No one ever really talks about or considers just how good the Blazers could have been if their players had stayed healthy. Roy, Aldridge, Oden. Could have been a dynasty. No one ever really thinks about this.

By diehard Go To PostAdvanced stats do not like Wiggins as much as his regular stats would suggest
Advanced stats aren't a young team that needs someone to shoulder the burden...

By Kabro Go To Postso you're saying you're a lowkey laker fan?
He's a low-key fan when the Lakers are low-key.
By diehard Go To PostAdvanced stats do not like Wiggins as much as his regular stats would suggestHe's actually broken through this year. Since he's hitting 3s at a good clip, he has a well above average PER and WS (21.8 and .151/48, respectively). He still doesn't really do anything except score (meh rebounder for SF, bad defender), but this one thing he does, he does at a star level.
By Dark PhaZe Go To PostDidn't know he was bad on dLavine may be the only other Timberwolf worse than Wiggins at defense. e: I'm probably exaggerating here because they also play a rookie in Dunn and Jones isn't really known for his defense, either. Bjelica might be just as bad, tbh. Damn, they have as many poor defenders as the Pels have poor offensive players.
e: Remember when many/most people were thinking Wiggins would give the Cavs a better shot at winning a 'ship than Love? Has anyone changed their mind on that?

But again, nobody on the team is good at defense except Rubio.

But they are a genuinely exceptional offensive team and you can see Flip's vision all over it. Rubio plus all these scorers is pretty damn awesome. I know it probably offends him to core, but Thibs really needs to get these guys to just scrape by on the other end. Don't concede like D'Antoni, but don't think you're getting a top-10 drtg with this bunch, either.
Sweet, the Jazz went from a league low 91 possession pace last year to a blistering league low 91.5 possessions this year.

Crazy thing is that Wiggins, LaVine,Towns & Dieng all have the tools to be AT LEAST decent defenders.
By S.igh Go To PostCrazy thing is that Wiggins, LaVine,Towns & Dieng all have the tools to be AT LEAST decent defenders.I disagree on Dieng. He's 27, he's four years in, he still doesn't understand basic positioning things, not to mention his poor foot speed. He might be big, but he's an awful rim protector with how slow he is to react off ball and in a pick and roll.

Wiggins and Zach are long and fast, should be good defenders with situational awareness, which Wiggins has little of and Zach has none of. KAT can be a good post defender in the next few years, he's getting slightly better. Dieng...man I don't even know
Defense, especially team defense, typically takes longer to develop than offensive skills. Some guys comeout that already understand where to be and when, how to position your body to give you the best chance to react to offensive players, the ability to keep your head on a swivel, etc. but most don't. And it takes time to ingrain those habits.
One of the most important features of fielding a good defense that isn't talked about that much is communication. Pretty much every great defensive team is loud on that end of the floor. Poor defensive teams generally don't talk. Players have to call out what they see, how they want to switch, etc. And, since he's always closest to the rim and can see more of the floor (and thus, all the other players), the center is the most important voice.
I haven't watched Towns much, but once he gets comfortable enough in his role to begin directing his teammates (and they can follow through on his directions), the Wolves defense should be much improved.

Lack of communication is how you get unchallenged shots at the rim after a defensive positioning or mental mistake. You ever seen a guard get surprised by a screen and then get knocked down by it? That's usually not his fault but the fault of his teammate who was assigned to guard the screener for not calling it out. If there is no communication, all the above will happen frequently and no amount of defensive talent in the world can overcome it.
Look at all these fools complaining about their bad guard lineups of the past.
they are weak like little baby

How that team has been broken for 15 years I dunno.
NEW YORK – Phil Jackson says he hasn't voted for a president since 1980. After campaigning vigorously on behalf of losing democrats George McGovern and Jimmy Carter, Jackson determined the political system was flawed, perhaps even broken, so he ceased participating.
Too smart for the system
By diehard Go To PostWhen does he have the same epiphany about the triangle?yo lmao
“When we play them during the season, we’re saying, “Okay, this is what we are going to do.’ We’re going to double-team the guy that hasn't gotten the max contract yet. We’re not going to let him get a shot off. Then we’re going to single cover the guy that has the max contract. And then watch the guy that doesn't have the max contract bitch and complain about not getting the ball all night long. And just watch them divide each other.”
