You really can't stop yourself from looking foolish, can you?

Nate McMillan refused to start him out of some misplaced loyalty to Steve Blake. Steve fucking Blake. I am hurt. That shit is dumb and I'll never forgive Nate for that.

By reilo Go To PostWhy the Pacers trade Hill for Teague then?nate ain't the gm
By reilo Go To PostI think you lack context on the whole saga. That was all Nate McMillan bullshit – he said before camp even opened that Steve Blake would be a starter and that Andre had to "earn it". Some Byron Scott bullshit. And 14 and 5 in the slowest, ISO-heavy offense of the era at 87.9 Pace (30th in league) makes those numbers great at his age. In his prime LaMarcus only averaged 17FGA that season because Nate didn't know how to run a proper offense. That's about the same Pace the Pistons ran in 2005.Andre Miller is a super slow pace PG. When Roy was alive they looked good at that pace... they decided to draft Oden and add players like Frye and shit with no designs to up the tempo. His Seattle and Portland teams were slow paced but super effective on O always ranking in the top 3 in Off Rtg
By DY_nasty Go To Postandre was mediocre as fuck back then
But he was the likeable kind of mediocre.
By reilo Go To PostBet he didn't like Hill's haircut so he asked him to be traded.Must have been it
By reilo Go To PostWait, Draymond is playing? Would've thought he'd be out at least two weeks after that ankle twist.
Was diagnosed as a contusion so might not have been any structural damage just a bad knock. Not sure how tho

I'll take a mediocre PG like Andre over a bad one like Steve Blake. That was my reality.
In before Knux says he'd take prime Steve Blake.
Speaking of, Sergio was traded cause him and Nate clashed. Sergio wanted to play a freeflowing style off the bench akin to what is a more modern offense, but Nate wanted him to play within his system by the numbers. I didn't think Sergio was (is) a good player, but Nate made zero efforts to run a less-rigid offense even as it was evident in 2010 that the league was moving that direction. There's a reason the FO went after Stotts -- it was a direct response to the type of offense they didn't want anymore.
Nate is like a best-case scenario of Byron Scott, although I think that's unfair/harsh to Nate (he's overall a much better coach) but the similarities are there.

Not to mention Miller averaged 30+ minutes both seasons in Portland. Like, let it go man. It means less than nothing.

Yeah its not like the warriors care about health more than regular season wins.

Yoooooo
I'm done.
There was a 10 game stretch where Nate started Blake and Andre Miller in the backcourt with Roy playing SF. Then Martell Webster came back from injury and he benched Andre again and kept Blake as a starter. Like, you don't remember any of that because you didn't watch any of that.
Clearly he couldn't do something bold like start rookie Rudy Fernandez at SG and Andre at PG. That would be rocking the boat or something.

Oh god, looking at these gamelogs, I totally forgot that he decided to go back to the Blake/Andre backcourt and Martell at SF after Roy got hurt. *facepalm*
A broken middle finger is the most Boogie injury there can be.
And he's still putting up monster numbers.
Whoah...this DJ in Oracle is actually doing stuff live instead of just pressing random buttons & idly wiggling a serato controller. That shouldn't amaze me, but it does.
Seriously, please don't.

Well, yeah, cause I knew he was wrong. Andre didn't play 30MPG because Nate finally relented, it's because he decided that when Roy or Martell were injured, this was a preferable lineup:
Blake, Andre, Martell, Aldridge, Przybilla
over the more obvious:
Andre, Rudy, Martell (or even rookie Batum), Aldridge, Przybilla
So, either you're saying I'm wrong and telling me I should defend Nate's decision to play the first line-up the most, or maybe the second lineup is just a better lineup. Which is it? That's what I'm saying that 3SP is missing context by saying dumb shit like "he played 30mpg!"

Okay, that thing where Steph slipped, kept the dribble alive on his knees then got up & hit the shot was slightly impressive.

Who knew that thinking Andre Miller is a better starting PG than Steve Blake was a controversial opinion
Or that Rudy Fernandez is a better shooting guard than Steve Blake

Rudy was never the same after Ariza's attempted murder. He had to get back surgery (herniated disc) because of it. I think he re-injured his back after he got traded from Portland.
He also averaged 10ppg on 43% and 40% on three (5 attempts, phew) in 25mpg his rookie year. He's an obvious choice to be a starter if Brandon Roy is hurt. Pretty sure he got traded cause him and Nate didn't get along, too. I loved watching rookie Rudy play. Was pretty bummed he didn't work it out.

"I'll never forgive him" should be reserved for coaches who blow out your iconic superstars Achilles because they can't or won't stop absurd minute distribution from happening with an aging superstar. Not for a coach deciding that one role player should start ahead of another role player. I mean I sort of get it if Andre Miller was a 2nd year promising rookie who was getting his development curtailed.
Your emotional investment in mediocre role players is just unnecessary man. Especially if you take the view that mine in all time GOAT caliber player/coaches is. That's what I don't get.
At least I never stanned Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah
Also at the idea that Kobe could be imposed on a minutes limit by any coach lol. Dude played 35MPG the moment he came back from injury (the second time!) and got hurt again. Was that D'Antoni's fault, too?
