By Hitch Go To PostI don't really understand intense pressing sometimes
Watching ourselves and Spurs, its obvious that it just doesn't happen for long stretches, stretches which last different amounts of time in each game. Like yesterday, we only pressed properly in the second half. Against us, Spurs only did it for the final 20 minutes. How do managers figure out in which phases of the game to do it?
For Spurs especially they probably have to micromanage it more since they have Europe, but I'm starting to think its based on momentum and adrenaline just as much, if not more than it is on instruction. We weren't just below top speed in the first half yesterday, we were positively slow in thought and action.
I think you press when you sense fragility and control possession when they opponent isn't interested in passing through the midfield.
By hixx Go To PostOr 3rd? I can't remember.I still think of them as having finished second last year somehow
Think City being beaten convincingly is more important than a Spurs win for me as an Arsenal fan. Shows they aren't invincible and other teams can see how to do it.
By Fergie Go To PostWas KDB that crucial in attack for City?I don't know why everyone is harping on about kdb, it'd be great to have him but this wouldn't be going any differently
huge problems with our defence and base of midfield

Also finishing off your chances, most importantly.
By Bungie Go To PostTottenham are tiring though - gnevI love how commentators seem to imply that pressing teams will gas themselves to the extent that they'll spend the rest of the game, however long that is, just walking through it unable to keep up with anything
By Barzul Go To PostTold you, fuckup is coming from Bravo a big one.
Up there with the prediction that the sun will rise tomorrow.
He just can't handle the english barclays premier league.

Would love to play City. They won't be able to deal with Alexis pressing up top if they're looking this vulnerable.
By Hitch Go To PostWhy is Navas playing anyway?
He's fucking dreadful.
He has a nude from Guardiola on his whatsapp and is threatening to release it worldwide if he doesnt feature

Against most teams we dominate the ball, move it slowly and save a bit in possession. We also finish most games strong so it's a bit stupid to think we'd be tired after 20 minutes
By Hitch Go To PostWhy is Navas playing anyway?I am sure the idea was that his pace and energy were needed. But a bit harsh on Sane to not give him a start -- couldn't have been any worse!
He's fucking dreadful. I know KdB is out and maybe Nolito, but still.
By ReRixo Go To Post… I didn't say otherwise?Well what we mean is your team really still needs time to get on a level Pep wants, but KdB has helped you win games you could have drawn or lost.
Pep is not a miracle worker, he does still needs time to get the squad to a great level.
In theory Liverpool can match Spurs's intensity and pressing pound for pound... The City games should be fun. (Or not)
By Mr Cola Go To PostIf Sissoko ran at me id shit myself
Really impressed with Spurs here, and especially Pochettino. Deprived of Kane, Dier and Dembele, he switches to a 4-3-3 with 5 attacking players and they look brilliant. Brave, but he catered his team and his tactics to the match.
Big contrast with teams like United right now, and arguably Chelsea too (although they have started shifting to 3 at the back).
