I’m watching Chris Rock’s Tambourine and man...if I ever have a conversation with that guy I’m not getting within 5 feet. The lighting picks up the shower of spittle that comes out of his mouth, there’s like a puddle on stage by the end.

It's pretty addicting, I watched all four in one sitting.
They really overplay the "evil genius" aspect of its subjects though. Every time someone would call the woman a "master manipulator" I'm sitting there like, how? Every time she opened her loud crazy ass mouth I wanted someone there to tell to her to shut it. They were just a group of crazy ass country motherfuckers that had some know-how on how to make a bomb and came up with a bonkers scheme to get some money. Also there's no way the pizza guy wasn't in on it. What kind of innocent person just strolls into a bank like that all casual and confident with a bomb strapped to their chest?

I'm enjoying Tong: Memories.
12 episodes at 10 minutes long each. A bunch of high schoolers fighting.
The music is pretty good, action scenes aren't great, but still enjoyable. Enough humor to keep things rather light.
e: there was a training montage in episode 6 set to elevator music

Vox has a show on Netflix called "Explained". Should be a good watch.
Just watched 13th. I never realized how many companies use prison labor, I knew it was a lot but didn’t know it was that much.
This has been in my watch list forever but I always kept putting it off bc I knew it would just anger me.

I finally got around to watching Straight Outta Compton. I thought it was really good, but they really swept a lot of stuff under the rug that wouldn’t play with contemporary audiences, especially around how they treated women.
Like, Eazy is shown as this conflicted sensitive guy, but you never see any of his 9 kids or the other 6 women who mothered them. No mention of pimping. A bunch of other stuff around the other guys too. No physical violence.
I can’t believe that guy was the best Snoop impersonator they could find.
I always heard that Suge got the NWA rights from Eazy in his hospital bed, but they pretty much sidestepped the resolution of that issue.
If that confrontation Dre had with Suge was really how it went down, he’s out of his mind. There is no part of me that would step up to a guy like that who I’d seen do the things he’d done unless I was strapped with like 5 Rob Liefeld guns. That’s got to be dramatic license.
The way they wove in the Rodney King stuff was amazing, and really made the movie.
They really went all out with the studio gear. Like, it was all exactly right for the time, right down to the speakers. I was super impressed with whoever they had handle that.

The first episode of 'Explained' I watched is about KPOP. Hilarious stuff. I didn't know this but there's a new episode every week. If you're into Vox's YouTube channel, this is great.
Watched Evil Genius.
Whole thing WILD AF. You could see the crazy slowly take over her soul. She had clear eyes in her young pics, and as she aged them MF became dark as hell.

I'm watching "World War II in Color". Fascinating to me. Never took a real deep look into WWII like that outside of the major events. This being in color makes it much more engaging to me.
There's A LOT of similarities in how Trump conducts himself and speaks compared to the major dictator actors of WWII.

Allthough I haven't seen alot of speeches by Mussolini, Trump comes across as rather dumb individual compared to what the likes of Goebbels and Hitler did with their speeches, both with the content of the speech and the delievery.
We've had plenty of speeches to analyze in school, especially in combination with things like crowd psychology.
The theories of Le Bon and others https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crowd_psychology are a pretty interesting template when you look over those speeches.
Overall the cunt Trump is pretty much an outliner compared to the majority of former US presidents and other politicians from around the world, but I wouldn't really say he's comparable to dictators from the past, as they were certainly smarter than him.
Btw. There was also a WWI movie where they added color, it was also pretty good but I can't remember the name.

Watching an episode of "Hidden Singer". It is a Korean show where the original singer of a famous song and a handful of contestants take turns singing behind mystery doors. The audience has to vote for which singer is not the original artist, who is then eliminated. If the last singer standing is a contestant and not the original, then that contestant wins some money and a chance to perform.

I watched The Last Jedi. I think I ended up liking it more than like the last six of these. Why did everybody hate it so much again? Was it because there were so many yucky girls bossing boys around?

it was ok. I just thought every scene not involving rey, luke or kylo was boring as fuuuuuuuuuuuuuck
because Snoke wasn't Ezra, Luke wasn't Starkiller and the black guy got way too much screen time.
Every Star Wars movie is shit, PT was notoriously bad and if it wasn't for memes I don't think anyone would remember anything about the movies. The only good Star Wars material are the books and The Clone Wars.

By BarcaPuff Go To Postbecause their tv daddy turned into a bum instead of the shining knight they thought him to be.Actually, that one I can see.
If I had more of an attachment to the character, I can see how that would be an ignominious end to the mythos. After fighting through everything he just gives up being a Jedi -and on the Jedi as a whole - over a really simplistic moral quandry that a teenager could (and does) resolve.
And his death is bizarre - if his telepathic hologram was so demanding that it was going to kill him anyway, why not just show up and fight Kylo for real? It was a kind of underwhelming death for the franchise’s hero, he doesn’t even get to go out with a real fight.
By livefromkyoto Go To PostActually, that one I can see.luke isn't staring down a fleet under any circumstance lol

He probably could. One of the books claims he did some crazy shit
Also now that you mention it, I forget, did they ever explain anything about Snoke at all in these movies? I don’t remember any backstory on him at all.
By DY_nasty Go To Postluke isn't staring down a fleet under any circumstance lolBut he could do it across vast distances without even being there. Wouldn’t that trick be wildly more effective if he was just like 5 feet to the left of where everybody thought he was?

At a certain point you just have to accept that these are for the most part children’s movies and roll with it. But the Luke moral quagmire stuff really did betray the entire Campbellian hero’s journey/individuation cycle that was what Lucas built the whole franchise off of. I can see thinking that undermined the whole series, because it does.
On the other hand, anyone still taking this stuff super seriously after the prequels deserves what they get.
