitching any big money NL team will throw buckets of cash at him (LA) of course the Yanks will be in play... I wonder if the Red Sox will be since Daisuke burnt them so badly.. I would love the M's to bid, but I kinda doubt they will
What MLB teams would be interested?
Pretty much all of them. If the Diamondbacks can shell out $34.4 million a year to sign Zack Greinke, any team can afford Otani. It's just a question of whether smaller market teams are willing to commit that much money to one player. Spending, say, one-third of your payroll on one player is generally a bad idea.
That said, Otani isn't old. He's a 22-year-old ace-caliber pitcher – Otani had a strong season at the plate, but the consensus is he is a pitcher only long-term – and that type of player is a building block for any team. He fits into every organization's short- and long-term plans. Every team will want him and figures to make an offer.
The biggest suitors are, of course, the big market teams. The Yankees, Dodgers, Cubs, and Red Sox immediately jump to mind. Don't rule out the Giants or Nationals. Or the Tigers. Or the Cardinals. Or the Blue Jays, Orioles, Mariners, and Astros. Every team is going to want Otani. All the usual suspects will get involved plus more.

Every team is in play, he makes the equivalent of 1.8 million USD playing in NPB. He would easily make 15-20 times that amount when he's posted.
It's a sad day tho.
Kuroda retired today and Hiroshima retired his #15 too.

He needed to retire... nothing is worst than an aging star refusing to retire. He was still strong and that's the way to go
By Apollo Go To PostI thought Kuroda retired when he left the Yankees.A lot come back and give a fews back to the NPB... Most times with their former team unless you are a cock like Jojima
