By Monroeski Go To PostI'm officially through with the glass half full "our offense can keep us in every game" mentality. Second week in a row our defense has at least managed a few stops and our offense laid a massive egg, and that's not to mention the degradation our special teams have seen even though we hired a dedicated special teams coach this offseason. What does Kliff need to do to save his job at this point?
I expect the defense to be bad. There are a lot of legit reasons for it that we're working through with baby steps and you can actually see some progress here and there. We can't survive the offense continuing to be this inconsistent and undisciplined, though.
By jjasper Go To Postyeah that went poorly.
Define good?
By KingGondo Go To PostWhat does Kliff need to do to save his job at this point? His buyout is something like $9.4 million right now. Not going anywhere.
Buyout aside, he probably wouldn't be let go anyway even at 5-7 or 4-8 so long as he can get the team back to showing a pulse in the second half of the season. When we hired a 33 year old head coach the plan was to keep him for at least 5 years for better or worse.
This will be a pretty bad market for a team like Tech to be looking for a head coach in as well. This fall we could very realistically see LSU, Texas, Notre Dame, USC, and Auburn all fighting over hires.
I'm saying this as a Nebraska homer..
That Wiscy / OSU right after each other are going to be BRUTAL.
edit: There's no Big 12 / Big 10 bowls this year? Nebraska's first ex Big 12 game is going to be Oklahoma in the 2020s at this rate, unless Neb and a B12 team make it to the playoffs

Comments from Kingsbury after our loss to West Virginia last week -
Keep in mind that we lost to TCU 82-27 a few years ago.
“It’s the worst I’ve seen since I’ve been associated with Texas Tech. I’ve never seen a team play that poorly, coaches coach that poorly, and just get embarrassed. I’d like to apologize to the fans, student body, and the alumni. That was as bad as it gets.”

By Smokey Go To Postgondo happyI'll only be truly happy if the Big 12 collapses and we land on our feet in one of the remaining 4 power conferences.
Expected that Canes loss. We are just too thin right now. All of Golden's 'depth' is what we have, no LB's no DL's, half the OL hurt including backups.
On to the next, I still like what I see from Richt and completely question whether Kayaa will even get picked in the first round. Does not look a first rounder, decision making and internal clock is so off.
BYU vs. Boise.
Was BYU special teams on the take?????? That random FAKE PUNT RUN, from the ENDZONE on 4TH AND 19?
Then that blocked FG at the end of the game..... I didn't even see the ball once it got snapped, then blocked...... Like the dude kicked a linedrive over the snapper......

His senior year we were #34 total defense and #25 rushing offense. The year after he graduated we had a 2,000 yard rusher.
It's amazing how much changed when Leach showed up. Literally the entire identity of the team changed in a single season.
Whew those are fresh.
Lets see how these actually look on the field.... If they are glow in the dark and the lights are gonna be on.....
Absolutely terrible sequence by Rudolph. Gave up an 8-yard sack after holding the ball forever on first down. Almost throws a pick on second down, then holds the ball forever on third and almost takes another sack.
Alright, I'm finally ready to get rid of Strong. Hopefully Herman can actually coach up all the talent that Charlie recruited.
Jackson's day is done against NC State. He scored four more TDs today though bringing his total to 32 in seven games. Pretty good.
That was odd. I just watched the first minute of the West Virginia/TCU game on ESPN2 as TCU fumbled the opening kickoff and WVU scored a few plays later; immediately after the extra point the channel just switched games completely to Purdue/Nebraska.
West Virginia/TCU does appear to be on ABC here, though. I guess somebody at the network screwed up their feed initially.

At a wedding so I'm only able to catch the game on my phone here and there.
Those first few minutes were pretty rough.

defense hasn't been the same since the Navy game. Something's going . Miscommunication everywhere. It was fun while it lasted.

Big opportunity for OSU next week. WVU coming to town and we're usually good for a couple of home beatdowns per season, even against good teams.
Gonna need to play our best game of the season though.
This OU-Tech game is ridiculous btw. Shades of Baylor-WVU from a few years back.

By domino Go To PostHerman exposed?
I don't think so. There's been a lot of TOs the last few weeks. Our FG kicker missed 2 today. Miss communication on defense. I wonder if the team is getting fatigued.
By diehard Go To PostSo the Big 12 did all that shit just for $10M total. Unbelievable. What did we do?
By KingGondo Go To PostWhat did we do?Nothing, thats the point.
We got a commitment from a junior college punter on Sunday.
You know, the day after we played a game where we only punted twice amidst 9 scoring drives.

New Baylor details coming out from the Pepper Hamilton investigation. Not sure why but WSJ links often show as being behind a paywall, but if you just google the whole or partial title you can click from google and it works just fine.
Also, Big XII is NOT going to go to divisions. Coaches voted 7-3 for divisions but the conference denied it. Championship game will be #1 versus #2 as determined by round robin. It's the right decision IMO, mostly because divisions in a 10-team conference would be pretty silly.
