Giannis with 34-12-5-5-2 on 13-19 shooting in a win over Cleveland. His stats on the year:
. His year over year improvement is Kawhi-esque. Still can't shoot, but still, for a 15th pick, not too shabby.
edit: and he's only just about to turn 22!!!!

By WWCHGT Go To PostWasn't really surprised at the Rockets loss (Utah will end up the better team this season, if healthy). Pelis with Jrue back makes sense, but wtf happened everywhere else?

Delayed hot take:
I'm getting really tired of reading the same Thibs quotes post game. All he does is blame the players, and like, yeah, they're young, but shouldn't he be the one doing a better job to put them in a position to succeed? He seems like he's trying to fit these guys into a system rather than running something that plays to their strength. Something has to give and he can't turn over the entire roster overnight (nor should he).
After they lost to Utah, he kept saying, things have to change. Maybe Thibs needs to change. Maybe he needs to not play LaVine 44 minutes in a game in November. Maybe his solution when the game tightens up shouldn't be a clear out for Wiggins.
Maybe the gap between Sam Mitchell and Thibs wasn't the great. At least Sam knew his money play was a pick and roll. The ball Smitch had them playing the second half last year was way better and more watchable than this.

By IWMTB19 Go To PostI remember when Fran Fraschilla compared Dante Exum to Michael Jordan.
We basically can't miss three point shots right now.
OMG RUDY FUCKING RULES, JUST ATE NENE'S SOUL.
Fran compared Jan Vesely to Blake Griffin
By blackace Go To Postnever thought I'd see they dayI'm in a bad place, alright. The things Thibs keeps saying are giving me bad Kurt Rambis flashbacks, when it was always on the roster and not the guy coaching the roster. It's all about his gameplan and his system and if they would just execute his system...
When they were playing good ball last year, it was because Smitch simplified the playbook and kicked the pace up. Thibs does neither of these things. They don't get out on fast breaks and they constantly run all these motion sets that have have guys like Wiggins and LaVine making decisions from the top of the key. This does not play to these guys strengths.
fran has to be the biggest fraud in basketball. no surprise he works for espn, they love those people

By giririsss Go To PostIsn't the upcoming draft guard heavy? :|
By blackace Go To Postriight..Im all in on the trade bledsoe and knight and draft a real pg that can run an offense. I think SG, SF, and PF are in decent shape with prospects we cant give up on just yet. And between the center and PG positions i think a once in a generation PG talent like some of the guys we will see in this draft will be exactly what we need to move the team forward.
but just saying you'd be crazy not to want Dennis Smith
Really liking Lonzo Balls game so far
Jr smith has missed 16 of his last 17 three pointers and giving away free points to the other team

I really thought Thibs and the TWolves would be a great match, feel for you Rodeo. There's not many options but to switch up the playbook.

By Moris Go To PostI really thought Thibs and the TWolves would be a great match, feel for you Rodeo. There's not many options but to switch up the playbook. You would think so, but Thibs seems really stubborn.
I think the easiest thing to fix is that he needs to be letting his point guards play with the ball more. He's done some of this sporadically, like the third quarter against Boston when Ricky dominated, but then he purposely goes away from it and the team sputters out again. The scorers on this team are simply not good at creating shots for themselves and when things get tight, they all want to play hero ball and rush bad jump shots. Let Rubio and Tyus push the pace and dictate way more for these guys and you can avoid these horrible stretches the offense goes through.
This should be a top-10 pace and offense team and bogging them down with half-court motion sets doesn't do any of them any favors.
The thing about Thibs that always scared me was how he ran players into the ground. It was probably worse in Chicago because their medical staff was basically Dr. Nick, but it just seemed like a total disregard for his players. I would have totally checked out on that franchise if I played there.

I would have totally checked out on that franchise if I played there.Oh, the minutes thing is reaching serious warning levels. He plays LaVine, Wiggins and Towns way, way too much. It's not even December and they're all out there 35+ minutes a night. They rank no. 6, 7 and 19 in minutes played right now.
His rotations are just awful, too. Most nights, Wiggins and Towns will start the game by playing 13, 14 minutes straight. They don't get taken out til after the start of the second. Then some bench player will do something he doesn't like and they go right back in the game. He has this terrible habit of playing guys for entire quarters.
Things like this are why I get so mad when he just blames the players.

People like Sam Hinkie are very very good at selling themselves to you when you get an hour or two to spend with them. I've worked with a ton of them. It's only in times of crises that the truly brilliant are separated from the pretenders.
By KingGondo Go To PostHinkie's resignation letter alone was enough to make me roll my eyes for days.
Well, it's a letter that wasn't intended for us to read so I'm willing to cut him slack on that one. Personally I just don't think he should be managing a sports team. Time is a luxury a GM does not have and will never have.
Imagine if Jeff Bezos had to answer for 15-67 records year after year during Amazon's early days.

By reilo Go To PostDoes he not stagger his lineups?Thibs is infamous for not staggering lineups. He'll often do complete starter/bench swaps. Always has.
By reilo Go To PostDoes he not stagger his lineups?Well, he doesn't really play his bench, so not really. To the extent that he does stagger, LaVine subs out first and then will usually play in the second with a lineup of mostly bench guys. In the second half, he barely does that, usually opting to ride the starters as much as he can.
I think the big mistake with the starting lineup is that Dieng and Towns can't play together. Not effectively on both ends of the court anyway. Gorgui is so insanely bad defensively and Towns can't guard 4s. Substitute Bjelica for Dieng (truly a Sophie's Choice), stop playing Dunn and maybe the bench isn't so catastrophic. The Dunn thing I can't stress enough. Thibs has to suck it the hell up and give Tyus real backup minutes.
Uhh, to be fair, it kind of has to be hard to bench Dunn when you refused to trade Dunn for Jimmy Butler (who has played MVP level ball so far this year).
That kinds of opens you up to "this guy is the biggest fucking moron in the world."

Dominique would casually drop in 3 major dunks every game. That up and under dunk was so good.

Jimmy Butler is really averaging 26-7-4 on the best efficiency in the league other than Durant so far this year.
