Moris used to do a thing on SWS, that he'd take statements and let the others recording with him guess 'who said it' more or less
think it'd be pretty cool doing that with players since its so hard to follow every single thing in the nba these days. the opening segment we went through regarding social media stuff really opened my eyes to that

You guys talking about guys who give great interviews, Austin Rivers is another one. All the media even love speaking with him.

Westbrook wasn't a very obvious choice from what I remember. Neither was Ibaka. Those were solid picks by their front office.
They totally fucked up the Harden situation, though. Gave him a deadline of like 12 hours with an offer that wasn't quite max money or they would trade them.

The Ingram getting bodied talk reminds me Anthony Davis saying his "welcome to the league" moment was when he was going for a rebound and David West bounced him all the way to the goal post when blocking out. Grown men in the league are strong as fuck compared to nearly every rookie just coming in.

Ibaka was a solid pick but the logic of keeping him over Harden was laughable then it's hilarious now...
Also Westbrook was a fairly easy pick
By blackace Go To PostIbaka was a solid pick but the logic of keeping him over Harden was laughable then it's hilarious now…I don't know, man. His stock was pretty low until the April before the draft: http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Russell-Westbrook-5062/mock-draft-history/

Other sites had him mocked below 4, too:

"For 15 cents a day... you can feed a Brandon Ingram"
😭
Y'all savage, lmao.

I don't blame KD for leaving--you get an opportunity to swag and troll with steph and the boys you do it--straight up
But yeah that harden trade was ass. Adams would have to at least be an all-star to even be kinda worth it. And honestly it's not at all difficult to get a center that could win a chip a with the right stars around him. Center is really underrated these days. The position is fucking stacked. You don't have any Shaqs or Hakeems or anything but there are so many good serviceable C's out there.

I don't know about stacked...but I think we are going to see another great age of big men however it was clear Ibaka wasn't one of them...
Gordon isn't a good ball-handler anymore. It's high and loose now. I don't think he will overlap with Harden much. Best used as a spot-up shooter and tertiary ball-handler.

By blackace Go To PostHe isn't a great ball handler but he can't play anywhere but SG or maybe PG and Harden at SF is always ugly to meI think Gordon will mostly take minutes from Beverly, tbh. Beverly's defense is neutered by playing him with so many other poor perimeter defenders, anyway. Teams can just make the defense switch so that he isn't on who they want to run offense through.

By blackace Go To Postbut EG and James Harden will be sooo bad on D… but Mike D teams usually areThey are, but I don't think swapping out Bev for Gordon would really hurt it that much. It would still be easy for an isolate onto a weak perimeter defender. And they don't really have anyone to clean up after 'em when that perimeter defense gets beat. The improvement in defense would be marginal, at best.
Might as well make the offense as good as possible instead of making the defense just a teensy bit better.
Love you BA, but you're wrong on Ezeli. No way he's expected to play 30MPG -- those are Mason Plumlee's minutes. You also got Meyers Leonard that will fill that gap. Ezeli, especially at his contract, wasn't a gamble at all. It's two years, non-guaranteed, and you got money so use it and lose it. This idea for Ezeli to play 30mpg? Naw. Not even if he was healthy.
And Turner provides one key aspect that wasn't discussed: wing defense.
And DY's right: nobody was coming to Portland even with a giant cash of money thrown at them. Hell, Parsons spurned them for the Grizzlies. I feel like you honestly forgot Plumlee is on the team heh.

We just found that out and it cut off 10 minutes. Looking into fixing it.

What was Portland's offer to Parsons?
Regardless they could have thrown money at a C to B tier big instead of paying Turner like that for so long
It was the exact same one he got from Memphis.
And like I mentioned earlier, Turner fills a much needed gap: wing defense. Portland needs that more than an interior C-big.

There are plenty of 3 and D wings (Turner isn't even that he is a D and dribble wing) to be had for less but to me the glaring hole they have is the offensive firepower in the frontcourt
Who are these other dudes, though? I can't think of any that were actually available. In my ideal world, Portland would snag Paul George and go on to do great things, but what is a team to do in their situation?
Lee or Affalo would have been cheaper... Affalo would have been a shorter contract
The main issue I have with Turner is I think he is a scrub

By reilo Go To PostBruh they had Afflalo a year earlier and he sucked. Fuck Afflalo lol.but he would only suck for 2 years... while Turner will suck for 4
By diehard Go To PostPortland could have gone after Hayward next year. Also if wing D was all that they could have kept Henderson for 2/20
