By rodeoclown Go To PostThey should really get to the playoffs first before they worry about how another team is going to play them for a 7-game series. Trading Rubio really doesn't help them get to that end result, he's too important to the team. And given the current circumstance (he's really good and there's no clear upgrade at the position), I'll take my chances. Elite defender and I will ride the Rubio-Towns pick and roll straight to hell.I still can't get how you say he's important when he's had no legit challenge to his position for basically his whole career. Yeah, the team was better with him on the court - but who else has been able to play point for Minnesota?
Orlando is better with Payton on the court. New Orleans is better with Jrue. Doesn't mean any of those guys or kinds of players are irreplaceable or invaluable.
The fact that a top pick went into Dunn and the pick wasn't traded away for established players means that the writing is on the wall.

Yeah, the team was better with him on the court - but who else has been able to play point for Minnesota? So what about the years when they had Ridnour and Barea as the backup point guards? Yeah, Tyus was terrible last year, but it discounts that the Wolves did have competent backups for him the first few years and the team was still a lot better when Rubio was out there.
It's been the story his entire career, decent bench or no: it's a disaster when the dude isn't out there. You seem to think that the most obvious explanation (he's really good) is wrong. Okay, fine.

Nobody has ever seen Ridnour and Barea other than situational spark plugs and stopgap solutions. (Hell, Barea isn't even a point guard...)
Kemba's had more 'competition' in the form of Augustine, Sessions, and Lin. Hell, Lin might be better than everyone Rubio's had to defend his spot against. Rubio's never had to fight against a real NBA starter.
By Jeff-DSA Go To PostAs I expect the Jazz to contend for a playoff spot this year, I am considering getting cable again.Hi Jeff.
Hi, reilo.
How in the world does stopgap apply to Luke Ridnour but not a dude like Ramon Sessions or DJ Augustin? They're all on the exactly same level.

Ridnour's Minnesota stint: 13.9 PER, .87 ws/48, .543 TS
Augustin's Charlotte years: 14.4 PER, .94 ws/48, .539 TS
One's a stopgap and the other is a starting point guard. Hm.

before DJ wanted to kill himself he was a solid pg. shit, he may even take payton's job being a while applying for dual citizenship in china lol
By DY_nasty Go To PostWhich guy played with Kevin Love and which played with Tyrus Thomas?Ridnour was washed up, but he got to play with Kevin Love so he obviously put up similar stats to DJ Augustin, a never was that's been on half the league the last five years, but for some reason would push Ricky Rubio?

The year Luke posted his best shooting and overall numbers, the Wolves next best guy was Beasley and they started Darko. But now you're just moving goalposts.

Of course his numbers aren't gonna look great.

Ridnour is blackace's boy and even he would admit that Ridnour was washed Minnesota.
The arguments pretty stupid anyway, isn't it?
Most top picks don't have to fight for their starting job. That's why the team had a top pick.

Rodeo, any word if the Wolves are gonna be broadcasting the preseason game this Saturday vs Miami? Facebook Live or something? Fox/Sun Sports isn't broadcasting.

FYI
Rubio has a career 41% win rate. In a super tough conference on a team that can never stay healthy, had terrible coaches, only ever had one other star, and generally lacked any other talent, that's surprisingly good.
That means, when healthy, with all those caveats, the wolves are around 33wins a season with him. There's plenty of other things you could fix to find 10games a season and get to 43 wins, than rubio.

that is the weakest argument in the world for a player. especially a non-allstar on a gutter trash squad.
"look at that team when he's not playing - nevermind the fact that there has never once been a capable backup"
Rubio's WS is about half of IT2 last season...
I think the issue with Rubio is he is almost the exact same player he was when he came in the league... still has no jumper and isn't much of a threat on O

I know Wall is out, but Scott Brooks looks like he's learned nothing. Their offense right now is just give the ball to Beal and let him dribble a ton.

you have to break out "but the team fell off when he sat" to even make that argument to begin with lol. that is literally rubio's only lifeline

First we no have a good player for that argument to be awful...
Scott Brooks is a horrible coach

- a crash test dummy
- a mannequin
- a traffic cone
- his back ups so far

Embiid has had a few blocks where he looks like a good rim protector / agile enough to keep with guys.
Really hoping he works out in PHI

He needs to stop forcing things offensively tho. Once the hype wears off, he'd be called a black hole.
