By Smokey Go To PostI've accepted that if Herman leaves, I will follow that team. But its his dream job.
Anywhere but Texas tho
It's still to early for me to jump on the fire Charlie bandwagon, but there are just too many flat out terrible coaching decisions made by him.
By cashman Go To PostBut its his dream job.If UT is reasonably sure they could get Herman they should find a reason to fire Strong. A coach like him doesn't come along very often.

It ain't like they really need a reason. Just the money to do it and they got that 10 times over. That said I think they'll be about 6-6 or 7-5 after eyeing the schedule and that's a justifiable firing in my book if they can land Herman.
Articles like this remind me what a favor Cincinnati did for us when they hired away Tuberville. He's 28-16 overall up there and the movement to get rid of him is still at least 2 years old.
What a beating it was going through the end of year 3 with him, when he had clearly mailed it in on recruiting but was still winning just enough to not get fired. 3 full recruiting classes later we still feel the roster effects of the state he left us in, I can't imagine how bad we would be if he had gotten that one extra year had Cincy not "stolen" him from us.

All I know is if somebody offered me a guarantee that all of our opponents would score exactly 45 points, no more and no less, I'd probably take it.
Between our offense's greatness, our defense's terribleness, and the lack of an elite team in the conference, pretty much every game is a crapshoot. I'm tempted to say there's only one "guaranteed" win or loss on the schedule, that being Iowa State because they're terrible, but we don't play so well in Ames lately. You guys are probably the toughest game left due to the game being in Stillwater.
Interested to see what having Shimonek in against KSU looks like. Mahomes is great but he tries a bit too hard to make 14+ points on a single play a lot of the time, which isn't a great trait against a team as fundamentally sound as KSU. The offense barely missed a beat last week when he got hurt and a lot of that was Shimonek letting the game come to him instead of pushing too hard against an inferior opponent.
Admittedly, a lot of it was also shuffling the OL around a little bit to get our RT out of there, as he was having one of the worst games I've ever seen in my life.

Irish playing Wolfpack in Raleigh right now. They're 100 miles from Matthew and the weather is awful.
I feel for Kansas, I'm pulling for them most every week. Hate to see teams with such unrelenting doormat status for such long periods of time.
...though I'm a bit conflicted because I remember thinking the same thing about Baylor circa 2009.

By KingGondo Go To PostWe're getting pushed around by Iowa State at home. Please take this back, I'd like a win.
Bad on offense and defense.
Gundy is doing the same garbage he did in the CMU game. Taking knees before we can run out the clock.
Something about that touchdown was weird in action. It's like it didn't seem like he was going to go all the way when he caught it but there was never really anybody that could have stopped him.
Came out of the red zone once with no points while trailing. Could be enough to lose the game, sadly.
By domino Go To Postman is Tebow the only good person from that Gator era?
Why you think Urban bailed after winning two chips?
Man that blocked PAT against Miami was sogood.gif
You know what else is gonna be so good? 50% off at Ruth's Chris in Ann Arbor because of the point differential that Michigan beat Rutgers. They chickened out st 78% off, but I'll still have a good steak at NORMAL prices. When I woke up on Sunday, We'd at 9:30 was the last slot, lol. They close at 10.
We lost 38-44 and pretty much nobody is criticizing the defense, who actually played well enough to win for the most part. They held KSU to field goals in the red zone 3 times, 7 of KSU's points were a pick 6, and 7 more were a kickoff return. Our offense gave them the ball twice on our own side of the field on failed 4th down conversions.
It's a game we should have won but didn't for the same reason we, and many other schools, have lost games against KSU they should have won; we made mistakes, they didn't.
Outside of the Arizona State game, our defense appears to have progressed to at least "well below average," a distinct improvement over the "god awful" we've grown accustomed to. This is the kind of statement you make to make yourself feel better before you hit the meat of good offenses on your schedule and drop back down to last place.

Baylor coaches now openly in conflict with administration.
Basically the admin said that when one of their 2016 JUCOs was dismissed earlier this year it was the head coach and AD that did it, while the head coach is saying it was the administration that was responsible while he just wanted to suspend the player while the investigation was ongoing. The coaches all posting at the same time with the Briles' favorite #TruthDontLie hashtag is basically continuing the narrative that the football program (and Briles) were unfairly scapegoated by the Regents for what was actually a university wide issue.
Baylor fans better enjoy their wins this season because their roster is about to take a massive nosedive. Half of the 2016 recruiting class gone, only two commits so far for 2017, and a coaching staff that everybody knows is gone in a few months. Rumors are that they're already telling some of their recruits that they'll have an offer "wherever I'm coaching next year."

Even if it is a university-wide issue (certainly possible, even likely), Briles and the coaching staff were still negligent at best and actively harmful at worst with their handling of issues involving football players.
Good times.
By DY_nasty Go To Postyo this chris leak story…Yikes. Hadn't heard this yet until I just googled it. I went to Edgewater for two+ years.
Looking to extend our streak of scoring 50+ at home to 10 straight games this weekend against West Virginia. Sadly, we actually have 2 losses in those 9 previous games.
Looks like the line is fluctuating between around +1 and -1 so it's basically a pick 'em.

All of a sudden, the next 4 Nebraska games are being shown on ABC
at the start of the year it was just OSU and Wiscy confirmed for conference games

Hearing that Cantrell, Willies, and Vasher are all out for us with some kind of minor injuries today. That's a significant part of our outside WR rotation and nearly all of our height at the position but the two backups have about 2600 combined career yards so we should be more or less fine.
Also, one of WVU's WRs said their defense can hold us to 10 points. We average 55.2, #1 in the country.
First game I'll be seeing in person this year, should be fun but no internet for the duration.

Nervous for the UNC game. If we come out and just whoop the shit out of em, we've changed and are on the right track. I feel though it'll be a tight game jus like the FSU UNC game.
I'm officially through with the glass half full "our offense can keep us in every game" mentality. Second week in a row our defense has at least managed a few stops and our offense laid a massive egg, and that's not to mention the degradation our special teams have seen even though we hired a dedicated special teams coach this offseason.
I expect the defense to be bad. There are a lot of legit reasons for it that we're working through with baby steps and you can actually see some progress here and there. We can't survive the offense continuing to be this inconsistent and undisciplined, though.

Targeting is the stupidest call in all of sports and is the reason football in its current form is a joke. They even review the play and the kid still gets tossed and is out next week too? How the fuck does that make any sense?!
As a defender are you supposed to just not try and stop the receiver from making a catch? How about defending yourself from contact? The offensive player is always given the benefit as if the defender has no right to go after the ball.
Just have them put flags on and get it over with already. That's where this is going anyway.
