Is there such a thing as being too smart?
That is Sam Hinkie in a nutshell. I am sure he had all the stats and metrics in the world...but eventually the human element matters too bro.

By knux-future Go To PostIs there such a thing as being too smart? He basically admits that in the SI article. That by hiding his "smarts" i.e. his line of thinking and analytics he let the public perception of him and the team get written by everyone who didn't know the story.

I also think he made TOO many super long term trades. And with sports teams ... while they can be run for the long term you can't abandon the here and now. And too often he completely abandoned the here and now.
By Moris Go To PostNick Young out 2-4 weeks. 😑Sounds like same injury Aminu has.
By Moris Go To PostNick Young out 2-4 weeks. 😑
Our offense now has Lou Williams basically as our floor spreader and that's it. Clarkson is OK from three but that's not his thing and Calderon is well ... Calderon.
By Moris Go To PostNick Young out 2-4 weeks. 😑Good news!
No tear in his achilles!
By knux-future Go To PostIs there such a thing as being too smart? The issue isn't too smart, the issue is ignoring that players are human beings and not just automatons with fixed numbers.

IIRC, Hinkie made sure to have Embiid rehab in a place where he was most comfortable and furthest away from media shit because he wanted Embiid to be in the least stressful environment possible after Embiid went through the mental anguish of breaking his foot twice in one year.
.... This does not sound like someone who doesn't take into account that players are human beings.
Hinkie's biggest issue was picking Okafor over Porzingis, that's basically it.
By Moris Go To PostNick Young out 2-4 weeks. 😑Not as bad as feared, thankfully.

LA needed everything to go right to even have a chance at the playoffs, at least we can get over that pipe dream and just watch for the yougins develop.

By IWMTB19 Go To PostUhh, to be fair, it kind of has to be hard to bench Dunn when you refused to trade Dunn for Jimmy Butler (who has played MVP level ball so far this year).Oh, I know exactly why he keeps giving Dunn burn, but at some point, his pick is being vastly outplayed by the guy that he tried to banish to Philly a month ago. He might be decent someday (I'm skeptical), but it's doing him and the team a disservice to keep running him out there.
That kinds of opens you up to "this guy is the biggest fucking moron in the world."
I really, truly think it would help Dunn to sit for a while.

I mean, this is just terrible luck. One person down for two - four weeks is manageable. Two key players in our offense our for 2-4 at the same time is shitty though.
what's this im hearing a possible trade between Lakers and Wolves?
reports saying thibs is growing impatient of his players and wants to bring in a recognizable players
aka Loul Deng, Jimmy Butler or Taj Gibson.
you hearing anything like this Rodeo?

Uhh. Not really.
He'd still be killed for drafting ANOTHER big.

Sounds like you should stop reading lakers ground.

THE RUMOR: Minnesota Timberwolves head coach and president of basketball operations Tom Thibodeau is growing impatient and may deal one of his young stars for a veteran who can help him win now.
REPORTED BY: Ric Bucher of Bleacher Report
THE DETAILS: Thibodeau is looking for a player he already knows and trusts in his system. Bucher speculates The Wolves could be after Luol Deng, Jimmy Butler or Taj Gibson. The report says Thibs is doesn't know who he’d be willing to move in a potential trade but people close to him are convinced he will begin calling around soon, if he hasn’t already.
we been hiding injuries all year.
It's probably best if Dion sits out the rest of the season to heal up.

By Moris Go To PostDeng is awful, pls take him GM Thibs.Deng for Lavine.
who says no?
By pilonv1 Go To PostCrabbe for Noel would be highway robbery
Not saying straight, but if that was the basis. It helps both.
Don't trust Rich Bucher reports. He's probably just assuming what most are assuming. I don't have issues with a reporter sharing their intuition, but don't disguise it as information.
I think Portland would be a bit gun-shy trading away a player that's been extremely healthy and fills a need (not the most pressing one, for sure) for an extremely talented defensive big that hasn't when they're waiting on Ezeli to get healthy. I think Portland wins that trade, but I don't see them doing it out of those concerns.
By reilo Go To PostCareer high in blocks and career low TOV is quite impressive.
Steals up too.
Two of the most efficient scoring seasons in NBA history, on the same team. Also GEORGE HILL

By blackace Go To Postif they are gun-shy about that trade then Portland is doomed for mediocrity…Possibly. At the same time it's not unreasonable given Noel's bad injury history. Don't forget what happened to him in college. It's miraculous he can play. He sat out his entire rookie year because of it, too. He's had two surgeries on the same knee now.
By DY_nasty Go To Postlike anyone wants crabbe or harklessHarkless is averaging 12.4/5.5 and nearly a steal a game on 50% shooting at 38% from three on 3.7 attempts. And he actually plays good defense. Y'all can talk as much shit about Turner's and Crabbe's contracts, but Harkless' is a steal at $10mil/yr in this market.

$10m for Harkless is great value, would love to have him on the dubs. Length, plays defense and isn't a liability on offense, there's always a spot for someone like that.
Less than crippled Deng is getting too
By reilo Go To Post4yr/40mil isn't untradeable in 2017 lol
It's less than Marvin Williams gets paid

his team plays ian clark for fucks sake lol
Danny Green gets $40mil/4yr. I don't see what the issue is.
By blackace Go To PostMoe is a good value for a team that has a bit of D and a real PF or C but on Portland?Plumlee is a fine C, not a top C obviously. He's great within Stotts offense as a passing big. Issue is PF and backup PF.
By Tea Go To PostKeep talking shit dy, i see their stock rising. He gasses up Marvin Williams, it's fine.
;p
