By 3SidedPolygons Go To PostLol he shouldn't have gotten one last year. That was absolutely Curry'sAnd then the Warriors blew a 3-1 lead and everybody loves to make the MVP actually be about the playoffs. I remember when Dirk won and the Mavericks lost in the first round. People were like so weirdly furious about it.
LeBron's finals reminded everybody that he's still the best player. He puts up a 23, 8 and 10 season, Cleveland has near the best record, he'll win MVP because he won back the consciousness last year.

Ya but he's not. Curry was injured. I could see people reaching that conclusion after the finals last year but there's no way on earth you look at last seasons curry and 73 wins and think he didn't deserve it.
Dirk was a fluke because although he deserved it, he wasn't even a top 5 player then.
By Zeus Ex Machina Go To PostI would be pleasantly surprised if the Knicks win the back to back but at least they split.
They've played 5 of their last 6 at home. So I can't tell how much of their improved play is due to offensive and defensive adjustments and how much is playing at home. Today will be a good test. If they lose a close game it will be a good sign.
On another note they're defending the 3 so much better now that Rambis has been put in charge of the defense. So that should continue moving forward.

But I'm willing to bet a lot of people will look to LeBron this year because of last year, because they remembered, oh, yeah, best player alive and brought his team back in the Finals.

I still think Westbrook's going to be the sentimental favourite, and he's got the numbers to back it up.
I don't know, there's way too much precedence of players with incredible numbers not winning MVP because their team wasn't Top 4 in their conference.
Jordan won his first MVP in '88 when the Bulls won 50.
Jordan won his first MVP in '88 when the Bulls won 50.
I honestly think that'll help him. The title is most valuable, voters can tell themselves the Thunder wouldn't have gotten close to the playoffs without him. I'm not sure that anybody can fault his individual performance. I really think people will be looking for a reason to give it to him unless he has some sort of meltdown.
I don't see Westbrook getting it. Since they moved the voting to more than players the MVP tends to come from the 1st and 2nd seeds. MJ being the exception, Malone by a fluke ( as an exception i mean tied records). Kareem got it back in the 70s even with his team not making the playoffs but as I mentioned that was when the voting was limited to the orgs and not branched out to the media.
It's going to be hard to not give it to Westbrook if he averages a triple double and 30 PPG.
... Then again, it would be hard to not give it to Harden if he leads the league in scoring and assists.
And there's a bunch of other great players.
Probably one player will run away from the pack, but it looks like a really hard race to predict right now.

Harden's easier to dismiss. The defence thing, the fact that he gives off creeper vibes & people don't really like him, and he's on pace to beat the record for all time turnovers in a season (though Westbrook's averaging a ton too).
yeah, I don't get the creeper vibes or that people don't like harden. He's one of the most popular players in the league so yeah he has haters. Sounds like you're projecting.
& he already has the record for most turnovers, he's gonna beat it again though.

Harden is probably the most sane and honest guy from the OKC generation of miracles.
He's a flopping bastard, and gets drunk before playoff games (a lot of people do, he's just not even into hiding it a little bit), plus openly rejects defense.... but he's still better than the rest of those guys. Westbrook is just bad on defense - he just yells more.

Why are Lakers fans pretending like they won't be a .500 team? They'd be a top 4 seed in the East

Basically, we're banking on Lou and Young to continue being better than average on both ends.

I realize LA is better than I or anyone else expected but not since Nov 15 against Brooklyn will they have played a team that they're actually better than. They see Phoenix on Dec 9th and they won't be favored to win til then.
Russell is out 2 weeks too during the rough part of the schedule and he'll back when it softens up considerably. They might finish around .500 but the next two weeks they're gonna be in a hole and HAVE to win easy games without slip ups. I'' skeptical.
I won't be happy until Batum starts playing like an all-star.
Our defense is supposed to be way better than it is

I'm the first one to be "fuck Harden" but dude is wasted a lot, think y'all confusing lit face with creeper face.

By Dark PhaZe Go To PostI'm surprised the hornets don't have a better record with a healthy MKG and Kemba balling out.Clifford doesn't trust MKG late in games.
By S.igh Go To PostClifford doesn't trust MKG late in games.dude has been going hot hand even to a fault. we've closed games with a bunch of different lineups even though kemba/batum/mkg/marv/zeller has been one of the best lineups in the league. i'd complain more but i'd rather he figure out who can come through for us in november than april
By Dark PhaZe Go To PostI'm surprised the hornets don't have a better record with a healthy MKG and Kemba balling out.close games vs great teams. then stuff like jrue coming back like future trunks and tony allen with the sharingan... i'm only upset about the knicks loss because we should've blown them the fuck out and got real complacent.

I think 10-1 in the NFL is a bit more impressive than 8-9 in the NBA though.

After yesterday's hard fought game, they probably don't have much left in the tank. But then again. Hornets may not either. I'm expecting a low scoring grinder, tbh.
we are fucked
