By Wedward Go To PostYup, born and raised. In Oakland now.Oh awesome. Looks like we got a nice little bay are contingent, past and former.
Tea and kado used to live here. Shun, Nelo Ice, you and I are still living here. Might be missing others.
Trying to find out who I can go get to watch the Pels-Warriors game on Friday night with me. There is not an awfully big audience for live NBA basketball an hour outside of New Orleans. :(
Depends on the part of Oakland. Anyway Piedmont street has some dope stuff. There's always Yoshis if you're a jazz fan. I was always hanging out in Berkeley. 4th street, Solano Street, Shattuck, College, etc.

You could probably sell that single ticket for a nice premium.
I hate that this season will just eventually just be Warriors vs Cavs, but i love how other than those two team this is the most parity the NBA has had in a long time.
By KingGondo Go To PostNot even for the Warriors? Shit man.If I can't find a friend that wants to go, I absolutely will get some money back for it.

By KingGondo Go To PostWow, 538 is really high on us.

If this came true I'd be thrilled. Also, it's safe to say this isn't our complete roster. 90% sure we'll make a move for a fill-in at SF.
Wow, super team Knicks as a 7 seed? in the draft lotto lol
But this can't be right. Raptors at 4th in the league, while the Wiz are only....lessee...1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7.....17th?
DY vs. Nate Silver twitter beef starts now.

I'll go. (Can you lend me a plane ticket?)
They project the Timberwolves at 46 wins. That's a +17 wins without any roster additions. Curious what their algorithm says about 3rd and 4th year players.

Curious what their algorithm says about 3rd and 4th year players.I think it's largely on the back of Rubio, Towns and Dieng, which advanced metrics all rate highly. It probably projects decent metrics for LaVine playing full time at SG, too, but advanced stats will always hate Wiggins since all he does is score in volume.
It's really curious. I think they'll be .500-ish, but that's a lot more bullish than even I am.

They're also projecting Lillard's WARP to drop this year from last as well. It feels like their projections are supremely conservative in some instances (Celtics are projected to win less this year than last?) and hyper bullish for others (Thunder at 50 wins after losing Durant and Ibaka???). It barely registers on a logical scale at times.

Their Westbrook WARP is at an astounding +18.3. Mindblowing.
I never really looked into Carmelo. It has Rubio as a 5.1 WARP (and borderline all-star ranking?) this year, but doesn't really give him any credit for his defense, which is odd, but okay.
We can sniff 50 but pretty much everything has to go right. Westbrook and Adams can't get hurt. Our young players need to continue to progress, especially Adams and Oladipo.
We'll also probably need to be a top 10 defense, since our lack of perimeter scoring will hurt us at times.
I know that CARMELO is very high on Adams and Oladipo. Probably goes a long way toward explaining their prediction.

How this works: This forecast is based on 50,000 simulations of the season and accounts for team fatigue, travel distance to games, and home courts with higher altitudes. Elo ratings are a measure of team strength based on head-to-head results and quality of opponent, while our CARMELO projections estimate a player’s future performance based on the trajectory of other, similar NBA players. Our CARM-Elo ratings, which power the forecast model, blend these two metrics to measure a team's quality based on both its game results and its roster. So basically yes.
Yeah that 538 prediction is a bit of a joke. Won't go down like that at all.

Harry B and Bradley B are "Up and Comers"
so is andrew wiggins
Ground Jordan cut. Sucks he looked good his rookie year the limited time he played but his old man knee never got better.
By rodeoclown Go To PostWell, yeah, Wiggins can't shoot and doesn't rebound. Advanced metrics don't like him.
but that free throw rate whew
538 is a product of the cult of statistics.
Looking at cuts, there's going to be a lot of nice young talent that could end up in the D-League if they ever paid well.

CARMELO likes Kawhi Leonard. That's to be expected. Steph Curry's is fucking ridiculous. It shot way the fuck up.
The Suns will waive G Archie Goodwin, according to The Vertical's Shams Charania.why... 6'5, great athlete, Jeff Hornacek needs to get in on that.
It is arguably the most surprising move of the day. Goodwin was a first-round pick back in the 2013 draft and is still just 22 years old. He averaged 8.9 points in 19.5 minutes for the Suns last season. He even started 13 games for Phoenix, and averaged 15.9 ppg and 4.4 apg in those 13 contests. He had one year left of guaranteed money on his contract ($2.1 million). There are some obvious flaws in his game (his career 3-point percentage currently sits at just 22.7%), but he has shown flashes of incredible athleticism and talent. It is safe to assume he'll draw plenty of interest from around the league and likely won't clear waivers.
Archie, Gary Payton II, Mitch
some damned good young players out there cheap.
god i'd love GPII on this team.

Some of yall are wallin with those thread titles lol. I'm ready for this L tomorrow vs king james (psys boy)
By DY_nasty Go To Postsons have legit wasted young talent for like a while now tooEh. Unless you think Len is meant to be more than he is. Not really.
They've drafted a few that haven't worked out. But your narative is not true.
By giririsss Go To PostEh. Unless you think Len is meant to be more than he is. Not really.Well, in the Nash years, they didn't really have prospects because of Sarver, but even they still did manage to bring along guys like Dudley, Dragic, Barbosa, Tucker.

The real fault in somebody like Earl Clark is taking him in the first place, but the draft is such a shot in the dark in that range of picking anyway.

Advance notice: Raptors staff have been saying all summer that Rock 'em Siakam is legit and they expect him to make the rotation pretty soon.
Archie didnt improve much in areas outside of what he was already good at, which was driving and being athletic. His shot sucks and he is out of control and turnover prone. All that work with jeff and his shot form and arc was still bad. He will get a chance for his athleticism but i never knew why some people were so high on him
