By Zoinks! Go To PostAren't you too old to be reading too much into a suicide?i read the newspaper. and?
By Tea Go To PostHonestly the LAPD is so shite it (the suicide) could be related to entirely different problems.I didn't follow much of the Rose trial, though it would've fantastic ammo against knickfans if it dragged on all year.
ah, ce la vie. there's always Phil Jackson's Triangle to go on.
By Tea Go To PostNone of that is really gonna refute my point.
What the fuck.
Woman claims rape.
Men claim it was consensual.
Evidence and testimony proves it?
How is that slut shaming exactly?
It's still ammo even under the assumption he's innocent because then he's just a complete dumbfuck and it's like bro what are you doing.
By KingGondo Go To Postlol, i mean taking pics with the jurors who could've condemned you is one thing, but i was more struck that he actually showed a facial expression.

This is really gross.

The lawyer claimed she was sexually aggressive. But that wasn't the basis of their entire defense. You're seriously going to tell me of the 140 hours worth of court precession, the defense basically built a defense of her being a THOT? Jesus. That's just media fodder. You're acting like you're the smart one here, but you're falling right into the tactics what was fed to the press and what they were allowed to report on. There was hundreds of hours worth of court trials, pre-trials, and depositions and your retorts are based off of little nuggets that were cleared for the press?
Did you major law?
If not, please stop. You've got blinders on.
If you can't tell the difference between this person is a liar and this person is a whore, you're part of the fucking problem alpha.
Alpha, you're naive if you think this wasn't a case of a well known athlete with wealth, resources, a friendly judge AND a friendly jury giving the benefit of the doubt. Rape cases are ultimately supremely hard to prove because it always boils down to he-said-she-said, and damn near all the time it never favors the victim especially when a celebrity is involved.
You're seriously going to tell me of the 140 hours worth of court precession, the defense basically built a defense of her being a THOT? Jesus.Yes because there's roughly five million other cases where this precedent exists.

The fact that when a rape happens, it's not about the issue of consent at that point in time but how many dicks a victim has come into previous contact with was all over this trial. I don't really give a shit about the rest.
By Tea Go To PostIf you can't tell the difference between this person is a liar and this person is a whore, you're part of the fucking problem alpha.
Her roommate literally called her a liar in a testimony and had proof saying she was doing it for the money and that she's lying about the depression after the rape.
But okay.
By Tea Go To Postlol.
As if they just stopped there.
What is wrong with you?
Nothing. I'm looking at the case from the actual evidence presented and what the plaintiffs tried to withhold. Also looking at how fast a mostly female jury concluded a verdict in less than 12 hours. You're looking at the tone and a few publicized blurbs. But there's something wrong with me.
Agree to disagree. No need to make this personal, so calm down.
No need to make it personal when you accuse me of having blinders on. Sure buddy. My issue is plain as day. There's no need to keep painting potential victims as degenerates just because they had sex before or after the incident. What "genuine" victim will bother coming forward if that kind of character assassination is the status quo.

Blinders are not an accusation. It's meant to imply that you're only seeing what's on the media, looking straight ahead, when the scope and realm of law is 360-degrees. This whole time you've spent jumping on my posts...yet you've yet to produce an argument of your own. Explain to me how you'd vote if you were a juror on that panel. I'm genuinely curious.
The plaintiff party has a job to do after the accusation is made; the burden of proof lies on them and it's their job to provide an argument that's infallible. What evidence did they present that convinces you Rose raped this woman?
You aren't actually reading what I'm saying, which doesn't insinuate he's actually guilty, so I'm dropping out of this argument.

This is disgusting and shameful.
What the fuck is up with America and this idolization of athletes and celebrities? This man was on trial for potentially raping a woman, ends up sounding like a piece of shit despite being cleared and the first thing on your mind after the case is to take pictures with him and joke about the NBA season?
I don't even know why I'm surprised tbh
Some people want to elect a bonafide sexual assaulter so I'm not surprised by shit anymore. Regularly disgusted but no longer shocked.

What does it all matter? This is post-trial. Judges have personality, they can say what they want. In this instance, it was a jury case anyway, so the judge had no say in the verdict. It was entirely up to the jurors. It's not like he said this during the trial. The Knicks even asked for additional delays, and the judge told them to kick rocks.
And jurors are people who are allowed to take a pic of a player after the precedings are over (and how do we even know the blonde woman is a juror? The jurors were never published anywhere. We only know the guy on the left is his lawyer). All of this does not imply bias. If the plaintiffs found the judge to be biased in any way, they would motion him to recuse himself and be replaced if their is a genuine concern of bias. A recuse attempt can be as simple as knowing the judge has an autograph from Phil Jackson, or notable Knicks player in the past. It's a conflict, and a new judge is brought on if successfully done.
Same goes for the jurors, who can be replaced with much, much greater ease. The selection process for jurors is tiring and tedious, and starts weeks or months in advance. They do quite a lot of checks in trials like these where they can start with up to 50 and narrow down to 8 (in this case). They narrowed it down to a majority female jury and lost.
The concerns here were how the defense seemed to have painted the accuser. But this concern is unsubstantiated because it's based on a blurb of context taken out of hundreds and hundreds of pages of court documentation. And I'd even wager money that a lot of those accusations of her sexual activity was probably objected to anyway and ruled baseless.
Derrick Rose is a colossal moron. Especially with what he said about "we men...it's what we do" in regards to the gangbang. That much is certain. He's an idiot. But his team provided a sufficient defense as well as a key testimony that nailed all of this shut.
Rape is one of the worst crimes that a man could do... It's also every man's nightmare to be accused of doing so...

By reilo Go To PostYou're sounding like 3SP defending Kobe after Colorado.
If that's your definition of defending, sure. But I'm not defending Rose. I'm defending the verdict. I'm putting myself into the shoes of a juror. I've sat in on so many court cases during college and was able to predict them 9 times out of 10.
If presented with an accusation of rape without any clear evidence or proof, I can't in good conscience commit a man to a crime that hasn't been clearly proven he did. Any man. Celebrity or not. And I'm merely explaining why the jurors likely voted the way they did. And why they did it so quickly.
It's in defense of the verdict, not the man. I'll end it that way.
By blackace Go To PostRape is one of the worst crimes that a man could do… It's also every man's nightmare to be accused of doing so…A large part of the 'problem*' is something Tea touched on. 90% of it comes down to he said she said. And with the assumption of innocent till proven guilty it makes it hard to ever get a conviction.
I don't have an answer for how to make the process better just thinking out loud
And it probably always will because of the normally intimate nature of the act. Most people aren't just doing it out on the street / in front of cameras.
*Problem is probably the wrong word. But i don't have a better one atm.
Another issue is because of nature of the crime women tend to be ashamed and don't report it right away... sadly it sounds like victim blaming but reporting it as soon as they could would help so much...
By blackace Go To PostRape is one of the worst crimes that a man could do… It's also every man's nightmare to be accused of doing so…It could be less close minded and slut shaming for one. If the issue is consent within a given scenario all other sexual inclinations and history are not relevant. Kinks, previous partners, same partner, any of it. The only time sex and lying would overlap is if the victim had false claims in the past, and that would still be dubious about the current situation since even a liar can be raped. Basically this idea that the victim has to be a virginal saint means we definitely wont get anywhere with how we handle sexual assault cases since the victims are put more on trial than the defendant.

Look at the women who kept silent about Trump and how they are treated right now or Cosby victims, we know these two are pieces of shit and yet the victims get harassment and threats thrown their way daily.

Part of the reason is because of cases like the Brian Banks case... and I KNOW is a very small percentage of women who lie about rape but there are some out there... And since it is a he said / she said affair it turns into a trial of the victim..

So your past is relevant.
It's just a shame that we view certain sexual acts as a negative character flaw, when it should be more about your whole personality, not your sexual personality alone.
Honestly the importance of getting the perp right has forever been tainted by racism and what they will admit is almost 400,000 untested kits. Which means the number is much higher and a bunch are probably destroyed. Our justice system is a joke.
The fact that this country has literally hundreds of thousands of untested kits tells you it's not he said/she said, it's the fucking justice system sitting on its ass doing fuckall about predators.
By giririsss Go To PostWhen it comes down to he said she said, it's basically a case of character and who you believe. Not at all. If rape kits were properly done and processed we wouldn't have a lot of he said/she said. Unless you think all kinds of bruising is just rough sex. Or that a pattern can't reasonably be established of predatory behavior and past victims.

It is our moral repulsion of the act that requires it to be a violent crime with high standards of evidence. Oddly, if we were less morally opposed to the crime then it might be easier to get convictions, but punishment would be lighter as well.
As for that after-trial pic, it's inappropriate and unethical on both sides, imo.

Drummond is about as good as he'll ever be. Detroit needs KCP or Stan to breakout because otherwise that roster is tapped out.
If there is some definitive evidence that the woman made it up and that Rose is innocent then I have no problem with the jury picture or the judges comments. Imo the fact that that stuff happened leads me to believe that all people involved with the trial were certain about Roses innocence. I wonder what those texts said...

Don't know about tapped out.. I think Harris has a chance to do big things for them.. This is only his 6th year in the league and his first full year with the team.
Detroit really needs to go extend Cadwell Pope and get to Johnson long term. Those two are pieces they can't lose if they want to stay competitive and I think they're more important than Drummond personally.
I'm not going to go doubt some dudes going out later in their careers after seeing Super Marvin Williams.
