All-Star: Towns
All-Defense: Rubio
Now they can be canonized when the Wolves fall on their face because the bench is trash.

If Gasol is healthy I think they do, if not they're toast.
By pilonv1 Go To PostIf Gasol is healthy I think they do, if not they're toast.
That's why I have a lot of the seeding up in the air after established top 3 or 4.
A lot of teams are coming off injuries and will have rust, and other teams are getting injured.
So we don't know if the Grizzlies can keep up with how their team broke due to injuries and how they will play away from that slow grinding style that they ran under Hollins and Joeger.

Sounds like they are going to treat him like the Heat treated Wade when LBJ was there and rest him a lot..

I think I'm pretty solid on what I chose to be my seeding. It might change because of injuries, it just really depends on if those teams I highlighted do get healthy for the season and can shake off rust, especially with all the new coaching changes.
It's really just the Rockets, Grizzlies, and Pelicans in particular that I can't really put a real cap on other than they're not fighting for anything higher than the 7th or 8th seed.
I mean Barnes was given wide open looks in GS... Don't know what Carlisle is going to do to fix that

I don't know about that.
Kawhi Leonard was 2nd in MVP voting last year if it wasn't for Curry. Westbrook sure as fuck not getting HCA so he's not getting it. Who else? Chris Paul? Lowry? Horford?
Leonard is also coming off back to back DPOY, and can be the second player after Dwert to get 3 total and in a row. Sure there are others who are in the picture, but with Duncan gone Leonard is even more of a defensive anchor than ever and is still widely regarded to be on of the better defenders and will likely continue to put those numbers as his role grows.
Getting the Celtics to a 2 or 3 seed and improving is enough to have Brad Stevens considerations for COTY. Other people who could get it are Quin Snyder and Thibs if they overachieve. Stotts?
Kristaps hit the rookie wall really hard his first season and can really show off improvement especially if half his team dies during the season.
Dunn is the favorite for ROTY.
We got Kevin Durant in free agency and got dudes for nothing, so Myers for Exec.
Iggy has never gotten Sixth Man, but has played that role phenomenally for the Warriors these past two years coming off the bench.
D'Antoni + Harden, it's hard to see anyone else get it other than Russell Westbrook.
I don't think any of these choices are what you call "brutal optimism" and carry some weight to it.

Kawahi could. LBJ could. Horford could. Curry / KD probably won't. But it's just random optimism. I mean any of the 2 best players on the home court teams could get it. Blake could get it.
Outside that it's just random picking.
The rest is writing story lines that are at best 30% likely.
Boston was 5th last year, 3rd seed aft er getting horford is meant to get stevens a COTY?
Dunn is going to be stuck behind Rubio. Ingraham will get more minutes and be more of a focal point for his team.
Iggy never gets the love for 6th MOTY cause during the regular season he doesn't play his lock down D anymore, which is what makes him a great 6th man. Ittypically goes to best stat s off the bencch.

Iggy has averaged under 10ppg the last 3 season. Before KD got there.

By blackace Go To Postalso KP almost can't win MIP because his growth is expectedYeah.
A lot of the individual awards and COTY etc are written based on story lines. Those won't really shine/start until the year is going.
If Stevens gets Boston to genuinely challenge CLE for the #1 seed in the east. Like even if BOS finish 2nd, but are within a game of CLE, he would be odds on favourite. But that's the story, a young team taking the next step behind a vet leader and a great coach.
Well if Mac-10 leads Indy to the 4th seed he has to win! lol
CotY is the hardest to predict imo... MVPs always come from top seeded teams CotY can come from anywhere

Basically his shot at "redemption".
He's either a modern NBA head coach or now, just a good assistant.
By DY_nasty Go To Posteven if he is, he ain't doing it with that rosternot saying it's a great roster but is it worse than last years? ~~~~~
George Hill will be gone, replaced by Teague.
Mahinmi is gone, replaced by Al Jefferson.
Jordan Hill is gone replaced by Thad.
Ty Lawson and Chase are gone too. Ty was barely there and Chase was a 15mpg rotation guy.
Their starters are, assumedly; Teague, Monta, PG13, Lavoy Allen, Al.
I mean, that probably reads better than last years Hill, Monta, PG13, warm body, Mahinmi

There's a skill upgrade, but it could certainly be about fit in the long run. Roster makes more sense than Houston though, and people got them penciled in high.

Will buy Chinese for Dummies : Adrien Payne
Must likely to get fired : Fred Hoiberg
By MyBackIsBroken Go To PostYou don't think Houston makes the playoffs Chandler?I think we have as much of a chance as OKC or Minnesota. Dubs/Spurs/Clips are a lock. I think Stotts and Snyder are good coaches who have the pieces to make the playoffs. I'm probably a bit too high on Memphis. Even without Parsons, I think they make it with a healthy Gasol and Conley.
Pretty much everything after the 3rd seed outside of the the garbage water teams is a toss up. Complete guess work tbh.
TWolves upgraded their coach, like we did. We're relying on an improved Capela, while they've got Towns/Wiggins/LaVine who can make a leap. Thunder lost their duo, like we did. Harden still put up his stats last season, but Westbrook finally gets to run that place like it's his team.
You take away Khloe Kardashian, Ty Lawson, Dwight Howard and JB Bickerstaff from last season's team, and you've got a lot of addition by subtraction to our chemistry. Harden still seems turnover-prone, and our defence doesn't look any better, however. Add in the injury history of Anderson/Gordon/Nene, and I'm not sure how the season will go.

Uncomfortable with the Grizzlies and Mavericks this year... Bucks also because they were really bad last year and lost one of their best players in Middleton but Jabari Parker looks like he finally might good?
I have no faith in the Hornets either, but I don't feel confident in the Magic (with their 75 big men) being able to be that good either...
