It does indeed suck.

I would kill for car buying to be like configuring a computer.

Get online, check a bunch of boxes with the features you want, agree to the price with financing details, and set a delivery date.

Car dealerships are shady and corrupt as hell.

Because lots of people do stupid stuff when they buy a car.

Including the people who sell them.

It also gets overly complicated when you have fixed price servicing.

Car salesmen are only second to anyone involved in real estate as scum of the earth.

There's a reason that I can't quite articulate why a company like Wal-Mart does not get into auto sales or housing even thought they get into everything else.

i'd rather spend a solid week going through dozens of owner sales than step anywhere near a used car lot

my dad was car salesman for a while back in the 90s. the shit that was going on then was savage - now? no fucking way.

I wasn't looking to spend more than 3k - I can get away with that solely because I have base access. (Guys in the military throw cars away like toilet paper because everyone's always on the move).

I just don't trust auto-lots unless I'm buying a new car. Which is a possibility still. Just determined to force my luck on this one.

Now that Dy mentions it, I think I should be on the lookout for a privately owned vehicle that still has a manufacturer's warranty. Even if I get sold a lemon, the deal can deal with it.
