By Smokey Go To PostKarma for PSU not being in the playoffs gamePSU would have lost by 40 to Bama.
big 10 about to go like 2-7 in bowls after Iowa wraps up this L and USC gives Pedo State the pipe.
edit: well i guess 3-7 since Wisky got to play some JV team.

well Pedo State is making it happen. B1G should be their bitch next year.

Does it sound weird to anybody else that Fowler keeps calling Penn State "the Lions?" Is that normal? I remember only usually hearing either "Penn State" or "the Nittany Lions."
…or "Pedo State."
…or "Pedo State."
the stones on this kid to drop it in the bucket like that
also yeah i thought that Lions thing was weird too. i dont think thats something they'd do w/o being directed either so maybe the school is just trying to streamline the branding. who knows.

Not brave at all. Did you see that last drive? Two consecutive passes for first downs followed by two consecutive PI penalties right before that TD. It is as if Penn State won a conference where nobody knows how to pass the ball, and they were incapable of defending it.
Michigan and OSU, wassup?
musburger is going so hard for mixon rn lmao
he's killing it tonight tho. stoops giving him all kind of work.
dude he went like 11/11 the last 2 drives. making nfl throws and he's 19. that team was dogshit before he took over and now they light people up. he's the the best prospect since mariota/jameis to me.

Mahomes scheduled a press conference for 10am CST this morning, presumably to announce his NFL plans.
I'm guessing he leaves, but if it was really nailed down he wouldn't have waited this long. Rumor is that he wants to stay but his dad wants him to go.
::edit::
As expected, he's gone.

I'll be very interested to see how he does in the pros. Ton of talent but a lot of what made him so good in college will get him killed in the pros. Can't improvise and run around as much without getting destroyed physically or turning it over.
Also, so many NFL franchises are dysfunctional and run by tactical dinosaurs, so if you end up on one of those franchises your career can be over before it begins.

Super early of course but gun to my head I would say he ends up there at the beginning of the 2nd. Most teams will have a lower round grade on him but as we see every year it only takes one.
Competition is probably between Nic Shimonek (aka "Tats") and McLane Carter (aka "Top Ramen"). Offense actually ran better against Kansas with Shimonek in when Mahomes got hurt, and Carter is a JUCO who lacked high school offers due to size (interest from us, Michigan, Florida, etc.) but grew an inch and gained 40 pounds in the last two years. RS Freshman Jett Duffey may not be on the team anymore (legal issues) and true freshman Xavier Martin is a project.
We return the entire scholarship roster at OL except for one guy, 11 of our top 12 WRs, and our top 3 RBs, so the offense should be better overall though I wouldn't be surprised to see the stats themselves drop a bit. Pass yards down, rushing yards up. OL quantity is a concern, pretty thin there.
Defense...is the defense. Adding some early enrollee JUCOs we like in the LB and DB corps but our biggest issue last season was no pass rush at ALL and terrible defense against the off tackle run, both of which are DE issues. DTs were better last season than you would think given the stat lines but DE and LB were that lacking.
If we can get that defensive ranking up in the double digits (which is statistically likely, though we've bucked those stats the last few seasons) we could be cooking with gas.

Big 12 should be pretty damn good next year. At least on offense.
OU looks pretty damn formidable and we'll have expectations similar to 2011. Ridiculous receiving corps, Justice Hill as a sophomore, and possibly our best QB ever. We've got some good young talent on D but losing Vincent Taylor will hurt.
Although I'm happy for him that he declared for the draft. Gundy was lobbying for him to stay which is bullshit honestly.

By KingGondo Go To PostOU looks pretty damn formidableDon't know about their defense but I just noticed last night that Mixon was their #2 receiver at around 500 yards, nearly 1,000 behind Westbrook. Perine has already declared and Westbrook is a senior, so if Mixon leaves as well that is about 64% of their total yardage out the door. They've gotten a hell of a lot of mileage out of those three plus Shepard the last two years.
I think they get back most of their OL and of course Mayfield but if Mixon leaves they're going to have a big deficit of experience at the offensive skill positions.

More a testament to the B1G than USC. IDK when he took over, but they played Bama and got rocked. I would not expect that game to go much differently if played today.

I will never expect to beat OU as long as Stoops is there.
Their recruiting appears to be back on track, and I thought their offense would plummet without Shepard and I was wrong. Riley appears to be the real deal.
I also expect Mixon to return because he needs to put more time and offensive production between himself and the videotape.
That said, OSU is gonna be a lot of fun next season. Our WR depth chart is just unreal:
Washington
Ateman
Lacy
McCleskey
Johnson (who has apparently been amazing in practice)
Stoner
Wallace
Greenwood
Now that I don't live and die with every OSU game I'm able to look forward to next season. A couple of years ago I would have just been nervous.
Well this makes two QBs we're down today -
Not actually a huge surprise, we've known this is a possibility for a few weeks now (if not months). Still sucks to have actually lost half the QB depth chart instead of just thinking we will probably lose half the QB depth chart.

By cashman Go To PostI have a hard time believing that.
Texas got their QB in that class (Heard) really early and Mahomes never mentioned them at all in his recruitment (though he mentioned TCU, Oklahoma State, and A&M at some point).
Maybe there was some kind of bare minimum contact but if nothing else "wanted him as a safety" probably just translates to "called him once or twice after they already got Heard."
By cdyhybrid Go To PostMcLane Carter and Jett Duffey sound like they came out of a Texas Tech QB Name Generator. In a Madden game a few years back there was a QB in one of the draft classes (which weren't dynamically generated) from Tech named "Chad Gunn."
Sun Belt commish: 'Consensus' is that games must be shortened
Average game length for 2016 was 3:24, the longest in history. 4 of the top 5 teams in average game length were in the Big 12 (Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, Baylor, and Texas) and the 5th (Cal) is essentially Texas Tech West.

Tonight will probably be a good game. Hard to find anyone to root for though.
Bama is like the Borg, and Clemson is a peak illustration of the hypocrisy and absurdity of this "amateur" sport.

Cal may be in Jeopardy of losing their aforementioned Texas Tech West status as head coach Sonny Dykes was released on Sunday.
It's been rumored for a while (like years) that he's been wanting out of Cal, and his results obviously haven't been great, but the timing is still a bit odd. Cal going after Chip Kelly is the "obvious" reason this would happen.
