By shun Go To Postremember how we had this Carlisle vs Rivers debate last season? Like 3SP or someone brought it up that Doc was good and Carlisle is the same tier as him or something. Yeah Carlisle can actually get garbage dudes and washed up dudes to ball and win games. I can't really say the same with Rivers.Dunno if it was 3sp ... but yeah ... doc ain't done shit in a whole. And his tenure as GM is ... questionable at best.
By DY_nasty Go To Postyou just don't say that kinda shit out loudI told you... but you were if that's where he needs to find his motivation and blah...
Look KD is the type of guy to make a video and post it with it captions of him bricking 3s
I like that he's getting all this in before anybody in the media's said any of this stuff yet. It's good that he's proactive.

Beta getting all sorts of feels now.
"It's only a surprise if you didn't watch the workouts," Thompson said following Thursday's practice before heading to Toronto. "If you ask ownership and coach (Byron) Scott and CG (Former GM Chris Grant) and even Griff (General Manager David Griffin), if you watched the workouts, there's some other guys in that workout that probably shouldn't have went in the pick they went, but, we won't get into that. It was not a surprise."

Somewhere, Derrick Williams clenches his fist and looks up into the Miami sky. And in a voice, too low to hear yet quaking with a quiet fury, he swears: "There will be a reckoning. Oh yes. And there will be blood."
The sound of his clanked layup echoes into that night sky, like the roll of thunder.

Do yourself a favour and never look up Colangelo's draft record in Toronto.
I hope the league has evolved enough one day to force owners to fire GM's for basketball reasons and for "the good of our league".

Greg Oden has returned to Ohio State as a student-coach.Blazers Legend.
Oden played in China last season after dealing with a number of injuries in the NBA. Oden underwent multiple microfracture knee surgeries and other issues. Oden last played in the NBA during the 13-14 season with the Miami Heat.
"I wanted to stay around basketball and coach gave me a lifeline to be here," Oden told the Indianapolis Star on Thursday. "To give me something to do with my afternoons.
"I'm still trying to figure out my life. Since I've been in fourth grade, all I've known was basketball. I'm just trying to better myself and work on my degree and set something up for the future of my family."
Oden is now 28 and acknowledges his playing career is over.
"I wish," Oden told the Star. "It's over."
Oden was the first overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft, leaving Ohio State after his freshman season. Oden is now a sophomore in college and majoring in the sports industry.
"I wouldn't say I regret anything," Oden said. "I would say I just wish I did things better."
Actually, you know what? Maybe I'm being unfair. Colangelo's really dumb moves were his free agent signings, not his drafting: throwing all the money they had at human pylon Jason Kapono, busted pizza-fiend Hedo, and his desperation hail mary of paying a billion dollars in a poison pill contract to Landry Fields to cockblock Steve Nash from signing with a Knicks team he was never going to in the first place.
He also has a history of wildly misjudging vets in trades: moving Jason Kidd for Stephon Marbury*, cleaning out the fridge and trading Roy Hibbert** for basketball mirage Jermaine O'Neal who advanced stats showed wasn't as good as people thought even before the injuries. He then sunk deeper into a hole by trading JO + a lotto pick for 27 games of Shawn Marion. He then somehow decided trading for Rudy Gay was the last-ditch move that was going to save his career.
His draft record is spotty because it starts with the worst draft pick of all time, the franchise-devouring Andrea Bargnani. But in that same draft he got PJ Tucker in the 2nd round, who was a reasonable return.
After that he got DeRozan with the 9th pick
Journeyman Ed Davis at 13,
Valanciunas at 5
Future journeyman Terrence Ross at 8,
And yes-he's-still-in-the-league Quincy Acy at 37.
So most of his picks at least turn into players, he just never managed to build them into a solid, sustainable core. If he didn't inherit Chris Bosh he never would have sniffed the playoffs here.
He does have an eye for fringe talent, he brought lots of players from overseas leagues and US minor leagues onto the team who lasted for a couple of years in the NBA, but they were almost never starters, certainly not stars (all respect to Anthony Parker). But if you want to land the next Jamario Moon or "win" a Fred Jones trade, he's your man.
* Though this one was kind of defensible at the time; nobody knew just how much Marbury's 3-tub-a-day vaseline habit was going to affect his mental faculties, and he was the 1A PG in the league after Kidd, and therefore the most reasonable trade target. They probably saw in him an Iverson who would pass. They were super wrong.
** Granted, it was Indy who asked him to draft Hibbert. This does not make the move any less dumb. It probably makes it even more dumb, because they were that much further ahead of him.

You can't say anything about what the Spurs will do in the post season until we see it happen. We just know they are a good team, but last years team went out a little too easy for my tastes

By DY_nasty Go To PostTrust me when I say my opinion is also in the minority even among other online Pelican fans. There is a ton of vitriol directed towards CP3 the person at some of the homer boards and it makes me angry to read. So, I don't really go to the homer boards anymore and just stick to general NBA discussion boards (like this one), instead.

Sure, but given how high Marbury's profile was at the time, it shows they were capable of getting a high return on the trade. What they got obviously didn't pan out.
