By 3SidedPolygons Go To PostA) I reject the notion that rose wouldn't fit in the triangle if he wasn't a primadonna bitchYou reject the notion that Derrick Rose is capable of playing off the ball and being a dependable shooter?
By 3SidedPolygons Go To PostC) How many PG's of Rose's caliber had 1 year deals and could be had for the package they gave up?If you limit your scope to that criterium, then, again, that's on Phil. Plenty of teams have been able to secure capable point guards one way or another that would make more sense. George Hill (40.8 3PT% on 4.2 3PTA last season) was acquired for Taurean Prince, so don't fucking tell me there weren't any options.
Why are we arguing about this after 1 game again? Lemme start screaming after 10 games and Knick O looks like doo doo.
EDIT: Also reilo brought up an good point and it's one that had been echoed in the offseason. Knicks are going for a home run move that technically doesn't harm them longterm... but it didn't have to be done.

By 3SidedPolygons Go To PostC) How many PG's of Rose's caliber had 1 year deals and could be had for the package they gave up?They could've signed someone out of the DLeague, probably. The last time Derrick Rose had an above-average season was 2011-12.

Here's an idea, a fresh new PG to learn the triangle instead of someone who doesn't fit or has long played their own damn game. KNICKS DOE.
By Tea Go To PostHere's an idea, a fresh new PG to learn the triangle instead of someone who doesn't fit or has long played their own damn game. KNICKS DOE.Fun Fact: Rose pretty much ran alot of Triangle concepts in Chicago.

I've been harping for two years that G Hill is the perfect fit for the triangle so I agree with you there.
Rose would be required to be off-ball in any offense with the talent on this team. So no, I reject that having to stand in the corner some is an exclusively triangle problem.
By The Frankman Go To PostFun Fact: Rose pretty much ran alot of Triangle concepts in Chicago. This just makes his comments look dumber and him more like a chump.
By The Frankman Go To PostFun Fact: Rose pretty much ran alot of Triangle concepts in Chicago.Which is it: Rose has only played the triangle for 1 game so he can't accurately judge it or Rose knows about the triangle very well 🤔?
By Smokey Go To PostThe triangle is outdated in today's NBA, and Derrick Rose skill set does not fit said outdated system. 1 game or 20 games it wont matter.I got a video to show you about that ...
Phil is probably running the long game of collecting mega checks and prob already has a contract in place with LA tbh
By reilo Go To PostWhich is it: Rose has only played the triangle for 1 game so he can't accurately judge it or Rose knows about the triangle very well 🤔?Rose is stupid and forgot the very offense/concepts he was running in a year.
Then again I'm not sure if he consented to actually learning it. I'll need to see the definition.
Like Rose bitching about standing in the corner and not running pick and roll...when the corner pick and roll is a staple of the offense is fucking lulz.
By reilo Go To PostWhich is it: Rose has only played the triangle for 1 game so he can't accurately judge it or Rose knows about the triangle very well 🤔?Which ever absolves the Knicks of being inept at acquiring him. Or something, I dunno. That's not even touching on him having peaked and being consistently injured.
did reggie miller actually say "the spurs aren't this good" last night while caping for warriors?

By Dark PhaZe Go To Post17.5 a year for SchroederAre you calling him a walmart tier PG?
great value
“You know how I learned to shoot?” Embiid says. “I watched white people. Just regular white people. They really put their elbow in and finish up top. You can find videos of them online.”

Not sure if he's worth Mozgod money tho
Unless the EC is complete shit I don't see the Knicks making the playoffs unless they capitalize on every game in which Rose, Noah and Melo are healthy and on the court together.
By Omzz Go To Postdid reggie miller actually say "the spurs aren't this good" last night while caping for warriors? As long as they have Kawhi and their defense doesn't fall off too much, they'll cakewalk to 50 wins. What they do in the playoffs with TP and Manu shells of themselves is another matter. But again, one game into the season. Reggie Miller is another idiot.

Rose's real problem is that elite teams have abandoned the PnR as the majority and now run systems. Warriors, Spurs, and even Cavs run tons of off ball stuff, screens, movements and triangle actions and Rose's fantasy is to be Nash in the 2005 Suns. That style of play doesn't actually exist except in a handful of places.
Even the Nets new coach referred to PnR as like the running game in football, you can't abandon it but it can't make up your central offensive scheme either.

Obviously, we’re going to need that in important times. But right now we’re trying to get the ball moving, trying to get the ball side to side, get everybody their touches. And Brook and Jeremy, they’re both going to have to learn to work within that dynamic.
When it’s crunch time we can think about drawing up special plays for them, or getting into a pick and roll with those two. But we’ve still got to progress with our offense, and that’s where we are right now. So we’re not going to rely on that, just run a 1-5 pick-and-roll every time down the court

By Smokey Go To PostReplace triangle is outdated with Knicks are outdated, then. There's plenty of videos to support that claim. There's video evidence that shows James Harden actually plays some defense at times, too. What does your comeback have to do with the original point?
Your point was misguided in the sense you said the triangle as an offense was outdated, I showed you a vid on how multiple teams run their concepts. Or you wanted to lose the point and go for the burn, ok then np.
By MyBackIsBroken Go To PostFirst stupid parlay of the season... what is the parlay?
Holy crap dude... really risky going on no past data. Do you check out RotoGrinders? Get some good DFS/betting tools and data there.
The one thing I can agree with 3SP on is that the triangle offense (or, at least, concepts from it) is and probably always will be useful in high level basketball.
The Knicks are  about both implementing and executing it, though.

It's possible I was wrong in my first post, but you showing a video of other teams running the concepts better than a team assembled by a Triangle god only further validated my second post.
