Turn On The Bright Lights, as will be the case when I'm in my eighties probably
10/10 album just for the PDA outro

Not a big fan of the vocals tbh, which is a shame. could be good

The first like 20 min sounded like absolute shit anyway, not sure how they could fuck it up so much. Felt like Pitchfork sound guy was just randomly dialling buttons up and down, some vocals extremely loud, and some instruments straight up missing from the mix. It got better and better, but never truly good. Was fun to watch though
Should go up to 1080p soon, but youtube is awfully slow
Edit: They will do a proper mix of it and release it.

they are so good
My favorite types of music are loud, technically sound demons, cool 90s r&b guys in colorful blazers and high top fades, and smooth white boiz. This is the latter

By WoodenLung Go To PostWas a nice surprise at a festival I went to recently. Good energyLate response but I am happy that you liked her performance.
Sigrid was one of those artists in found out in a YouTube deep dive, back then she only has a couple of EPs and her biggest songs were Raw and I Don't Feel Like Crying. I know the lyrics from her first album.
There was some music video that I think it was during lockdown and that had Sean Paul and Stormy with Sigrid on the background vocals and I remember being to see her with such big names of the music industry.
She is great and another piece of evidence that the Nordic European countries make the best Pop songs (best Pop song ever made is by Robyn, a Swedish singer).
Talking about something more recent, Beyonce dropped the most 90's song a few weeks ago.
If someone said to me that this was a song produced on the 90s I would have believed them.
This should be the beat of the summer, the song is fire and the world has been on nostalgic tour so this should be hitting every dancefloor.
By Batong Go To PostHow's the new Beyonce album?
I read she has to rerecord one song because she says
"Yada, yada, bom-bom, kah-kah
Spazzing on that ass, spaz on that ass
Fan me quick, girl, I need my glass"
By Punished Go To PostWhat is Robyn's best song ever, @martinVery late answer but Dancing On My Own is in my opinion one of the best Pop songs ever produced.
It's fucking perfect, the way it starts with a very fast beat getting you ready to move, when the kick drum kicks, your whole body starts to react and then then Robyn starts to sing.
You kind of expect to be an happy song from the Eurodance beats but it's far from it.
"Somebody said you got a new friend/Does she love you better than I can?" are the first things that Robyn says. It's something that is immediately relatable, that thought when you see an ex with someone new.
Is she/he better than me? Can they give you that I couldn't?
The beat doesn't change and Robyn continues "It's a big black sky over my town/I know where you at, I bet she's around/Yeah, I know it's stupid/I just gotta see it for myself".
Once again, the familiarity of the situation hits hard on most people. How many times we forced ourselves to watch situations that we know are going to hurt us just because we either need to feel like we are strong or we feel the need to look like it?
Then comes the chorus. Robyn then talks about how she is in a corner, watching her ex kiss his new love, how she feels invisible but after the chorus she takes the decision to keep on dancing despite being a mess, "I'm just gonna dance all night/ I'm all messed up, I'm so outta line/Stilettos on broken bottles/I'm spinning around in circles".
The chorus is up again but after that the whole song fades down a bit.
"So far away, but still so near/(The lights go on, the music dies)/But you don't see me standing here/(I just came) to say goodbye".
The chorus is repeated once again but now with the beat completely dialled down and Robyn's voice is the only thing you hear and those lyrics hit even harder.
"I'm in the corner/Watching you kiss her/Oh oh oh/I'm giving it my all/But I'm not the guy you're taking home/Ooh ooh ooh/I keep dancing on my own (I keep dancing on my own)".
And then the chorus goes on for the last time but with the beat turned up to 11.
It's time to dance all your sadness away.
Good Pop songs make you dance, great Pop songs make you feel something.
And Dancing On My Own definitely means something to a lot of people.
You can see that on those viral videos that came out in the NYC subway after a Madison Square Garden show in 2019.
NPR has a fantastic article from their American Anthem series called Alone Together: Robyn's "Dancing On My Own" Opens The Corners Of Community.
They talk all about the creation of the song but the part of that article that always sticks with me is the story of a woman whose husband asked her on their first date if she was a fan of Robyn.
Her husband died but he asked that the song to be played on his funeral. She danced to it but cried, surrounded by her friends, but now every time she hears that music, she thinks about the good times she had with her husband and she wants to dance it with their song.
So, yeah, Dancing On My Own is my favourite Robyn song and it's one of the best Pop songs ever made.
But listen to Body Talk, if you like that album listen to the rest of Robyn's albums.
